Part of the whole plan with Tron: Legacy was to launch a multi-platform new franchise which would span the movies, potential sequels, video games, animated television projects and maybe even a theme park attraction.

The animated series Tron: Uprising voice cast includes Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Nate Corddry, Lance Henriksen and Tron himself Bruce Boxleitner. It is directed by Charlie Bean, Joseph Kosinski and Sean Bailey, and is written by Tron: Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. The story is set between the original Tron and before Tron: Legacy.

Plot Synopsis:

Beck, a young program who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid. His mission is to free his home and friends from the reign of the villainous Clu 2 and his henchman General Tesler. Beck will be trained by Tron – the greatest warrior the Grid has ever known. Tron will not only teach Beck the fighting skills he needs to challenge this brutal military occupation, but will be a guide and mentor to him as he grows beyond his youthful, impulsive nature into a courageous, powerful leader. Destined to become the new protector of the system, Beck adopts Tron’s persona and becomes the archenemy of Tesler and his oppressive forces.

Tron: Uprising will begin airing on Disney XD (which I’m told is the Disney Channel’s answer for boy programing) during the Summer of 2012, after a a 10-part micro-series this Fall.

Ya it looks good and I still believe disney wants to do more. If they didn't they could have drop the show after film came out. Plus still the film did well. I think it warrents a sequel.

Hey guys, does anyone know if the blu-ray will stay the 2:40 widescreen aspect ratio like in the regular theaters or if it will be the IMAX version, where alot of the scenes were taller?

I hope so, like how The dark Knight was the imax version on bluray and the regular dvd was how it was in regular theaters. Also Avatar, that was 2:40 in regular theaters but 1:78 in IMAX and on dvd/blu-ray

On blu-ray.com it says 2.39:1 aspect ratio other than that Im not sure. I hope they use the 1:78 ratio for the IMAX scenes just like TDK, it looks fantastic on my 52" HDTV. t:

Im pretty sure it's been done before, also I think they have been working on the 10-part Tron microseries before the film came out, the actual show has yet to be worked on I think.

I know they worked on the toon during production of the film. I was just saying if disney was disapointed with the film. They could have easily just stopped production on the toon/or have it not released. But I am sure disney is still gunho in doing more with tron.

As of now I honestly dont know. All we know is the extra in the Tron: Legacy bluray is what happened the day after the events in Tron Legacy. People said that it was a teaser for Tron 3 but in actuality its just something for the fans for if they ever want to make a 3rd film.

Tron director Steven Lisberger flips through vintage production stills from his 1982 sci-fi movie in this clip video the upcoming Blu-ray release.

“Here’s the iconic image of Bruce [Boxleitner] holding the disc over his head,” says Lisberger in the clip from a “making of” featurette, just one of many bonus features about the cult hit and its 2010 sequel, Tron: Legacy. “I think it really communicates, you know, one of the main themes of the film — this idea of trying to communicate with the best in yourself.”

Tron comes out on Blu-ray April 5 and will come in a variety of combo packs with Tron: Legacy. It is available for preorder now.
