Keep on ****tin on El Mayimbe people, another scoop he got right........

Maybe he should create another account here begging for more newsletter subscriptions lololol. :whatever:

Also the article isn't even of El Maybe's anyway.

Also also bypassing the swear filter will earn you an infraction.

I love that issue of Silver Surfer, where Thanos takes the Surfer on a guided tour of the universe and calmly, rationally explains to him that he's actually a necessary evil, as life is teeming and getting out of control across the cosmos, and he is an Agent of Death whose mission is to restore the balance. And when Surfer asks how he proposes to do this, Thanos replies:

"Euthanasia. By killing off 50 percent of this universe's population... I merely cut away the cancer to save the patient."

I like this approach. And since you mention it, I hope to God that Marvel got the rights to the Silver Surfer back because in my book, if you have Thanos, ya gotta have Norrin Radd around to kick his ass. Does anyone know if Marvel got the rights to the Surfer back?

Also, love the Brolin casting. I hated the idea of him playing Batman but I think he'll be epic as Thanos.

I dunno. Fox still have the rights to Fantastic Four, and Silver Surfer may be tied up with them what with his appearance in the second film. But even if Silver Surfer isn't around, Marvel Studios can have good ol' Adam Warlock around to kick Thanos' ass. :woot:

so thanos has been cast guys. What do we think

I approve. Josh Brolin is smart casting. A quality actor, a balance between being a big enough name to be seen as a worthy addition to Marvel's stable of acting talent and not being so huge a star it seems like stunt casting and distracts from the role, and he has a good, deep voice for what will largely be a vocal performance.

I never even considered Josh Brolin for the role of Thanos. My top three were Ron Pearlman, Clancy Brown and Kevin Grevioux.

If you hear him speak, he had the right voice for the part. Plus his last few films have not been all that successful in the box office. I am certain Marvel will make the announcement official before he promotes Sin City 2.

Warlock is cool, but he's a B-lister at best. Silver Surfer is one of those characters everyone knows (even if it's partially due to a Joe Satriani album)... one of the greatest heroes of all time. I really, really hope Fox doesn't still have the rights to him. Even though I didn't feel they did a bad job with him (despite EVERY OTHER ASPECT of that movie sucking horribly) I'd feel much more comfortable with the character in Marvel's hands.

Wait, Thanos grows up to be Colonel Phillips?

In the 40s?

James Brolin should just let Tommy Lee Jones adopt his son Josh, and then James can adopt Christian Bale as his own.

Since when has that made a difference to Marvel?

So is Brolin going to feature on any of the promotional material now, like even a poster? At least having his name in the credits? At the moment, Benicio Del Toro has the "and" billing. That was before Brolin was cast though. But even if he were cast, would his name even be after Del Toro's since Del Toro is probably a bigger actor than him?

So does this finally put a nail in the coffin of the 'Collector is Thanos is disguise' nonsense?

I know it hasn't... But to let a character as great as the Silver Surfer go to waste would be a shame.

I wonder if that is the character Marvel was looking at Ephron for. He's certainly got the abs for it.

Not the voice I envisioned for the role, so meh for now. Marvel is 0 for 3 with voice casting for this film from what I imagine in my head when these characters speak.

Who did you want for Thanos ?

How do you know Brolin isn't playing Del Toro playing the Collector who is secretly Thanos?

His name is Keith David. Anyway this casting gave me flashbacks to Oldboy. So Thanos had sex with Scarlet Witch, who was also married to Quicksilver in Godzilla.

I was vehemently against Brolin for Batman when we thought that was a possibility, because I don't think that guy should be playing any CBM heroes, period. But Thanos? Yeah, I guess I can approve of this casting.

And weirdly, I think he has a great facial structure for it, lol.
