Tron Legacy Sequels

In terms of story, Kosinski probably has learned from his mistakes and will make a much better sequel. Visually, he was the perfect man for the job. I'm excited for a sequel.

But...they need to bring back Cillian Murphy.

I think the whole reason Murphy was in Legacy to begin with was to set him up a the villain for the next film. That was obvious.

Anyone see the last episode of Tron: Uprising and saw this?

Well Bruce b. did say in an interview that "Cillian Murphy doesn't do cameos" so they need to bring him back.

He was basically a cameo in the first one.

He will be back. Flynn and Dillinger's sons as rival like their fathers were in the first movie. Circle completed.

So is Bridges officially out? I know he basically died, but I wasn't sure if they were going to try and bring him back.

They said something to the fact that in the next movie that they are considering to address what happens to someone when they die in the computer world. I presume we might hear or see a hologram of the creator. ;)

^It wouldnt surprise me if we did see Bridges in some form, possibly even a cameo or something like Tron from the last movie.

I'm guessing he would fill the same role as Obi-Wan in episodes 5 and 6. Or something like that.

Well the director did refer to Empire in regards to the way he wants to go with the sequel, in that second film is the best in a series.

That's certainly a high bar to set, but I'm glad they're aiming high!

And I know I'm a little late to the party with Tron Legacy (just saw it yesterday) but honestly, I really enjoyed it. I was surprised it got as much backlash as it did. I mean, yeah, the story wasn't anything amazing, but it wasn't like the original Tron was either.

It was a fun movie with some nice throwbacks to the original, and it was freakin' b-e-a-utiful! to look at it. And that was really all I needed from it.

It was an inoffensive, very fun and gorgeous movie. And it featured Jeff Bridges in 2 roles. F**k me, that's gold.

^Yep, I dont see why it got such criticism on its release, I really enjoy it every time I watch it. Cant wait for the sequel as well.

Because the story wasn't executed as well as it could've been.

Maybe that's the case, but I guess I'm a little weird in that I find Legacy more rewatchable than films I would otherwise consider to be better. I watch this thing more often than Avengers, though that might be because whereas Tom Hiddleston only had one role, Jeff Bridges had two, so I can analyze him more often than Loki.

The director said that he was forced to start with an unfinished script, later he said that he would never get stuck in that kind of situation again. An Disney executives! This is something they could get away with, with a first time director! The film turned out pretty good despite the circumstances.

Doesn't really matter too much to the audience. Most of them aren't going to walk in with knowledge of the film's production and just judge it based on the merits of the finished product. Thus, the film got mixed reviews.

I thought the story they got in Legacy was pretty amazing. I liked the father/son storyline because how many of them do we see now a days? Also there's a lot of both religious and scientific aspects to them that I quite enjoyed.

Agreed, I didnt see any issues with the story at all, and I didnt have any complaints about that aspect of it, its only when I came here I realised people had a problem with it.

Well after the movie was shot, Kosinski (the director) went up to Pixar to get their critique of the movie and suggested improvements. What people gather is that they added in Rinzler being Tron, before that Rinzler was just a skilled henchmen. They went back and did reshoots and added in Tron to the storyline. Those up at Pixar probably thought that Tron should be in a movie that's called Tron Legacy. After the movie came out people complained Tron wasn't in the movie enough, they're lucky he was in it at all! :p

I thought it was slow at times. I didn't really care much for Sam and thought Flynn was... interesting/funny. I thought there was still something missing in their relationship. Clu's plan was really flawed and it bothered me a lot. The music and visuals were nice. I hum through the entire film whenever I watch it.

Am I the only one who feels the final aerial battle was surprisingly slow?

Well sure, the father/son relationship wasn't explored as much as it could've been and the CLU/KEvin duality was more on the gimmicky side, but that doesn't really justify to me the backlash it got. Not in a world where TF movies make a billion.
