Tom Hardy To Play Al Capone In New Movie ‘Fonzo’ From Josh Trank

But it's their fault if they're getting ******** over him getting work again. Supposedly, I haven't actually seen anyone get ******** over this news yet.

It looks like it's not gonna be a big budget production anyway. Trank will have to rebuild his reputation from the ground. Maybe he will stay away from big budget productions himself, since not everyone is fit for that kind of stuff. Limited freedom, producers nagging and so on.

But yeah, his "blacklisting" didn't last long.

Loved Chronicle and typically like Tom Hardy, so we'll see. How long until Michael B. Jordan gets cast in this too? :o

It's been a year already. In (Presumably) another mere six years Marvel gets them back. You'll look back and thank Fox one day.

Josh Trank got a job. I was wondering when that would happen. Wonder what the budget will be?

BTW, there is no good cut of Fantastic Four. Anyone who thinks so is deluding themselves.

I think it is important to point out that this isn't a big studio job, despite the relatively known name in Hardy. I would be shocked if the budget goes over $25 mil.

Of course, the next issue is picking up a distributor.

It's not the fault of delusional fanboys that the man almost kamikaze'ed his career.

Son, just poking fun at folks who swore he would never work with good talent ever gain or get a film so soon. In hollywood you fail upwards. Lawd.

I mean Hardy's been wanting to play Capone for years, so the performance should be enjoyable if nothing else.

Oh I don't expect the budget to be big.

I'm going to say it again for the people in the back. I don't feel sorry for Josh Trank and I have no idea why anyone does but that's on you people who do. Studios **** over directors all the time and I don't see them going on Twitter and bashing their movie opening weekend. A spoiled white male director got another chance, hooray I'm celebrating. Because we don't have enough white male directors who fail upwards.

I do think he is done with the big studios, though. Despite Hardy's name, this isn't exactly a case of falling up. I mean, I try to find info about the production company behind this, and I am not finding a lot.

I do find it a bit ridiculous that people took the production troubles surrounding 'Fantastic Four' and Josh Trank so personally. I get that it's an IP that people on here are close to, so it's unfortunate that the film didn't live up to expectations and that Trank lost his cool on the production.

It wasn't the first time there were troubles with a director or talent, so I don't get why he (specifically) should be 'banned' from Hollywood. If he has managed to deal with his personal issues and is able to get his s**t together, I don't see why can't direct any more films.

But of course he messed up a popular comic IP, so how dare he walk on a set again?

I'm actually looking forward to this. Josh Trank is not a bad director, and Tom Hardy is a great actor.

Won't be that hard. Whatever company thinks it looks profitable will pick it up for distribution.

Who said about a good cut and deluding themselves? :whatever:

Read my post again. I said original cut.

The movie is seemingly an indie. It is not a studio picture. They are making in with investor money and selling the distribution rights to one of the major studios like most indies so it is a little early to say Trank is back in the big time When one of the major studios lets him direct one of their films again I think we can officially say Trank is back in Hollywood's good graces.

Tom Hardy likes working with bold, crazy, odd and out there directors.

I think it is way to early to determine Trank's quality as a director. He has made 2 films. 1 good, 1 bad. But the thing is, he was so unprofessional that he lost his third film. And honestly, him working with as difficult an actor as Hardy is supposed to be is not likely going to be good results.

Or maybe they will get along just well because of how difficult they both are. Thing is, as you've said, it's eary to determine Trank's quality as director. But fanboys all over the Internt have already billed him as a hack who shouldn't deserve a second chance.

But films and filmmaking go way beyond those projects which appeal to comic book readers. So people being up in arms over Trank getting another projects off the ground does make me smile.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hardy just jumped onboard because he's wanted to play Capone for a long time and nothing came of Cicero with David Yates.

Not hard to imagine him and Trank butting heads though.

if a director of color or a female director would be in the same position like Trank last year they wouldnt get work for at least 10 years.

google has all the examples.

Isn't Mel Gibson just now getting his reputation back?

The truth is FF isn't the holy grail of movies that fanboys made it out to be. Same way with the female Ghostbusters. No one is going to get a bad rep for working on either of those properties. I'm sure Trank kissed some butt but other than that who cares.

Stuff likes this just intensifies the idea that HOLLYWOOD is a weird ****ing place that has no relation with the real world. In what other place can a guy get a high paying job....and then fight with the staff, lose the company hundreds of millions of dollars, bad mouth the company he worked for....and then have another company offer him the same type of job? Replace movie director with MACY's store manager, do the same damn thing, and the next job you hear him getting is flipping burgers at the corner HENRY'S FOOD TRUCK BURGERS.

Trump is running for president

No one responsible for the 2008 financial crisis has gone to jail

That's the real world?

And that in a nut shell is my problem. I'm not saying that Trank doesn't deserve a second chance, I'm saying give people other than white males a first chance for ****s sake. And allow directors of color and female directors to be difficult and continue to get jobs.

No this isn't a big project but it is a project that I think that a director of color or a woman would not be able to get off the ground so easily if they behaved in the exact same way Trank did. People can call it petty If they want to but I don't like the unfairness of it all and I have a right to be annoyed and complain about it.

What about the Hughes Brothers? Did they make a single movie between From Hell and Book of Eli?

Yup.

We live in a place where Josh Trank can get a second chance for his bad behavior on FF. I don't give a **** about him making a bad FF movie so much as his personhood and how that's rewarded. Fas as I'm concerned right now, he doesn't deserve this movie as his follow up. Give it to someone more deserving.

A lot of times in business it's not always about who is deserving. It's about who you know. Not just in show business. Not saying it's right, just the nature of things.

Plus, it's a low budget indie movie. Not like he's getting another big budget tentpole here. The dude got fired from Star Wars, no matter what anyone says.

Oh, I'm not saying it's how things work. Usually when people talk about Hollywood, what's right and what actually happens are usually two different things.

It's a script about Al Capone that he's writing, with Tom Hardy starring and Lawrence Bender producing. That's ****ing enormous for someone in his position right now. Too generous.
