They'd have to seriously nerf the Infinity Gauntlet.

Well everyone says "this is the MCU, not the comics", when talking about Ultron.

As everyone seems to think, it doesn't have to be just like the comics.

The Infinity Gauntlet could work as a film. The only part of the series that would be hard to pull off for the general audience would be the battle with the Cosmic Entities. That battle could be left out of the film and script because it was really only used to demonstrate the power of the Gauntlet. The only reason Thanos loses the Gauntlet is because he subconsciously allowed himself to lose it. I would love to see an Infinity Gauntlet movie with it ending with Thanos working the fields as a simple farmer.

- Thanos

If Thanos is in love with Death in these films - I think I would prefer it be Hela, the goddess of Death with her amazing Kirby designed costume rather than Starlin's skull head in a robe version.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I prefer a legitimate death

Since Hela is the Asgardian God of Death, no.

since Loki made it to Thanos' realm we must assume that they are connected and thus he would be aware of Hela - and she's much hotter than the Starlin version...

Guess we'll have to wait and see...

Starlin's version is way hotter to a guy who loves death.

They're not connected. Loki fell into the abyss of space and found his way there. The 9 realms in the MCU are planets.

Thanos was after the tesseract in Avengers and it is no longer on Earth, my thoughts are that the whole smirk was just him acknowledging that the Chitauri and Loki had been beaten by a few guys and a girl, but also to set him up as a villain in the Universe. He doesn't necessarily have to be in any Avengers movie from now on, they could of just put him in there to show the scope of their vision, another oh **** moment like Fury in IM1 and it will also help pull crowds into Guardians, a lesser known franchise, when people see that "the purple dude from the Avengers' is in this too.

Effectively now that the Tesseract isn't on Earth, Thanos probably couldn't care less about The Avengers and is going off in search of other powerful artefacts, which is where the Guardians fall in.

Except that to challenge Earth/The Avengers is to court...deeaaaaaath. (or Deathhhhh, depending on how they go), and Thanos loves him some deeaaaaaath (Deaaaarghhrrrrrrrrthhhhh).

Like the Infinity Gauntlet which Odin has in his vault which keeps Thanos interested in Thor's world [and the Avenger's] which ties in with Hela who is visually much more interesting than a skull head so she makes perfect sense...

Considering the changes Marvel has mad in the Mandarin and apparently Ultron I don't think Thanos's gal pal Death being Hela is too much of a stretch...

That's not confirmed. Pretty sure it's not confirmed. Jotenheim is, Asgard didn't seem like a planet, considering it looked like it floated in space, as the waterfall thing fell into space. We haven't even seen the rest of the realms yet.

So does the fact that we haven't gotten any official announcements regarding the casting for this role mean that Thanos won't likely have a big or even mid-sized role in this film?

Feige said Thanos would play a big role in the movie. I'm pretty sure del Toro is Thanos, anyway

Isn't he too fat to play Thanos. :woot:

They could use motion capturing or a stunt double for the motion capture while using Toro's or anyone else's performances for the role if needed be.

Or they could just use a prosthetic make-up like they did last time - which seemed to work just fine.
DelToro did not look "fat" in the Wolf Man and Thanos has always been a little "thick" anyway - but I thought DelToro was the Collector or Controller or what ever...

Look how long it took to find out who was in the Thanos make-up for the Avengers. Thanos does not need a large role in the film to be the mastermind of what's going on - look at the Emperor in Empire Strikes Back.

That tie-in comic was calling most of them planets. Asgard may not be "planet" but it's a plane in space.

Probably.

Feige never said that. He said Thanos would be the master planner and we'd be seeing a lot more than just a turn and smirk, but he never said it would be a big role. And del Toro is the Collector.

They should be casting him though because Gunn said he would talk in Guardians, unlike Avengers.

To be fair, nobody even knew Thanos was *in* The Avengers until the first post-cred was shown in theaters, so nobody was looking for casting news about him. In GOTG, Thanos is actually confirmed, so we're all looking for casting news.

But yeah, count me in the BDT camp. In a lot of CBMs lately, there's been way too much "no, he/she really isn't who the fanboys think he/she is. Wait, I lied....he/she *is* exactly who the fanboys think he/she is."

Not at all. We know he will have lines, and in terms of screen time, "much more" than a turn and smirk

Feige said Thanos would play a big role in the movie. I'm pretty sure del Toro is Thanos, anyway

I don't think so.
