Tron Legacy - v2.0

 **** that. I'll just make my own when I get my bluray burner and make better labels. Seriously Disney... if you want to make me buy extra **** like that, I'm just not gonna pay for it.

ah I guess I spoke too soon, so quit your whining. :oldrazz:

Hello there. Writing from Germany, where "Tron: Legacy" premiered last Thursday for reasons unknown. Saw it yesterday, in 3D and... completely loved it! I haven't had this much fun since I watched the new "Star Trek" a couple of years ago.

I was familiar with the first TRON, watched it two months ago, in order to know the plot better and be ready for LEGACY. Can't say that I liked the movie, but I can appreciate its originality. LEGACY seemed interesting as a premise, had some great trailers, but I never thought the movie could be THIS good!

I was listening to the OST by Daft Punk ever since it got released, so to say that I liked the music is an understatement. But combining the music with the scenes, it was glorious!

I liked the cast - no complains for anyone, Jeff Bridges is a solid actor and he did a great job. Garrett Hedlund was just fine, I liked him as a character and as an actor. Olivia Wilde, well, it was the 1st time I've actually seen her act in something and let me tell you, he Quorra has an instant likeability, something that I rarely encounter in a movie. As soon as she meets Sam, her first words, her mannerisms, it all feels likeable (and yes, sexy as well). I really likes what few we saw from Tron in the flashbacks and Bruce Boxleitner had a really strong presence in his scenes. Always cool to see Cillian Murphy in a cameo and I laughed at the fact that the ENCOM CEO is a mixture of Steve Jobs and Gordon Gecko. They even had a nod at that famous Win98 presentation, where Bill Gates came face to face with a Bluescreen :woot:

Overly, I geeked out with the movie. I like my sci-fi with a touch of hyperbole and I am willing to accept a lot and LEGACY had many cool moments, be it fights, vistas, set pieces or action scenes. Kudos to Joseph Kosinski for his debut, I'll be looking forward for more from him...

On an interesting sidenote, there are some STAR WARS references that I noticed. (I will put this in spoiler tags for those who haven't seen the movie yet)

- First appearance of CLU, his attire, helmet and way of movig around his ship are very much like Darth Vader's. Plus, the bridge of his ship looks like the one from the Star Destroyer in Empire Strikes Back: The camera is low, next to ship personnel, their "cubicles" looking identical to that of the Empire.

- Rinzler is compared to Bobba Fett and Darth Maul by many posters already. Obvious enough.

- CLU is actually Sam's twisted image of a father, like Vader was to Luke. When they first meet, CLU shows in a way that he is "more machine than a man".

- If CLU is Darth Vader, then Kevin is Obi-Wan. Both dressed in robes, with CLU and his followers having red/yellow/orange colors, while the Flynns and their allies have blue/green/white colors e.g. lightsaber colors. Plus, when Sam takes the black robe from that homeless program, he reminded me of Luke Skywalker as he enters Jabba's palace in dark Jedi robes.

- Speaking of lightsabers, when Sam first gets his lightcycle stick, he begins holding it and moving it like a lightsaber, much to the amusement of Jarvis.

- The aerial battle is similar to when, in A NEW HOPE, the Millennium Falcon is pursued by TIE-Fighters and, while Han Solo tries to evade them, like Quorra does, Luke/Sam is taking the laser canon and shoots down several enemies.

I am sure there were more, but I am too tired to remember and I had only one viewing. Can't wait for the Blu-Ray, this movie is already in my TOP list! 10/10

I want the Ultimate Edition with the Identity Disc packaging.

For the people that saw Tron Legacy in IMAX 3D, which scenes (if you remember) covered the entire IMAX screen (ala TDK IMAX shots)?

The first Tron made only In the 30 million range back In 1982 so this Is case of sequel being bigger hit than original.DIsney may have expected It to go bigger but this Is still
very decent.

I just hope those of us who only have DVD will be able to rent Tron Legacy when It hits home video.

Disney promoted the s.... out of this movie for 6 months.

this is in no way the same like in 1982. Tron 2 got 2 times more promotion then any other bigbudget movie in the last 5 years.

You honestly think this got more promotion than Revenge of the Sith, X-Men: TLS, Spider-Man 3, The Dark Knight, Transformers 2, and Avatar - let alone DOUBLE?!

EDIT: Not to mention the latest Harry Potter film...

ye because using the phrase "surprisingly enjoyable" to describe a film screams fanboyism :whatever:

i am talking about promotion. i dont f... care what you enjoyed.

what? why are you claiming I am a fan boy then??? at least attempt to construct a proper argument

The same company did the suits for BEP - my friend (who worked on Rinzler's helmet) did Will.i.am's suit. They've actually had that style for a little while. :oldrazz:
