to those who watched it, QUESTIONS,REACTIONS, ETC.(Discussion Thread. Heavy Spoilers)

i just finished watching THE INVINCIBLE IRON MAN (animated) dvd and it was really good.

I noticed that his enemies in this animated feature involved "element gods" whose powers are not very different from Blackheart's The Hidden. Yet in the Iron Man animated movie, there were FAR MORE Interesting and really SMARTER ways of showcasing how their powers were smartly used.

Ghost Rider has none of this sense of inventiveness.

funny how GR seems to be exceeded by this straight to video animated movie

Yes, but was one of them psuedo-rastafarian? I think not my friend. Checkmate.

Eh, I was just cracking wise about one of The Hidden looking like a Bob Marley rip-off.

oh.

my apologies for being so barbaric.

i noticed my post was deleted. was it offensive?

Finally saw it last night...
What I liked:
-The visual effects. If this is truly the reason for the delay in the release of the movie, then it was worth it.
- Sam Elliot. He owns every movie he is in.
- Peter Fonda. Just like above, he really helped the movie with his skills.
- Nic Cage. I pretty much like most of his work. Remember that an actor can only work with the material given to him.
- The story as a whole.
What I didn't like:
- Not enough character exposition, especially between Mephistopheles and Blackheart. You don't really know why these two are out for each other. It's just "I want to take over." from Blackheart. It made me think of the Highlander "There can be only one" idea, and the Star Wars Sith/ Apprentice thing.
- The final fight. I get that GR's pennance stare doesn't work on those without a soul. Why would Blackheart choose the tactical error of absorbing all those souls while GR is around? Blackheart was setting himself up for a defeat. Also, I thought the final fight should have been three to five minutes of brutal, bone crushing melee, possibly with GR discovering powers he did not know he had.
- The editing. This seems to cover most of the complaints I really have. The whole thing seems so rushed.
For Example: The final fight could have been longer and much more brutal. Better editing could have provided better character exposition, etc.
- Run time. I know movie that excede 90 minutes are discouraged by the studios, but this seemed to be one that could have benefited from another 30 minutes of time. A lot of the editing problems would have disolved with more time.

Overall, I liked the movie. Cage does a great job as someone teetering on the edge of sanity. His look/laugh/actions when he is changing, especially when he is in jail, remind me of his cafeteria fight scene in Face/Off.

This review is pretty much exactly how i feel about the movie.

I think the movie is trashed too much
I went opening weekend and i enjoyed it
It was it was created as a film for everyone

I must admit the minions of blackheart were push overs
but other than that it was great
good acting,effects,and humor

Hi, does anyone know which motorbikes were featured in the movie?

SO I CAN BUY THEM ALL! :word:

Cheers,

Kieran

I agree with this, the movie was nothing spectacular, but not trash either. And about the minions going down easy, the reason for that was because GR was much higher in power than them. In the comics, GR has taken down beings with MUCH more power than the Hidden.

I didn't feel like they went down TOO easy...I mean, they were just dumb pushovers and GR just had all of the means of taking them down..

-TNC

let's hope if there's an extended version, that it does take longer.

Thats exactly how i saw it, they just werent on GR's level, i dont think people who dont read the comic know how powerful he is.

I thought the ghost rider film was pretty good and the effects were awsome but the storyline of the film wasnt that good i think i put my hopes up for this film a bit too much.

I read GR comics and i know hes powerful. but just cause hes powerful doesnt mean he should be able to take out the hidden so easily. it doesnt make for a good fight scene in a movie, its boring. you dont see superman going all out in the movies when he rele can, cause if he did it wouldnt be exciting.
i mean in GR the dirt guy gets punched ONCE and he becomes a total b**ch. the hidden fight scenes could have been so much better. the dirt guy could have been like sandman or clayface and suck GR into the earth or have the ground erupt upwards into spikes at GR. the water guy could have done more than just drag him under, like go all hydroman on him. and the air guy coulda had twisters made with GR in em or use the wind to throw stuff at him. thats assuming the hidden's elemental powers allow them to actually Control their elements, it looks more like theyre only made up of their element.LAMMMMMMMMMMME

The CGI in GR was really the only strong point...absolutlely amazing, everything else was trite. Why? The direction mainly. The movie fell into the classic comic-book movie trap - it didn't take itself seriously. As James Cameron once said "you gotta play it straight."

Because the movie was too "self-aware" it ended up being as light as a feather. The movie was vaccuous, empty trite.

The dialogue was generally poor, and the script didn't help. By far the weakest point were the villains - not just in terms of effects etc, but man, was the acting bad. I could act better than that.

It's forgettable too....the whole thing just kinda merges into some kind of amorphous experience where nothing stands out in your mind. This movie could have had resonance...it could have been this decades T2....but the structure sucked too.

Ghost Rider ended up being a waste of time, and I'm very glad I downloaded it for free, because I sure would have resented parting cash to see it.

I never knew the comic books.....never even heard of the character, but everything I read on here got me interested beforehand.

I'll understand if fans of the character come to this movies defense...but, it simply and undeniably was not a good film. Why accept mediocrity? Why endorse it with your hard-earned cash? I'll bet that most GR fans could have come up with something better. Would have been interesting to see what Goyer would have done with it.

im a fan of the comics and i sure as hell wont defend this movie. i agree that it is undeniably not a good film. i dunno what i find more outrageous, the movie being horribly made or ppl that liked the movie not being able to realize that it was horribly made.

Speaking of reactions, I hate to say I saw it in an afternoon screening with a bunch of annoying kids and teenagers making noises and laughing inappropriately all the time. That´s why I´m more and more waiting for the DVDs...

Poor story + Wrong actors + Lame Villain = Lame Movie

Sorry I couldn't add a more intellectual comment, I just hate that I wasted my money and my time on this movie.

I second that...
