Tom Holland is Spider-Man 🕷

Spider-Man: Brave New Peter
Well not too far from Spider-Man: Brand New Day! Lol.

December 2021:

EXT. ROCKEFELLER PLAZA - CONTINUOUS (NIGHT)

--Soars over the Rockefeller Christmas tree with a newfound sense of freedom.
Liberated from having to juggle two lives.

Peter Parker is no more, but Spider-Man lives on...

FADE OUT.

I don't know what the future of Spider-Man looks like. I don't know whether I'm going to be a part of it. Spider-Man will always live on in me, and I know that Amy [Pascal] and the studio are keen to figure out what the next chapter of Spider-Man looks like. If that happens to be with me, then that's very exciting. But, you know, if it's time for me to walk away, then I'll do so proudly.
What I was referring to in that interview where I said, 'If I was playing Spider-Man when I'm 30, I've done something wrong,' is because I would be taking up an opportunity for someone to come in and change what being Spider-Man means. You know, Spider-Man can be more diverse, it could be a female character, it could be anything.
I'd like to see Miles, I'd like to see Silk. I think you could do a really cool Jackpot movie.

"I've loved every minute of [being Spider-Man]. I've been so grateful to Marvel and Sony for giving us the opportunity and keeping us on and allowing our characters to progress. It's been amazing. And that's why for me, I don't want to say goodbye to Spider-Man — but I feel like we might be ready to say goodbye to Spider-Man."

"I don't want to be responsible for holding back the next young person that comes in who deserves it just as much so."
"I would love to see a future of Spider-Man that's more diverse — maybe you have a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman. We've had three Spider-Mans in a row; we've all been the same. It'd be nice to see something different."

July 2022:

Kevin Feige said:
…We’ve got the street-level with our announcement of Daredevil, and of course, Spidey going into the street-level heroes. And cosmic, and that’s where our friends Eros and Pip live.

June 2023:

Armed with “a bunch of notes and ideas,” Holland had already sat in on a series of Spider-Man development meetings when the strike was called. “It was myself, Amy, [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige, [executive producer] Rachel [O’Connor], sometimes other executives from Marvel will sit in,” he says. “It’s a collaborative process. The first few meetings were about, ‘Why would we do this again?’ And I think we found the reason why. I’m really, really happy with where we’re at in terms of the creative.

“But I’m also a little apprehensive about it,” he adds. “There’s a bit of a stigma about the fourth one in all franchises. I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise and there’s a part of me that wants to walk away with my head held high and pass the baton to the next lucky kid that gets to bring this character to life.”

April 2024:

“The simple answer is that I’ll always want to do Spider-Man films,” Tom told Deadline. “I owe my life and career to Spider-Man. So the simple answer is yes. I’ll always want to do more.”

The more “complicated answer” Tom added is how he and the Spider-Man team approach any follow-up to Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third title in his webbed saga, without retreading past themes.
“We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect,” he said. “The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.” He added: “This is the first time in this process that I’ve been part of the creative so early. It’s just a process where I’m watching and learning. It’s just a really fun stage for me. Like I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we’re not overdoing the same things.”

October 2024:

Tom Holland said:
I read it three weeks ago, and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and we at times were bouncing around the living room like, ‘This is a real movie worthy of the fans' respect.' But there's a few things we need to figure out before we can get that really going, but it's exciting.

Tom Holland said:
The idea [for Spider-Man 4] is crazy, it’s a little different from anything we’ve done before but I think fans are gonna really respond to it.

December 2024:

Producer Amy Pascal said:
[In Spider-Man 4] we have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker and he was gonna focus on being Spider-Man, because being Peter Parker was too hard. So that’s what the movie is about.

March 2025:

Tom Holland said:
I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home, where Peter Parker sacrificed his identity to save the people that he loves most in the world. So Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That's all I can say. That's all I've been allowed to say, and I'm well over the hump of giving away spoilers. So don't you worry: I'm not gonna do that today.
Director Daniel Destin Cretton said:
But there is something about this character for me, when I was a kid, my obsession stemmed from Peter Parker's humor, his insecurities, his imperfect, messy humanity that made me believe that the hero behind the mask wasn't so different from me…

…We’re all just daily nerding out over the suit, how to swing, how to create an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we haven't really seen before.

So, what do you think will happen?

Peter is in college while Spider-Man is
a pariah after Mayor Fisk declared war against vigilantes

Wilson Fisk: "Thank you, New York. Vanessa and I, we offer our deepest regards it's humbling to be sitting here speaking to you as mayor this evening beginning of the new year - most important New Era the greatest city in the world. The city is in shambles - crime, poverty, feeling of an uneasiness as if any moment things could explode but New Yorkers are tough we know how to take care of ourselves. We don't need a gun toing vigilante who wears a skull on his chest or a man who dresses in a spider outfit or a guy who wears devil horns to save us. No, we'll be our best once again" "And that is that the rule of law will return to New York City. That is what I will deliver to the city of New York, the city that bore me, elected me, the City that I love. Good night and happy New Year."

Although Spider-Man is not shown, the context suggests he may have been handling parallel conflicts elsewhere in New York. The series depicts a citywide blackout, widespread violence, and multiple vigilantes targeted or killed. Fisk previously referenced a “man who dresses in a spider outfit,” establishing that Spider-Man exists within the timeline but is active off-screen.

No official statement from Marvel confirms Spider-Man’s in-universe location during the finale. However, the events of Avengers: Doomsday or the setup for Spider-Man 4 may overlap with the Born Again timeline, offering a possible chronological explanation.

...in the last episode of Daredevil. "Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane has confirmed that season 2 will debut in March 2026", a few months before Brand New Day is scheduled for release.

At least I can see the potential synergy between the two even if Kingpin is not allowed to be in the movies without a new special side deal having to be made. This could be some of the last vestige of connection decided a long time ago before Feige changed his mind a bit about connecting TV and movies closely.

It was early that year in 2023 before the actors strike that Kevin Feige also said they had cracked the story for Spider-Man 4, "All I will say is that we have the story. We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now."

I doubt there will be any synergy beyond some minor references. Didn't Vincent D'Onofrio say he can't appear in the films?

So Peter's got a new traditional suit.

It resembles the current promotional photo from Marvel’s Spider-Man
