Tron Legacy Sequels

Well, that's great thanks Disney, build our hopes up by saying it is in development and then just shoot them straight down, thanks a lot, ****ers.

Hopefully another studio is allowed to do something with the property if they aren't going to. I think Fox or Universal would take this and do something good with it.

At least T:L, from memory, had a pretty conclusive and happy ending.

Actually, they never said it was in development. And the idea that Fox could do something good with anything. :funny:

5 years ago with Fox I would have agreed with you, but the last 3 X-Men movies have been great films, as well as the Apes movies both of which are superb.

Kingsman was superb also, one of the most enjoyable movies I have seen for a while. Until Fury Road at least.

I think the info was leaked, but yes, Disney never officially announced Tron 3.

For me, the Magneto/Charles scenes of FC, TW minus the robo-samurai, DoFP and DotPotA.

Yep, they have been really good with their blockbusters the last few years. Kingsman is superb as well if you haven't seen it.

Enjoy it or not, Kingsman was a good movie, and so have been many of the recent Fox films. I like Disney a lot, but when it comes to their non-Marvel or Star Wars films they're all being so formulaic, i mean, after Pirates of the Caribbean, they tried following with the classic epic family friends with serious moments mixed with some comedy, then after Prince of Persia, John Carter and Lone Ranger, they're backing out of that strategy. In the other side of the spectrum, you have the live action remakes, which have all been the most generic and formulaic of films.

With Disney, i have almost no doubt that Tron 3 would pretty much be a decent film with just an ok script like Legacy, at a studio like Fox, i could actualy see them being a bit more challenging with what they present.

Agreed, I would love to see what Fox could do with this.

I mostly just wanted another Tron toon since Uprising was my favorite Tron-related product they made other than Legacy's music. I at least hoped Tron 3 would be more like the show.

Is Uprising worth getting into or does it just end on a unresolved cliffhanger? Interested to try it, but wouldn't want to discover that there's no resolution.

Not the unresolved kind of cliffhanger. Just the kind that sets up and gets you excited for the next season (if it had happened). But, overall you already know how it all ends anyway since it takes place between the two films.

I loved the show. It pretty much made up for everything I found lacking in Legacy. Good action and characters I actually found interesting.

I'm on the same wavelength with you about Uprising. It's a shame that it's not been greenlit with a 2nd season as the first was fantastic. Not a whole lot of quality animation out there that both adults/kiddos can enjoy anymore. It would've been great to see where they took characters/story.

That would have been the one I did cancel. On Stranger Tides just killed the franchise for me. A bad film and no Keira. What is the point!?!?!?!

Though, Kaya is now on board...

I liked Keira and Orlando's characters but clearly they were not needed for the sequel. Keira was off raising her kids and Orlando was captaining the flying dutchman.

I think the bigger problem was their replacements Sam Caflin and mermaid girl were not interesting.

After what happened with Narnia, it would have been better sitting on a shelf.

I thought the first was fairly enjoyable, but the second was bloated and boring. While the budget was lower for the third one, there was some enjoyment to be had there.

Since they just killed this project, i guess in a few years from now they could start planning a reboot, though visualy, Legacy handled it very well, i wonder how a reboot would improve upon that aspect.

Realy? I actualy enjoyed Caspian much more, and Dawn Treader just felt too corny for me, expecialy that last Aslan scene which kinda works like christian propaganda.

Yeah, if they had made a second season, I would've been totally fine with Tron 3 not happening. And as others pointed out, it pretty much ended on a good note.

This is yet another reason not to get your hopes up on a developing project unless it is actually filming.

Yeah...not entirely shocked. I figure somebody at Disney must have eventually realized it'd be easier, safer and more profitable just to back more of Iron Man & His Avenging Friends via Paramount, and keep the Jedipalooza going. Especially if "Tomorrowland" isn't putting out at the box office like they want.

I'm starting to think one of those now-accursed R-words is about the only chance that Tron has of making it back to the big screen now, and who knows when or if that'll happen.
