Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Trailer Coming in February
Source:Michael Bay
December 9, 2008

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen director Michael Bay has posted an update on his official forum:

Hey everyone. Back from Egypt and Jordan - we had a wonderful shoot over there. I will miss the crew they were an amazing bunch of people and a lot of fun.

I'm stuck in the edit room up to my eye balls - also finished producing Friday the 13th and The Unborn - coming out the after the new year. Our Trailer for Transformer you have been asking about - First there will be a teaser poster soon after the new year, and the teaser trailer will be out either in the theaters early Feb. or on the Superbowl. Cannot decide yet. I'm going to release some set stills on this site in a few weeks. I'll keep you informed. Going back to do more selects now from my portable avid that I take home from work. It's late, see you.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hits conventional theaters and IMAX on June 26.

Awesome designs.

By the way, how many Transformers will we see in this movie? Whe alredy have:

. Optimus Prime.
. Bumblebee.

the more the merrier I say.

Don't worry, it won't not be that long. It's like 2 months away.
And plus we'll have a teaser poster after new year to keep us satisfied.

and Set stills................

I suspect that the teaser poster won't reveal squat, and the set stills.....what about official pics of the new TF's..? That's what the fans want. I hope for bay's sake all the secrecy crap doesn't blow up in his face and the movie under-performs.

It won't. 90% of the people who are going to go see this movie, don't know it exists yet. But they will stay pay their ten bucks to see it. By putting the trailer before the Superbowl, Bay is going to get the most exposure possible for ROTF. He doesn't need to embark on a year long marketing campaign because the first movie's numbers will carry the second. For every one of us, who are following the production day to day, there are 100 people who don't have a clue about it but will still pay to see it.

Transformers producer Don Murphy has also commented on his message board saying that they are planning to hold off on the big marketing push the film until the final stretch.

“We’re kind of trying to follow the PIRATES OF CARIBBEAN model, that is, no publicity for as long as possible, since the sequel will have enormous attention no matter what we do.”

Ah, so DM is part of TF2.

I know this is a sequal and all, but waiting til the final stretch.....they should take a page out of WB's playbook with the marketing of TDK. That movie had one of the best and most vigorous marketing plans i've EVER seen, and it paid off; just look at it's opening B.O and final take. I know TF2 will make money, but look what happened with The Incredible Hulk. They waited til the last minute too, and it did horrible at the B.O.

Febuary? I thought it was this Friday. Damn You Bay! :cmad:

sounds like false information. but whats false? that it's coming in February, or that it's coming this friday??? only time will solve this great mystery!!

(BUM bum, BUM bum)

I'm not surprised it coming in Feb. The film is a good few months away and it's got a strong predecessor.

Yeah what's up with that, I though he and teh Bay had a falling out

We're not getting a trailer 'til next year. The most fans can hope for is that someone sees it a week early and provides descriptions when the time comes.

It can't be Friday, just because trailers this big tend to get hyped by studios to get people into theaters to see the films they're attached to.

Not to mention the whole employee thing, being able to see which trailers are sent with the cans, etc.

We're always being had with this movie... it's getting ****ing stupid how badly it's being marketed... or not as the ****ing case actually is.

I'm gonna come back later when my bad mood clears.
