The conservative tears must be flowing hard tonight. I’m listening to a compilation of evil laughter to celebrate.

I miss the Green Goblin emoji.😞
We had a Green Goblin emoji?

Remember when the GOP were trying to change course when Romney and McCain lost to Obama and it was to embrace the inclusion of LGBTQ+ and racial minority groups instead of pushing a platform that alienated them? It was mostly lip service, but I miss those days.

I wonder what the 2 attorney's who resigned (Dunne and Pomerantz) when Bragg first took office and said he wasn't prepared to move ahead with filing charges, are thinking now?

I think what has been shown is that Bragg wanted familiarize himself with the facts of the case before moving forward. Perhaps not, but maybe those two acted rashly.

So the chances are good there won't be a civil war if Trump loses. :D

I am not going to celebrate too much until I see the fallout play out.
I think my take is generally different from most others. I'm not happy to see Trump convicted. That's up to the jury. I'm willing to live with whatever decisions they came to. That's the law. I'm also willing to live with what happens on appeal. My concerns lie with the SCOTUS. They've shown a disturbing propensity to overrule lower court decisions when it fits a certain political purpose. That's not how it's supposed to work.

The sentencing will be really interesting. Generally speaking, you get a lighter sentence if you express contrition and don't double down on what you did. Going into a sentencing hearing saying "I did nothing wrong. The judge is corrupt. His daughter is a political operative", etc. doesn't really strike me as the best way to get a lighter sentence. Trump is, however, between a rock and a hard place. Ultimately, his fate will be determined by whether or not he gets elected in November and he HAS to attack the judge, system, etc. If he admits guilt, he figures his goose is cooked (not to mention that he's psychologically incapable of admitting he isn't perfect). So, the way I see it, he's rolling the dice, hoping for a lighter sentence anyway because of his "status" and winning the election so the other charges will go away (but Georgia's won't).

So, we'll see how this plays out in a little over a month......

I'm fairly certain Trump's current attitude is going to bite him in the ass when it comes to sentencing.

Probably a wise thing to do. Because let's be realistic, Trump most fervent supporters think he's Jesus. They'd still vote for him if he knocked on their door personally and strangled their children and pets.

Under normal conditions the person doing this would likely be stuffed from their actions - but beyond getting Trump down officially as a felon on paper, I'm not expecting much of a sentence just due to how Trump has positioned himself and being the candidate for a major party in the upcoming election. Shame but it would have been better if these charges were hitting outside of an upcoming election.
