Trailer:

The production value looks to be through the roof, and of course there is Hardy's involvement which pretty much guarantees Ill check it out.

This is going on my highly anticipated list.

Interesting trailer. Hardy's character looks great.

I had no idea this was happening. Looks great.

I read that this doesn't even air until next year. If that's the case, then why release a trailer now?

It's scheduled for sometime this year.

It was originally supposed to come out this year but today's release says 2017.

LOS ANGELES, February 25, 2016 - Starting today audiences worldwide are getting an exclusive look at Taboo, the new drama series starring Tom Hardy, who is currently nominated for an Oscar(R) for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for The Revenant. The show is also executive produced by Hardy alongside Ridley Scott and Steven Knight who created the eight-episode drama series. The first trailer is being released as production continues in London with a major international cast for FX and BBC One. Taboo is currently anticipated to air in 2017.

Set in 1814, Taboo follows James Keziah Delaney, a man who has been to the ends of the earth and comes back irrevocably changed. Believed to be long dead, he returns home to London from Africa to inherit what is left of his father's shipping empire and rebuild a life for himself. But his father's legacy is a poisoned chalice, and with enemies lurking in every dark corner, James must navigate increasingly complex territories to avoid his own death sentence. Encircled by conspiracy, murder, and betrayal, a dark family mystery unfolds in a combustible tale of love and treachery.

Taboo is based on an original story by Tom Hardy and his father Chips Hardy who is also the show's consulting producer.

I was hoping it would air during September/October 2016, now fingers crossed for January 2017. Easily my most anticipated new series for the next year. It does seem odd to release the trailer now, it isn't even tied in with the season finale of American Crime Story and FX hasn't shared a proper trailer for The Americans plus they're still filming Taboo.

Okay, f*** every other TV show that comes out this year. I need to see this. NOW. That trailer looked amazing. And not only the amazing Tom Hardy but Oona Chaplin and Michael Kelly!

Hnnnnnnnngh.

Give me this goddamn show now, FX.

Yeah, when the hell is this coming out? I need to see it.

Sometime in 2017.

Likely January/February as American Crime Story season 2 won't be ready then and the OJ limited series aired throughout February and March.

The Americans, Legion and Baskets would be the only other shows that could air in the first quarter.

Excellent, what's the premise?

An adventurer (Hardy) who returns to Britain from Africa along with fourteen stolen diamonds to seek vengeance after the death of his father.

Screenwriter Steven Knight was on BBC Breakfast talking about the show. He said it is set when the East India Company was in conflict with the crown and Britain was at war with the colonies (U.S) and France. He described his East India Company as 'the biggest, baddest multinational corporation on earth'. Some historians got mad because they think he will depicting the East India Company as evil.

I lover most of Steven Knight's work (Dirty Pretty Things, Eastern Promises, Hummingbird, Peaky Blinders, Locke and Burnt).

Knight is also one of three creators of game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

So, what's the plan after tonight, is this going to air every Saturday in the UK ? The US premier is on the 10th.

Man, incest used to be a very, well, taboo thing in tv/movies, now it's everywhere - after last night's episode of Delicious now it's here, not to mention GOT.

On the whole, this was a very slow start, but I'm intrigued. Though, James's mother must have been a very light skinned-black woman or not black at all for him being a son of slave and a slaver.

Interesting first episode. Hardy's screen presence is just incredible.

I had it recorded --just saw it. I like it so far, and the production value is excellent. I see that Jonathan Pryce came back from the dead, swapping High Sparrow for Sir Stuart Strange. lol
