Tom Hardy and Ridley Scott team up for BBC historical thriller miniseries Taboo

Tom Hardy probably could have made a pretty bad-ass Governor on Walking Dead, come to think of it. His kills in Taboo make it easy to imagine him chomping Merle's fingers off or chopping off Hershel's head.

Imagine Hardy so softly saying ".....liar" and then THWACK.

She goes by so fast onscreen that I didn't notice until looking at pictures of her online, but is the woman in the visions (Salish?) Noomi Rapace? She's not listed anywhere in the credits, but it looks a lot like her and she and Hardy are good friends.

There's something sensual yet sinister about Hardy's voice in this. Vaguely Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter-esque at times. He should use voices like this more often instead of all the unintelligible grunting he does half the time.

I can see the resemblance. It wouldn't surprise me if it was her.

God, I'm in love with this show. Everything about it, even the little things like those awesome top hats, makes me want more. I don't think I've ever fallen for a show so hard so fast.

I love his coat. Men need to start wearing coats like that again.

His father's young wife, it seems like she's either acting on someone else's behest or she saw an opportunity to cash out and took it and she's faking this whole widow act.

Yeah, I was on the fence about her but the most recent episode dropped a heavy hint that she's a fraud when she appeared unenthusiastic about producing his father's trunk. BTW, why does James think she has it? Did she say she did?

Cause they're edgy, squeekness!

lol, I am getting into the show, but it's a little like they go out of their way to be edgy and shocking sometimes.

Probably my only real complaint at this point. I'm coming round to Taboo's vibe, though.

fx really seems to be showing a lot of intense sex scenes with this show. I'm actually surprised the network censorship allowed some of it.

How did James not get in trouble for shooting the Company man? That was straight up murder.

I was astonished that Lorna actually had that chest. She was so evasive every time it was mentioned I assumed she had to be lying about having been married to James's dad.

The guy did cheat on the duel prep which could have caused the death of one of the fighters. Maybe that's good enough grounds.

Only broadcast tv networks (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, CW, PBS) are restricted and censored by the FCC. Cable networks can do whatever they want to. However until recently most cable networks have tried to stay within the FCC guidelines that broadcast networks adhere to. FX has slowly been going beyond the guidelines for years. With Taboo they've just said to hell with the guidelines. My guess is FX will have full nudity eventually.

They are still subject to their advertisers, though. They have a tendency to get testy when their products are being advertised alongside objectionable content. That's why they've been inclined to play it "broadcast network safe" all these years. But I think they're starting to realize that at 10pm on cable, advertisers/audiences are cool with whatever, lol.

That wouldn't've been grounds for committing murder even back in those days. I can only assume the East India Company is covering for him and the Crown won't prosecute him because it's too convenient for both parties that he remain alive and at large.

I love how Delaney has the American government, the Crown, and the East India Company all more or less out to get him at any given moment, and his attitude is pretty much "cash me ousside, how bah dah"
