The Force Awakens Trilogy Villain or One by One?

which I'm hoping is about the struggle between the various factions in the Galaxy (The weak remains of the Empire trying to get their footing back, the new Republic trying to establish themselves, and the crime lords who've been the only consistent power throughout the saga.)

We've only been given a glimpse of the criminal element in the film...in the EU, the Criminal Factions have been shown to have as much power and rival the Republic/Empire in scope..I would love to see the Criminal Organizations involved in whatever type of conflict the new films have (maybe they could borrow elements of 1313)---(RotJ is my personal favorite of the OT, but my one gripe with Jabba is as hyped up as he is as being this Criminal Mastermind and having this Criminal Empire, he's farily incompetent with how he handled Han, Luke, Leia...etc...he's basically the Grievous of the OT)...

I think we need an iconic villain who can rival Vader, Maul and Palpatine.

Yes, no more of these villain of the week types. Ok for a comic book film but not for Star Wars.

Ya and the villains need to be a part of the story rather than just an initiation to fight scenes. I would not call Maul "iconic". Vader/Palps ya they were memorable. That's what we need is memorable villains like in the past few years what they've done with villains like The Joker. Something that is just bad enough that you love him for it lol. You need a character with memorable lines that people crackle again and again sort of things. I want a full fledged character with the new villain for sure.

Now the question is what will he/she be?

Was there any further investigation on that "report" that said it was going to be one of Palps ex-Sith's in training trying to re-build the Sith Armies of the old Republic era? Because Lucasfilm shot down the "Star Wars Reclamation" quickly. But I never saw any denial of those details.

That was from Cosmic Book News, and as they're very unreliable I doubt that'll amount to anything.

I think there should be one villain who goes across the story arc, but some minor villains as well. Also they should have a second badie introduced that would set up the next trilogy.

I think for now they just have plans to do only this trilogy and the spinoff movies.

It sounds like they have plans to continue beyond...but that may be all it is at this point.."plans"

I sound like a broken record but I really hope the next "trilogy" takes place during the Old Republic. But Marvel Studios seems to have quite an extensive plan, I think that is what Lucasfilm has been doing for the past almost year is trying to figure out a game plan. Of course things may change. But man to be a fly on the wall at their offices lol.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Disney wants the game plan to be almost identical for both marvel and lucasfilm. The two universes will continue to expand and become even larger until we have prequels, spinoffs, new characters, sequels, and tv shows. This current frame for lucas film is basically phase 1. Phase 2 will most likely have the old republic trilogy and the building of the spin off characters into franchises and probably even the sequel trilogy.
