Bam now we know wow
Wells Really died and Eobard took his face/body.

I loved the ep, but I wished they'd handled it a bit differently.

It would've been cool if Thawne was using Wells to get back to his own time, with a promise he'd eventually reverse time and let Wells get his wife back. Wells could've been trying to out think Thawne, maybe gotten the suit and making attempts to replicate his powers. I know this wouldn't work because we already heard Wells call himself Thawne last ep (along with Wells's future tech), but I think it would've been interesting

The actor playing young Eobard Thawne was great at nailing Cavanaugh's speech patterns and mannerisms. It felt like the same character we've seen all season, even though the actor looked nothing like Cavanaugh.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the "original" Eobard Thawne:

Matt Letscher

And ironically enough, he was the thorn at another masked hero's side....

And in 2002 he dressed as an obscure comic book hero in a sitcom...

So. . . I'm gonna bet-
Wells/Eobard was the one that stole Iris's bag, causing Barry to miss the Accelerator. He had to be at his lab for the chemicals to react.

Not really possible since we got a clear look at the mugger's face in the pilot. Plus, Wells was on stage giving out his speech when it happened and the mugger was apprehended by Eddie as well.

Damn.
I'll call it a missed opportunity then.

I'm wondering if Eobard tells Eddie that Eddie is his great (insert 400 years) grandfather and it causes Eddie to go mad.

Eventually he has to tell Eddie I'd imagine? Maybe Eddie threatens to kill him and thats when Eobard tells him.

Unless Eobard isn't a direct descendant of Eddie's, then the easiest way to kill the Reverse Flash would be if something bad happened to Eddie.

I expect Eddie Thawne to have [BLACKOUT]Hunter Zolomon's origin. Or better yet, actually be Hunter Zolomon (name having been changed to Thawne).

He gets severely injured by Grodd, goes to Barry for help, and is denied.

This time, rather than using the cosmic treadmill as the source of his power, its likely Eobard leaves Eddie the means to become the new Reverse-Flash (a suit, ring, Eobard's future tech assistant), as a Plan B, should Barry defeat him. [/BLACKOUT]

Nice ! I haven't seen the episode yet, as we don't get it down here until tomorrow night. However, I like that Thawne's original appearance resembles his portrayal from the classic "Once and Future Flash" storyline.

If Danielle was playing Iris instead, then we would pretty much have our entire cast locked down when it comes to the comic book appearance of their actors.lol

I can honestly say I don't think any of us saw this twist, Thawn kills the real Harrison Wells assumes identity and brings Star Labs into full fruition all in a means to insure that Barry becomes The Flash, and at the ripe time in which Barry builds up enough speed that taps directly into the speed Force, he'll steal it using Blackout's drainage ability and return to his time .

What's interesting is that I read quite a few theories where people had suspected Thawne to have stolen Wells' identity all along. Props to them for figuring that out.

It was also noted in the recent episode, by Gideon, that Thawne has had more than one encounter with Barry that involved speeding through time so going back to the past and killing Nora wasn't a first for them.

I didn't really like the reveal of original Eobard Thawne. I know it's probably not fair to judge him, since he was barely on screen, but I thought he had barely half of Cavanaugh's screen presence. Also didn't help that he reminded me of Will Forte.

I really hope he doesn't decided to use his original face, once he realizes his cover is blown. I want Cavanaugh to remain the Reverse Flash.

He's looked like that from the very beginning. It's not something exclusive to the Wally era.

I called Thawne adopting the Wells persona as far back as page 1. What I didn't expect was the creepy shapeshifting. I thought it would've been plastic surgery Return of Barry Allen style so that was a nice suprise.

I felt really bad for the real Harrison Wells. I kinda hope Barry gets to save him during a time travel excursion. Professor Zoom is such a cold blooded piece of filth.
