After last week's episode where Wells is talking to the A.I. Gideon, I am leaning more towards Wells being T.O. Morrow with his computer that could see into the future, and not someone who has traveled back in time. There were two changes in the newspaper to focus on: the "Disappearance of the Flash", and the "Red Skies Disappear". Maybe we are focusing too much on the main headline. Maybe what Wells was concerned about with the "future remaining in tact", was that whatever crisis created the threatening red skies was overcome by the Flash. When there was no Flash and Wells was upset, the second article read that the "Red Skies Threaten", perhaps leading to the destruction of all life on Earth. Maybe in Wells' mind, he was doing the right thing in committing the murder, so that the Flash was still able to avert the disaster, albeit at the apparent cost of his life. If he just needed the Flash out of the way, that problem could already have been solved. Maybe the Reverse Flash in the series is a clone of the Flash that Wells creates as a backup plan, but who goes insane and travels back in time after a near defeat by the Flash in an effort to kill him before he had his abilities. Barry chases after him, and rescues himself, but loses his mother in the process. Originally on Arrow, Barry described what he saw as a RED blur with a man inside. And in the Flash recap, there appear to possibly be both a yellow and red blur. Wells already had the DNA from Multiplex to possibly use as a basis for cloning technology, and also has plenty of blood samples from Barry and now he has the blood sample to unlock the secret of how Blackout siphoned his powers.
