That's your proof Thanos is omniscient?
I can suggest all the above points to Thano having impressive espionage technology keeping him well informed and skilled employees who will use fear tactics and threats to ensure Loki does what they want. And the intelligence to successfully utilise all of it.

Maybe we just have a different definition of omniscient...

I agree with you. That does not prove he's omniscient. To me, it sounds like the most common threat in existence, "you can run, but you can't hide." Nothing more than a threat, with The Other saying that Thanos is powerful and intelligent and he will stop at nothing to find you if you fail or betray him.

That might work if we saw, you know, espionage technology and well-informed and skilled employees delivering reports and dispatches and such. Instead, we saw Thanos and The Other gazing off into the cosmos and "seeing" things unfolding on the other side of the galaxy. And reaching out to Loki on Midgard to *****-slap him astrally.

That doesn't sound like "omniscient" to you?

It doesn't sound like proof, no.

I was implying that Thanos is well-informed.
Espionage technology as in FTL transmission speeds from highly advanced cloaked probes dispersed across the galaxy broadcast in his throne room through technology we haven't even begun to guess at.
The Other did the astral slapping. Not Thanos. How that points to THANOS being omniscient?

edit; hell, his 'throne room' may just be a grandiose hologram room and it's all televised :D

Why would giving the Aether to Taneleer Tivan be a "diversion" to get Thanos to focus on the Aether instead of the Tesseract? The Other made it known in no uncertain terms that Thanos wanted The Tesseract. He didn't say a damn thing about wanting the Aether instead. By all counts, Thanos is still coming after that Tesseract that's still on Asgard.

The *only* way the TDW post-credit scene works is if you view it as Loki trying to *barter* with Thanos. Loki knows that The Collector is in Thanos' employ; Loki knows that Thanos sees through "Odin's" disguise (Thanos is omniscient, and the MCU backs this up). So what's going on here is simply Loki saying to Thanos: "Here, I'll trade you the Aether if you'll let me keep the Tesseract. Deal?" And Thanos will most likely let Loki *think* it's a "deal," before he double-crosses the hell out of him and wipes out Asgard.
While I do agree with this a whole lot, I think that it is very possible that Thanos simply had no way of getting to the Aether until the events of Thor: TDW. That's probably why he kept asking for the tesseract once it popped up on earth. He is grabbing these things as they are being found. Otherwise he would just go out and get them himself (or at least send somebody to).

That's some good galactic TV right there.

Come to think of it, how cool would it be, once powers become a bit more common in the MCU, for ABC to create a mock reality TV show set in the MCU. It wouldn't necessarily have to run more than a season or two, it would just be something strange and different, as far as superhero TV goes.

Although, I guess if you did that, you'd have to call it New Warriors.

Sounds like a waste of time, money, & resources, tbh.

Plus, what you're describing sounds kind of like Kick-Ass, just with the inclusion of actual powers.

I'd rather they spend that time towards setting up serious characters be it for TV or film.

Yeah, NOT... Sorry, I was on my phone at the doctor's office.

All of that is certainly possible, but given what we know of Thanos in the comics, and the way the MCU is setting him up to be THE Big Bad, which do you think is more likely: watered-down bureaucratic administrator who has to rely on tech and henchmen to get his work done for him, or godlike Eternal with powers far beyond anything yet seen in the MCU (i.e., comic-book Thanos)? I know where I'm placing my bets. :cwink:

As I've said from the beginning, I think Thanos is using the Tesseract as a pawn and just moving it around his cosmic chessboard. I firmly believe that he has deliberately misled Loki into thinking that the Tesseract is what he "really really" wants, when in actuality, all he's done is deliberately set Loki up for failure in The Avengers, knowing full well that this would cause Thor to take the Tesseract back to Odin and Asgard. Now that the Tesseract is in place in Asgard, he now has a direct conduit to Odin's Treasury, where the Gauntlet (and other artifacts) are his for the taking. When the time is right.

So basically nothing specifically points to Thanos being omniscient in the MCU (yet).
Didn't The Other have to notify him of Loki's failure?

One can be an awesomely powerful domineering tyrant without being omniscient... Ask my mother.

Actually, she did seem to know freaking everything.........

You're probably right. It was just an off-the-cuff idea. I haven't seen KA. Did it feature a televised reality game show?

I don't Thanos is omniscient, nor should he be. There are plenty of ways of portraying him as being an incredibly powerful being without making him omniscient. But I'd say there are no signs pointing to that, just that Thanos has a lot of the right guys in the right places at the right time.

Lol no it didn't but I just meant the idea seemed similar in the sense that it would be parodying the superhero genre & comic books as a whole.

Given Odin apparently hid the Tesseract on Earth and so far noone mentioned anything about Loki's staff and the fact it might actually be one of many such items his benefactor has access to... I'd say you've made an important point there!:wow:

However I still think the Collector isn't on Thanos's payroll but that doesn't mean Thanos doesn't have an inside source within the Collector's base (his daughter I suspect)...

If Thanos was omnisicient wouldn't he know where all of the infinity gems are?

I don't think so.

Where/when was this implied or stated?

It was hidden on earth in TFA, in a mural of the world tree "The Jewel of Odin's treasure vault" Red Skull said

Oh, I thought you meant currently.

And yeah, the Tesseract was mentioned in TDW & was stated to still be on Asgard.

Gah, so annoying! Listening to this podcast, and James Gunn is saying, "Look, the one thing you need to know about movie Thanos is..." and then the interviewer cuts him off and asks him a question that takes him on a tangent. :(

I absolutely hate when that happens.

I swear those are the worst types of interviewers. How ya gonna conduct an interview and not let the person being interviewed finish their statements?

This what should happen to those type of interviewers.

Haha I remember that vividly (have the documentary) & he was totally justified. That moment is one of the many reasons Wayne is my favorite artist ever. :woot:

He answers the question directly & the guy keeps asking the same thing over and over with slight variations...I hate that.

There's this interview of Antje Traue out there where the guy asks the same question with a different actors' name each time.

"How impressed were you by _______'s performance."

They need to fire interviewers like that pronto.
