Ultimate Comics Thread - Part 1

maybe even Ultimate Beta Ray Bill :woot:

Haha yeah, due to the incest birth of Modi, when he becomes a teenager properly his hormones start going wacky and he becomes a Horse-Man, this is how we educate and warn about the dangers of incest!!!!!!

What's that now? Created by [BLACKOUT]Reed?[/BLACKOUT] Did I miss a key line in the issue? How do we know that?

Basically people who read Fallout already knew this, while other readers have to wait till Ultimates #5 for the reveal.

Also Hickman tweeted that Children of Tomorrow are ultimized Children of the Vault in his eyes.

Ah yes the Incest factor, where Loki is both the Grandfather and Uncle to Modi, good times :cwink:

...did you really think they were going to drop the price?

I thought the first couple of issues might've been over priced because of the hype around the book or whatever. I expected it to drop for issue 2, but apparently they're keeping the price the way it is for the duration. And with all the talking heads in this book, I can't justify paying that much.

Haha, he basically just outed himself.

Then you haven't been paying enough attention.

Every Bendis book for the past year and change has been priced at $3.99.

I don't read any other Bendis books. :o

But either way, Marvel isn't pricing the book at $3.99 just because of Bendis. They're doing it because people will buy such a high profile book like this no matter what the price tag is. A respectable company wouldn't raise the price like that, but we're talking about Marvel. I'm getting tired of it, and I'm running out of money.

Oh, I agree with that.

Which is why I've dropped every Marvel book there is except for the Ultimate books.

I'd like to stop reading them too, but I like Marvel's characters a bit too much. :o

I kinda expected the Ultimate Comics relaunch to do a bit better. Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man debuted at #9 and then dropped to #35 in the charts. Ultimate Comics: X-Men debuted at #22. Ultimate Comics: Ultimates #2 came in at #53 in the charts. And Ultimate Comics: Hawkeye #2 barely made it within the top 100.

Hopefully they will go 2.99 $ since these comics are only 20-21 pages long. Unless Axel Alonso will say: Lol we need them to be 3.99 or they will be canceled! Support them our small fanbase!

Ultimate X-Men #2 preview!

I'm a big sucker for anything Paladin/Templar related to seeing Reverend Stryker with his purifiers with Templar symbolism is beyond dreamy for me haha. I guess Jimmy will see 1st hand Mutant torture and that leads him more to the path of heroism to make a difference and never give up.

Yeah, I think dropping the price to $2.99 will probably help the Ultimate Comics line.

The price tag has definitely stopped me from buying these books. I'm trade waiting Ultimate Spiderman and Ultimates because 3.99 is just too damn much for each issue.

I'm torn on whether I want to read Ultimate X-Men or not.

The art is kinda preventing me from trying X-men. I just do not see the big deal with Paco Medina at all.

Bleeding Cool is reporting that due to DC's returnability factor and other factors, the sales charts kinda don't portray the actual amount of books that were ordered. After doing some number crunching, they report that it's very likely that not a single Marvel title is a top 10 book. Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man #1 was ordered less than Aquaman #1. ****ing Aquaman.

I read about you guys complaining about the new Ultimate Spidey, and the new price point everytime i come into this thread. LOL. Really? Really?? I miss reading and buying comics, and i won't lie- my last comic purchased was in '06, so i'm fienin' for a comic! LOL. But all jokes aside, $3.99 is steep for a nation with mad ression issues just buy a comic book. HOWEVER- for some of us, those are like four dollar investments of childhood nostaglia!

It's not a big deal when you're only buying a few comics. But when you buy multiple comics for years. The $3.99 price tag takes a toll.

Geoff Johns is a big name and i'm so glad Aquaman is getting some deserved attention.

Yeah, but what about that you could have 2 investments of childhood nostalgia for 6 bucks instead of just 1 for $4?

Thats where I start getting annoyed.

I feel all of y'all. As in: DULY NOTED. LOL. This Sunday marks my first purchase of a comic book in 5 years, and i must say- it felt damn good! I missed that feeling of walking into a comic book store, coupled with the feeling of uphoria and adrenaline working together, making me crazed with excitement. Yeah. It was a missed feeling, to say the least. I was also lucky enough to get both issues of the new USM, the #1 issue was bagged in a grey plastic pouch, kinda like the Death of Superman issue- so i was stoked to get it. I bought two USM #1's, along with issue 2, and ASM: Spider-Island. I understand everyones eagarness to see Miles as the new Spidey, but i must say that enjoyed Bendis careful fleshing out of the main character, and his supporting cast. I really made an isntant connection with Miles in issue 2, during the scenes with father in the park. It sucked that his dad killed the moment to bond with his son with one closed-minded comment, which i think will only build as Miles begins his nights web-swinging. Overall, i'm excited about this new chapter in the Spider-Man Universe, and although i will miss Peter Parker as Spider-Man, but there's no way his presence won't be felt in this new Spidey's chapter. So i'm excited to be back on board, and i look forward to cheering on Miles Morales as the new Spider-Man. BTW- i also wanna pick up the new Ultimates, is it as good as it was during the Millar/Hitch run? Thanks.

No, I agree. Ultimate Spider-Man will probably be the only 4 dollar comic I keep buying.

And no, it isn't.

Despite what Drz says. :o
