There are news, which were confirmed. Ratner was really going to make it. But WB wanted another director with sense, they prefered more Singer than MCG or Ratner.

That´s why they were offering the Abrams script around to people like Michael Bay or Dominic Sena...

I've despised Ratner ever sense I read this qoute from him.......

" F^ck me for trying to take a boring character and make it watchable "

No Brett, f^ck you.

When did he say that?

I'd buy that for a dollar.

Very good..

Random fact

That guy gets arrested at the end of the original cut for ROBOCOP for crimes against women.

For as bad as that cockboy Ratner would have been, I can only imagine how god awful McG would have made the movie. Hmm lets see.....

First off McG would probably cast some hack like Justin Theroux as Superman. That would blow. Lex Luthor would be some occult leader who wants to channel satan and rule the world. Lois Lane would be a fiesty Latina reporter, maybe played by J.Lo. Jimmy would be a little gay cabana boy. Shawn Ashmore perhaps. Perry would be Perry. And then the Kents could be black plantation owners in Smallville, GEORGIA. And then we can some sideshow villian like Livewire played by Brittany Murphy.

Bottom Line, I hate hacks. God I hate Shawn Ashmore though. Little b^tch.

So Bryan Singer was chosen because he was cheaper.

Are movies made for entertainment these days? :o
That's what I was thinking. That's why DC's movies aren't as good as Marvel, not that I'm being a jerk but, WB really doesn't care, and even though SR looks good, if Ratner did it, it would've been a faithful to the comics new :supes: movie, not this Singer stuff, Ratner's X-men is so much more like the comic, it feels like the X-men, singer's mutant movies wee just some dull movies where once again he threw out who and what they are, and just did his own thing.

If the WB didn't care about Superman..they would have dumped all that money into the projects over the years.

Watch out, boys...we have a Marvel Zombie on the loose..

Abrams script had some good parts...and those good parts have been brought over to the SR script.

But then you have Krypton-Fu, Ty-Zor and survivors on Krypton...and they say SR is ****ing up the mythos?

why do people think that ratner would have made a film that was more faithful to the comics? he was going to use abrams script! even though they changed it and made lex human and some other things, it doesn't mean that that would have been superman. it was an interesting interpretation but krypton is gone, jor-el is not the leader of a planet, and don't get me started on the whole suit-in-a-can stuff! oh yeah! tom cruise kinda looks like a baby-faced chris reeve so i think if he was 8 or 9 inches taller he could have been superman back in the late 80s.

Ratner is an idiot. He truely is an idiot. He is one of those people who is so full of **** that people believe him when talks.

Or possibly we could just recognise Ratner as an par average director who's has no real style of his own? Ratner has a couple more films than Singer, and hasn't made three films on par with X2, Usual Suspects, or Apt Pupil. But he did make Rush Hour, Family Man, and After the Sunset.

Yeah, I guess Ratners overwhelming talent intimidates us...

Not once did I say Ratner had an 'overwhelming talent'. I'm just saying people on this board are quick to bash any other concept for a Superman movie.

And you know it's true that this board is very over-protective.

how was abrams script anyways?
It looked like it would be a great movie. It changed a lot about the Superman mythos, but I can honestly say I would have enjoyed it.

Stuff like Krypton not exploding, his suit is a living being, you know, massive changes. Like how Cyclops isn't a large part of the Phoenix saga in X-Men 3.
