Comics To the Black Costume fans... let's all thank RANDY SCHUELLER...

I always thought the idea came from Spider-Woman's costume.

Anyway, black costume is my favorite. So kudos to him (and kudos to him not trying to grub money out of it like the guy who invented the Thunderbolt hero Charcoal).

Thanks, Randy! You truly came up with the coolest alternate costume in comics (IMO).

Yeah I remember reading about that around the time SM3 came out, very cool stuff.

It's funny. Randy wishes he would get more credit from Marvel but in that letter from then EIC Jim Shooter, he doesn't mention what the idea is that he's buying. He was a sly one....

Did marvel already aknowledge him?

Apparantly, the idea behind Spider-Man's slick black costume... and ultimately, the look of Venom, is all thanks to a comic book fan named Randy Schueller...

:yay:

I've heard his idea was more akin to the SM3 Black Suit in appearance, and the Iron Spider in concept (in other words, more technological in nature than biological) than the Mike Zeck-designed alien symbiote costume (strongly inspired by the then-new Spider-Woman's costume) we all know and love.
