Two-Part Batman: The Long Halloween Animated film possibly in the works?!

This movie was first teased back in 2007. It takes this long to make it and you can’t even respect the original art. I desperately hoped this would emulate the original art like TDKR, TKJ, and YO.

Batman’s ears are way too short, and it seems they are just using this story as a jumping off point for their new version of Batman in this new DC animated universe. A wasted opportunity for sure.

I personally am glad that it did not emulate the original art like TKJ did

Oh, I am so excited at this new shared universe that Lukic is developing in this new style. Man of Tomorrow was great, and JSA looks to be awesome too. I love the Tim Sale art and can always read my copy of TLH if I'm looking for his interpretation of the characters.

Get me that trailer now!

And then announce a Trinity film based on Matt Wagner's book with Superman, Batman, & Wonder Woman all meeting for the first time (though, technically, that book has Superman & Batman relationship already established, but I think that can be amended)

Granted we only have one character design to go off of, but I do wish they were trying just a bit harder to emulate Sale (i.e. longer ears).

That said, I’ve wait a long time for this one and the cast is aces (Titus Welliver for Falcone is so ridiculously good), so I’m still all in.

Fair enough about the style @Slick but I think I can overlook that if the story itself is adapted well.

I’m waiting (probably in vain, but who cares?) to get a look at the rest of the character designs before I decide how I feel. Give me redhead Gordon, 90s Catwoman, huge unhinged jaw Joker and Two-Face with the same kind of burns Sale gave him, and I’ll be cool with a Batman that plays it safe.

I'm digging the art style so far. Not really feeling the idea of Jensen Ackles as Batman though..

I'm excited this is finally coming soon, I like the new visual style they developed for these movies. Was not a fan of the previous uniform look at all, this at least has some more pizazz to it. That said, I am also bummed they didn't try to do the Tim Sale style at all- the exaggerated nature of his characters mixed with the noir stylings would have translated so well to animation. Ah well, I'm sure it'll be fine (glad they're doing it in 2 parts) but ya can't help but wonder how it might be with a more abstract approach.

Looks more like Matt Wagner's Batman than Tim Sale's. Mixed feelings about this so far. I will wait to see more, but Tim Sale's art is so animation-ready, there's no need to change anything.

I wouldn't say his art style is animation ready at all. The turnarounds alone would be a nightmare and the studios WB employs would struggle with all the extra linework needed.

Bruce Timm, James Tucker, Sam Liu and now Butch Lukic has stressed repeatedly in many interviews that these movies are done on the cheap and the only reason we're soon to be hitting 45 movies and counting is because the bean counters at WB have figured out a way to balance budget with profit. If they spent more money, the line would simply lose money.

I would love it if they went back to individual adaptations with unique artstyles as they did from 2007-2013, but I guess they just aren't willing to pump that kind of money into stand-alone DTV's that could have middling profits.

I'm by no means suggesting something like "The Amazing Screw-On Head" where Mignola's art was rendered gloriously with all its lines, as that was a shorter project. However, something like both Public Enemies films and TDKR where Ed McGuiness, Michael Turner, and Frank Miller's art were streamlined is what I was hoping for Long Halloween with Tim Sale's look. Now again, I will wait for more images and footage.

With the long Halloween being such a self contained story I don't think it'd matter much. But I wouldn't be surprised if we had some voices return for a new JL.

Yupp, I'm there. Love the voice acting (especially Batman) and the design looks great.

Looks pretty good, bit disappointed Troy Baker is just doing Hamill as Joker.

I really really dislike the last couple of DC animated movies. The new (ARCHER) style looks stiff and boring. I miss hand drawn cartoons. And this story really needed Tim Sale's style.
