Toy Story 4

Welp, this just became my most anticipated film of the summer.

Review embargo for this is lifting tomorrow, a full week before its domestic premiere. Say what you want, but Disney clearly has confidence in this movie.

It's toy story, they already know it sells itself.

Apparently it's great and 'weird' whatever that means. Forky, Bo Peep and Duke are getting MVP notices

It was written like an indie flick apparently.

I'm surprised by the positive reaction to this so far. I was ready to write this off, maybe not...

Why surprised? Pixar rarely disappoints except for a very select few and each Toy Story they’ve nailed.

I always had a feeling that whatever reason they had for making a 4th after the 3rd film, it must have been good. From the sound of everything, we got another masterpiece on our hands.

They had a very good reason for making the 4th: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

But at least it appears we may have a quality film. That's a bonus.

Critics Consensus: Heartwarming, funny, and beautifully animated, Toy Story 4 manages the unlikely feat of extending -- and perhaps concluding -- a practically perfect animated saga.

Looks like there is no twist villain this time around as Gabby looks to be antagonist.

I'm a bit relieved, gotta be honest!

Oh, Pixar made another fantastic Toy Story movie? Oh, I am totally shocked... :o

The talk about this being unnecessary or any other reason to complain about its existence has never held water. Not one Toy Story movie was ever "necessary", and that never stopped them from being great. Yet people deemed it a necessary qualification for this movie. Every Toy Story ended perfectly, until the next one came out and was then the new ending point.

Since Monster University Pixar has been doing some of their best work. Yes, The Good Dinosaur was poor. But outside of that? Inside Out is arguably their best movie. Dory is superior to Nemo. Coco is fantastic. The Incredibles 2 is as good, if not better then the original. Hell, they even made an actually good Cars movie. I get it is cool to hate on Pixar now. But their output over the last 5 years has been as good as any other period.

I know people like to point to the early 2000s as the time they were on top, but I've been enjoying the overall quality of their output a lot more the last few years than their earlier films. They stumbled for a few years there, but 2015 onwards has felt like they've had a new spring in their step. I'm curious to see how things go under Docter. Aside from hopefully much less harassment.

Anytime something reaches huge heights, people then want a tear down.

The MCU will get it soon.

I don't think that's the general consensus.
Doesn't have to be. It's my opinion. But that isn't even a close call for me. Better overall story, a much better B-plot (the tank was always a bore to me), superior animation, a superior collection of characters and imo one of the greatest moments of pure emotion in all of Pixar. And that is saying something, considering it is Pixar.

Since when ? Has it ? I wasn't aware of a 'movement towards indifference'....
It's totally a thing. How Pixar aren't as a good as they use to be. They aren't the company that made Cars, Cars 2 and A Bug's Life anymore!!! :argh:
