I have no interest in a Tron 3 if they are dumping out everything from Tron Legacy and doing an entirely new cast
I remember there was a lot of joking about that but I think it wouldn’t have mattered if his Joker was liked. Unfortunately for Leto, nobody liked his take and he became even more of a joke. And then they made Joaquin the Joker and Leto supposedly threw a tantrum which I think made it worse.I agree with the first bit.
Of the movies I've seen he was really good in Dallas Buyers Club, his brief appearance in Blade Runner 2049, and even in his non character actor roles like Lord of War and Requiem for a Dream. I don't get why he's so hated on because it wasn't always like this. Is it because of what he did as the Joker on and offscreen? I think he was a clown for his offscreen antics surrounding SS, but if all the hate is because of that, then that would be weird to me because we give a lot of other actors passes who've done worse (again on and off screen). He seems to have just become one of the internet's punching bags when it comes to actors.
I wasn’t a huge fan of Legacy but I was interested to see Cillian Murphy return. So if this does end up actually happening after all this time, I’d like him, Hedlund and Wilde to return at least.

...and also, allegations about preying on underage women and he has a cult now too maybe???![]()
Steve then pressed Kosinski about a potential treasure trove of additional Daft Punk music that was left off the various soundtrack albums that Disney has released over the years. (There’s also stuff like “Computerized,” a single with Daft Punk and Jay-Z that was supposed to accompany the end credits but was scrapped by nervous execs which you can listen to below) “I can neither confirm nor deny that there may be some incredible music that we weren’t able to fit in the movie,” Kosinski said. “Someday it would be nice to figure out some way to share that. Disney needs some other revenue streams right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if we try to do that at some point. That’d be great.” Yes, it really would be great.
While there have been various configurations of the soundtrack, and some retailer-exclusive bonus tracks (the great “Sea of Simulation” track was a bonus track from Amazon, etc.), there has yet to be an expanded soundtrack featuring cuts that didn’t make it into the movie. Honestly, putting the Jay-Z track on a soundtrack would probably be enough to make it crack the top 10. With the tenth anniversary coming up, it’d be nice to finally get the definitive version of the soundtrack, collecting all the retailer-exclusive bonus tracks, music that didn’t make it into the movie, and “Computerized.”
EXCLUSIVE: After taking its time figuring out where its wants the next Tron installment to go, Disney’s sci-fi franchise looks to have new life as we are hearing Garth Davis has been tapped to direct the pic starring Jared Leto.
Davis has been better know for his smaller, art house films over the years like 2018’s Mary Magdalene and his critically acclaimed 2016 drama Lion, which received six Oscar nominations including for Best Picture. Tron would mark Davis’ first tentpole, and though he is not known for big-budget projects, insiders say Davis aggressively pursued the job and his take won over Disney execs in the end.
Jesse Wigutow wrote the most recent draft of the script. Leto is producing along with Justin Springer and Emma Ludbrook.
The original 1982 film starring Jeff Bridges was set inside a computer program, a cyberspace called the Grid where a computer hacker is abducted and forced to participate in gladiatorial games. The film wasn’t a hit and received mixed reviews, even though its special effects were seen as game-changing at the time. The cult following that followed in years to come as the film played on cable only helped grow its popularity, to the point where Disney decided to move forward with a sequel, Tron: Legacy, in 2010, with Bridges reprising his role and Garret Hedlund and Olivia Wilde joining the franchise.
That film did go on to have box office success, bringing in $400 million globally, but even so plans for a sequel were pushed while Disney figured out how to move the story forward. The studio eventually scrapped plans for a direct sequel to Tron: Legacy, and even after Leto attached himself in 2017, Disney was still wary about the franchise’s future.
Davis coming on to the project signals the next installment may finally happen, but insiders still stress a greenlight has not been given and that it’s still in development but Davis’ involvement is a push in the right direction.
THere are plenty a lot of actors and creators who are asses in real life that people give a pass to. People who do worse than Leto (who as far as I know just have the Suicide Squad stuff) and people still like and praise them. Leto isn't lucky enough to have made something that fans really like enough to ignore him acting an ass
And I'm not defending Leto's actions. I said specifically in my above post, I like him as an actor for a reason
I loved TL . I loved the look of the world, the music, and the use of de-aging.
If its a reboot, I think the heroes and the focus really should be teenagers or 20 somethings , with Leto as the villain or mentor figure.
I just think the idea of young people exploring and discovering the Tron world is far more exciting than going with a 40 something year old as the hero.
If Leto is the lead hero , i.e. like Hedlund's character in TL, that makes me less interested in the project.
I liked TL on a stylistic level. But I found the characters and actual story very boring, bland, and wasted potential in general. I wouldn't miss it.
That about sums up the original too.
Except Legacy has a way better soundtrack.
