Homecoming Tom Rothman Becomes New Sony Honcho

Also, if CBS does get Sony, can we get a Spider-Man TV series finally?

Yess please. What about the effects?

He can still shoot a big fishing net out of his webshooters every once in a while, but mostly crawl across a sheet of glass with a building projected behind him in the background even when he could really just get to the top of the building more quickly by swinging up there. And he doesn't need to fight supervillains every week. In fact, he can just fight regular crooks with the occasional ninja guys.

You can basically build whole Lonnie Lincoln (Tombstone) and Hammerhead first season, or even Silvermane without basically doing lot's of effect on villains. You introduce characters like Chameleon later on. And from supervillains, Shocker as main baddie can be done on small screen. My guess is you can do a lot of villains who dont require too much CGI. And I think you can go practical with villains like Morbious, but I dont know if I could handle another vampire tv series.

It could be done. Just budget should be on lvl of Westworld.

It should be on the level of the Nicholas Hammond 70s Spider-Man show. :o

So essentially the Hammond show? :o

CBS would attain the original contracts to the deal therefore they'd have the rights to Spidey. What's interesting is what would happen next. Armin from CBC thoughts on the ordeal:

They could work around 'em, surely. As Neno said, you could probably use more grounded villains that don't require too too much and ones that do, make 'em the big bad (finale) of the season. Flash works around its effects, Supergirl, etc.

We'll have two versions of Flash pretty soon, already have two versions of Superman, etc. and I just think more Spidey, the better IMO.

Could even end up with four Spider-Man if the CBS stuff is legit and he gets a TV series. (MCU, Sony's spin-offs, Animated film and then of course TV).

If Sony Pictures goes bye bye wouldn't MARVEL automatically get the Spider-Man rights back ? Those rights are technically not Sony's to give away Id imagine they would simply revert

I've no idea myself, I just want a Spider-Man series. :funny:

Hmm, I guess guys like Shocker, Hypno-Hustler, Kraven, Kangaroo, Rocket Rider etc could work as a recurring thugs he fights with Tombstone as the big bad for a budget.. But idk, man. I'm worried about how they'd even handle the more fantastical rouges. Could Venom even be done on a TV budget? How would they handle the web swinging? But I'd be down if they could pull it off.

I love the idea of having four different Spideys. It gives fans variety. :spidey:

Would Tom Holland still be Spider-Man in a TV series? If not, then that will clearly show that the TV division is separate from the movies.

Of course not, haha. They'd probably go the Adult route to distance him from MCU. John Gallagher Jr. is my choice for Spidey

Maybe they'd make a Miles Morales TV show instead then, so that they don't have two versions of Peter Parker.

In which case, it was unnecessary to have Ganke in the movie.

They're already making an animated Miles movie next year with a Ganke. :oldrazz: So... Yeah. The best thing for them to would be to do Peter as a full-fledged adult (out of College) imo.

But animated is not live action. They could easily have an animated Peter Parker. So they could have a live-action Miles, otherwise they're outright declaring that the TV division is entirely separate from the movies.

And they can have a third version of Ganke. He's everywhere now! :o

But why would that be a bad thing? CBS would let Marvel do their thing while they do their thing. Plus Peter as a show before Miles would bring in more viewers and be less risky.

And at that point, Ganke would be like superhero confident for hire. LOL

Spider-Ganke, Spider-Ganke
Puts the money in the bank
Spins a web of deceit
That his real ID's discrete
Look out, here comes the Spider-Ganke.

Is it wrong? Listen bud,
Marvel haven't made a dud
Is his name really Ned?
Get that thought out of your head
Hey, there
There goes the Spider-Ganke.

With his skills so bright
You might think it's a crime
He could hack the suit
But there's no point now to whine.

Spider-Ganke, Spider-Ganke
Friend of Miles Morales, Spider-Ganke
Faithfulness is ignored
Big returns is their reward.

To them, Marvel will get their cash up
Though Ned's a great big mash up
He's still the Spider-Ganke!

:o

I'm still not sure Spider-Man is feasible on a live TV budget.

TV visuals and production values have taken great leaps, but still not sure well enough for Spider-Man.

Well , if they did do a series , the highschool or college years thing would fit better on the CW which is owned by CBS, though I'm not sure if there would be any conflict with what WB is doing with their own DC Berlanti shows.

CBS itself tends to skew older and cancelled Supergirl due to its ratings and budget so it would seem an unlikely network to put a young filled expensive superhero series on.

No.

I mean that only semi-facetiously. What would make anyone think CBS would want to make a Spider-man TV show? They've all but gotten out of genre TV entirely, even with shows that were quite successful.

MARVEL would be like

"Well **** we probably should have waited before selling our souls to the devil Tom Rothman"

But it would probably not be a good thing pissing off the mouse for any company so if they sell off their movie properties Im sure Sony would let Disney in on it & give them first dibs Disney would probably take to court both CBS & Sony

I am 95% certain the licensing contracts are non-transferable. So, no, CBS wouldn't get the rights.
