I'm still hoping for Ron Perlman. He has a good voice, and since Thanos will be mostly CGI anyway that's very important.

Yeah, unless that actor who has been cast has a distinctive voice already. I see a lot of people asking for Damion Poiter to play him again; I haven't really seen anything that really stands him out to play Thanos.

No reason Damion could not be playing him and someone else voicing him ala Darth Vader...

Has this been confirmed? If so, I wonder why since he worked so well in the Avengers as a make-up. If Hellboy can be accomplished with prosthetics, why not Thanos?

Bubba, I think James Gunn said that Thanos would be motion captured.

Yeah, so I guess Thanos was "Rocket Racooned" in that somebody would've played him on set, and then they'll do some voice / motion capture stuff with the new guy.

Are you kidding me?! Michael Sheen? Why the hell didn't I think of him as an option! I love this guy & he's a phenomenal actor...everything he does (imo) is gold.

Him doing Thanos' voice/motion capture would be awesome. He's no stranger to highly physical films either seeing as he's starred in two Underworld films. Needless to say his character is my favorite along with Beckinsale's.

So yeah, f'n A on calling this one dude. t:

Okay, so out of all the potential choices out there, all of the ones I like would be:

Kevin Grevioux
Bryan Cranston
Michael Sheen

As it stands, Sheen is my favorite choice thrown out into the universe as of yet. He has just the right swagger to pull it off. And considering I've always believed him to be far too underrated, I'd geek all the way out if he did get cast.

Btw, a character can be done via motion capture with the actor being on set. Bill Nighy, who portrayed Davey Jones in the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, did motion capture but it was accomplished while he was on set. Kinda like what they did with Ruffalo in TA too.

It'll be much more effective to have the actor there...it makes the reactions as genuine and believable as possible. Plus, I'd like to think it would give the artists who do the rendering a better frame of reference.

Perhaps 24 would prevent this, but recently I've been thinking that Kiefer Sutherland wouldn't be a bad Thanos. Especially if its only a voice-over role.

Yeah, until we get an 7 1/2 - 8 foot actor I'd say motion capture & CGI is the best way to go. t: It'll give him the full presence he's meant to have in a live action film.

If it was just his height, I could see camera tricks being employed. But Thanos's anatomy is also a lot like Hulk's. the thickness of his limbs, the size of his hands and feet, the width of his shoulders and hips. He's far too robust to be accurately portrayed using prosthetics.

And his height depends on the artist. Just like the Hulk & most characters, it can change from issue to issue and even panel to panel.

I've always thought of it as the ultimate Cap moment. Lots of people post the "No, you move" speech from Civil War. But this, this is classic Captain America: even in the face of someone who has defeated the entire universe, he still stands. That's how he should be: inspirational and fearless.

Back to Thanos, I'm curious to see how the movies will portray his character arc. Thanos is to me the most compelling Marvel characters because his (good) stories are always about deeper questions. What does it mean to be omnipotent? What does it mean to love Death? What is omnipotence? What do you do after that? If it is a means, then to what end? Thanos with his intellect is the perfect character for that, he loves to self reflect, he loves to lie to himself and betray himself. It's the perfect opportunity to show character depth in these films.

Because there is more to acting than speaking. You need a great actor to convey emotions etc with eyes and body language.
