There are many factors that make Earth unique but it's nothing special in terms of the universe

I love the arrogance and ignorance in these statements. Modern man has only walked this earth for the last 200k years. The universe is over 14 billion years old. There are an estimated 30 billion exoplanets in the goldielocks zones scattered throughout the universe. The 4 things needed for life are water, oxygen, atmosphere and a magnetosphere. Not only are exoplanets quite common but super-earths are the new thing that show not only are Earth-like planets common but super-earths next to red dwarf stars (which are the most common type of star in the universe) are even more common and show much more promise than regular exoplanets as well as being able to sustain life much more easily than what Earth-like planets are able to harbor. Why would God create a near infinite universe and only make man? That is extremely stupid

Well said.

So has anyone here been watching A.D.? I know we talked about it before it came out, but haven't seen much discussion on it since.

I watched all three of the episodes so far. 12 in total I believe. It's pretty good. Some intense scenes. I just don't like all the commercials.

I need to watch AD. I saw the first two episodes and thought it was good. Just been trying to catch up on so many shows since I work week nights Gotham, Empire, Agents Of Shield, then shows like Daredevil on Netflix and Game Of Thrones on HBO Now.

I saw last week's episode,but not this week's yet.

I was a bit put off by them using the standard trope of the Romans wanting to quell the "Jesus talk" going so far as to have Pilate threaten Caiaphas in the bath! The Romans generally could care less about the religious on-goings of the people. As long as you paid your taxes and didn't raise your voice against Rome, they basically went about their business.

Yea that's one of my concerns with some of these networks doing biblical shows and movies. They try to add all this extra stuff or add their own "creative" ideas and it ends up not being that good.

Also had idea Paul Walker was a Christian. Even though he isn't with us here sadly, it's awesome to know he is in a much better place now. Reposted from a friends Insta account.

" I am a Christian now.. I go surfing and snow boarding and I am always around nature. I look at everything and think 'Who couldn't believe there is a God? Is all this a mistake? It just blows me away.

- Paul Walker

Totally agree Paul. RIP

What is with some christians using public schools to sneak biblical indoctrination , then someone protests, and they get death threats?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/04/16/bible-man-cancelled_n_7076402.html

http://www.wrcbtv.com/story/2880248...-grundy-co-after-constitutionality-questioned

And lets not pretend this was a general religion history class covering all influential world religions in a historical context, which should be part of school. These "assemblies" were specifically christian sermons. Public school aren't supposed to endorse any one religion, there wasn't followups with Quran-Man Buddha-Man, Vedas-Man, Rasta-Mon etc....:funny:
Those same people inviting Bible-Man would have a heart attack if their kids were exposed to one of those.

And really not mandatory? In the middle of the school day? What is the kid supposed to disappear? And imagine the ostracizing if you're the only ones not going.

Edit:

Not sure if this "speaker" is actually the Superhero called Bible-Man.

Well for a person who is a believer it isn't out of the ordinary to pray during sports practices, and during games. A lot of NFL players have kneeled down and prayed after making a touchdown or after a successful play. Heck, I did when I played high school football. I am sure they pray that teammates don't get injured or anything during those times, and give God thanks when they don't. Of course there are other forces at work that determine if you get injured or not but still. But of course you can't force these things in schools or universities due to people having different beliefs/ separation of church and state. But I do find it silly that people get mad or offended if a player chooses to kneel down and pray after scoring a touchdown etc. Recently seen comments on Facebook from people taking issue with Tebow praying on the field for example.

So? The point is, there is no proof that prayer changes the odds in any situation. Plus, the guy blatantly lied about the effects of their prayers.

It was just a dumb claim to make. We have no way of knowing whether prayer does decrease the chances of being concussed. The variables are too unpredictable and a study would be impractical. Since we can't be sure that prayer would benefit the players safety we have to rely on things that we know for sure will increase their safety. Pads, helmets, and penalties for excessive violence and aggression.

But I doubt he brought it up because the safety of football players is his main priority. He just wanted to fuss about the so-called "persecution" of Christians. He had his moment on his little soapbox.

Yea it might be an extreme thing to claim and the guy is kinda crazy. But to a Christian athlete prayer may make a difference to them personally. Whether or not other people agree with that. It's the same as NFL player like Tebow that kneel down and pray after a touchdown. Most non believers think it's silly and God had nothing to do with that outcome. But to a believer like Tebow has a different opinon. You can't force it on people of course, but I see nothing wrong with religious athletes/ coaches and their thoughts and feelings on prayer. If people don't agree with it that's perfectly fine.

The hate is worse when a Muslim player praises.

Tim Tebow constantlly Kneels in prayer, allowed by refs, never once penalized for it, at most some fans roll their eyes.

Husain Abdullah drops to ground performs sujūd, receives 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

That's fine, freedom to express religion allows it, and that is open to all religions.
The problem is often as others begin to express the same, and garner equal time, it's christians who are the first to balk, and shout NO! We were just talking about freedom for our religion, that was fine, not this.

there's a few factual errors here, but I get your main point. while I agree that life in the universe is a reality, you need to understand that you can't use theory and estimates like this as proof, just in the same way as someone uses holy books as proof of god's existence.

the difference though is that in this world one day life in the universe could very well be revealed.

I remember that. That was ridicules that Husain Abdullah got a penalty. He didn't do anything wrong. Both him and Tim Tebow can do it and I have no problem.

Like some wanting biblical creationism taught in public school as an alternative to science. Well then that opens the door to all creation myths.
They don't want them all taught though, just theirs.
See my above post about "Bible-Man" in school.
Having a public school assembly with specifically christian sermons with Bible-Man , would they allow the same to a Quran-Man Buddha-Man, Vedas-Man, etc...?
Did they?
No.

Hi all, I'm a pastor and recently decided to try something different from anything else I've done. It's the first in (hopefully) a series of Youtube videos called 3 Minute Sermons. Let me know what you think.

There are no factual errors in that statement. All of that information comes directly from astronomers and the current understanding in the search for life on other planets. Most agree that we will be able to find the signs of life on other planets within 10-15 years

Bro, That was an encouraging word! I definitely subscribed to you and hope that you will continue to make these 3 minute sermon videos.

I believe there might be other life forms in the universe but astronomers don't have all the facts. They are using educated guesses really. What happens in 10-15 years goes by and they are no closer to finding sign of life on other planets than they are today? When I was younger I thought we would be more technically advanced than we actually are by the year 2015. I doubt people will ever truly understand the universe, the best we will get is educated guesses.

yes there are. for example, the universe isn't over 14 billion years old, it's approximately 13.8 billion years old.
All of that information comes directly from astronomers and the current understanding in the search for life on other planets. Most agree that we will be able to find the signs of life on other planets within 10-15 years
so we have to wait 10-15 years to see the outcome. when i was in high school, gliese 581c caused a huge commotion because it was believed to be the first super earth found to be in the goldilocks zone but later deemed another venus. again, i'm not doubting that one day it will happen, but there is still no actual proof, yet. there's proof that it is likely, but that's not proof of it being real.

EDIT:I stand corrected, there is an uncertainty, giving the range between 13.8-14.4. so there's that.

This is what I was getting at. I'm a non-practicing Muslim. I avoid RL conversations about religion, because of **** like this. What's sad is that the Qur'an teaches and encourages Muslims to embrace Christians and Jews as our own and yet the hate runs deep because of misrepresentation in Western media (let's cherry pick and expose 'Murikkka to the crazy radicals as if Islam is the only religion that has them).
