Tron Legacy Sequels

I must say, I am a bit confused by the support. I am definitely a fan of Tron Legacy, but it isn't the best of films. Paper thin in the story department, saved by the performances and visuals imo.

I love the world that was created. For some reason, I was immersed in the aesthetics and the atmosphere of the film. The visuals and the score was so slick that it made up for the thin story. I want to see if the sequel can tap into the full potential. We were already pleased by our eyes. Let's be pleased by our minds also.

The plot, dialogue, etc. wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. It was perfectly fine for the material. What the **** do you want from a Disney summer blockbuster about a dude getting sucked into a video game?

What I expect from all films, a well written story. Indy,, Jaws, Star Wars, ET, and Back to the Future are all over 30 years old. Summer blockbusters have been well written for a long time now.

hope they bring back Daft Punk to do the soundtrack and that Cillian Murphy will have a much larger role. would love it if he was the main antagonist

Oh, the story is most definitely sub par. It's more of a mood piece for me than an actual film. I actually haven't bothered revisiting Legacy since I saw it in theatres.

However I will give props for both this, and Joseph Kosinski's other film Oblivion having the theme of 'book learning is good'.

I know I might get a funny look for saying this, but I never thought Disney would make a direct sequel to Tron: Legacy after buying both Marvel and Star Wars...but I am so happy that they are since I enjoy Tron: Legacy better than most of the MCU. I am not saying it's better (well other than Iron Man 2 and Thor 2, because those movies sucked). But I can rewatch Legacy more than most Marvel Studios films because as flawed as it is with a cipher for a protagonist and an almost non-existent plot, it has a hypnotically breathtaking and cinematic atmosphere.

The visual style, the Daft Punk music, Jeff Bridges' performance, the Daft Punk music, Olivia Wilde's performance, the Daft Punk music, whatever the fudge that Michael Sheen was doing, and of course, the Daft Punk music....it's a weird intoxicating experience that is entirely surface level, but wonderfully so. It's a visceral experience as opposed to a serviceable one.

This is all a long way of saying: I was wrong. And I am very happy to be so, especially after that tantalizing ending from the last picture.
