'Total Recall' ready for revival

I loved Bay circa 1995-1996. I think Armageddon was the beginning of the (creative) end with The Island being its peak. TF is just the sad aftermath. Let's hope he comes back.

I think even though Hot Fuzz paid great homage to Bad Boys 2, I think that film showed signs that Bay was losing it. Sure it was fun, but it was so reckless and nearly nihilistic in it's tone that it lost the charm it had in part 1. But it still had fun scenes cut here and there.

yeah, it seems like he lost all of those character moments in Transformers. Keep in mind, he's been directing those Trans-films back to back for half a decade. It's time for him to move on, or least take a break from that series. (Until the fourth film)

It's like Raimi. He got too involved with one franchise. They need to have a break between sequels.

Yeah, Bad Boys 2 was mucho fun, but Bay was no longer his former self, in terms of talent. The Rock and Bad Boys, though? That was 90s golden stuff. Add Face/Off and Die Hard with a Vengeance and Last Boy Scout and there goes my Saturday!

On the subject of Bay, with the exception of The Rock, he's one of the worst directors ever IMO. I just don't like the guy at all. But that's me.

Now for this film, I like the look of it so far. I admit to having reservations, but the trailer is putting a lot of them to bed. Just got to see the film now. I loved the original, great flick. SO i'm looking forward to seeing what they've done here :-)

I think Face/Off is one of the perfect marriages of mind blowing action, interesting story/characters and genuine emotion ever. I mean it's such a ridiculous concept, I bet when people saw that on paper they were like "WTF is this?" But then it was executed so well.

He does sound like a dbag, but I don't care, as long as his films entertain me. And it's been a long time since he's been able to do that for me.

As soon as TR was announced I was very very excited. As soon as Wiseman signed on to direct, my hopes were dashed, but tried to keep an opem mind. That trailer really helped me decide not to watch it at the theatre.

And acting, don't forget the acting. I don't know what they're doing in the Americas, but they should be teaching this one and Die Hard with a Vengeance at film schools. Such a wonderful film.

haha yea, great performances from pretty much every single cast member doesn't hurt.

It was done in one take with a slider rig usually used for car chase tracking shots.
was this confirmed? i know that they used CGI to make perfect transition from one shot to another. they planned this shot for around 3 weeks. the camera crew, collin and the CGI guys did a fantastic job.

That opening action scene was awesome. I presumed it was the "virtual camera" type thing that Bay uses, rather than an actual camera rig though.

Whatever it was, very cool looking shot.

It actually pisses me off how much Bay has regressed as a film maker. Whenever i see The Rock or even Armageddon i just think "What the hell happened to the guy?"

They both had great action, but great character moments too. Like in Armageddon, that montage of the government tracking down and putting all of Harry's team through tests is some brilliant character work. There is more characterisation there than in the whole TF franchise.

And it was full of emotion. Like Harry pushing AJ back in the lift on the asteroid, speaking to his daughter then blowing the thing up. But what really got me, and still gets me to this day, is when they land and Chick's son comes running out to greet him. Fantastic.

Oh and Jason Isaacs is ****ing awesome in that movie.

Transformers happened. He decided to do 3 big budget highly paid robot movies and he tried to put his own humor and style on it but theres only so far you can go with robots that people love. I have high hopes for pain and gain though and hopefully its a return to his roots. I still say The Island was his last best movie that reall engaged me and the idea was a fascinating scifi story. I know people gripe how the second half was just a chase movie but I think they did a good job overall. He needs to do more Idea driven movies like that. But its bay were talking about here, its ethier go big or go home.

This looks great though and I never really cared for the original at all so Im in.

really? I thought that caring for the original was part of the process of hyping or dys-hyping this one as it was made for fans no? elst why do a remake?

Anything with Kate Beckinsale has my money, think it looks pretty cool though. That one shot with Farrel blasting everyone was awesome.

Nice to see a few Sci-fi flicks coming out this year.

Nah not to me anyway, I judge a movie based on its own merits and not of its predecessor. I judged the star trek remake as its own without thinking back to the originals or the show and thinking "oh thats not right or thats not suppose to be there". This just looks like a great summer popcorn movie where I can go in on a hot day and relax for 2 hours and come out happy. I thnk if you keep comparing a remake to its original and basing hype or dishype off of that then you can drive yourself mad.

I have to admit, I haven't been thinking about this film much, which is actually odd because I love Colin Farrell... but that trailer certainly makes me wanna see it :)

If any of you have read the short story, there is no mars element to it whereas the new version doesn't have it either so at least its sticking to the source material.

Trailer was nicely edited. I'm liking it so far.

Looks much better than I thought it would look.

This smells like a load of bad acting...I am not getting excited over this remake. In fact, I am feeling confident that this will be a major letdown..

Just what I think based off the trailer

LMAO the new movie looks way more like the old movie than the short story aside from that shallow observation. This is why I won't see it. I liked the other movie just fine but I don't have to see it again and frankly the CGI during that cops scene made me laugh instead of go "whoa cool".

The short story isn't the most cinematic thing out there due to it's length but a creative mind could reinterpret it a lot more faithfully instead of just retreading the beats of that other movie based on the same source. Maybe they felt it would be way too somber for a summer blockbuster in terms of tone. But please; a spade is a spade.

hey... I haven't read the story...I'm just saying that it is what it is.

FYI it's not very smart to comment on things like that then if you're not really familiar with them. Kinda hurts your credibility when speaking on the subject and all. I'd recommend reading it BTW cause it's pretty entertaining. Well I'd recommend reading anything by Phillip K. Dick in general if you really like sci-fi.
