Ultimate Comics Thread - Part 1

Ultimates is good. Ultimate Hawkeye has been a good side adventure. Ultimate X-Men has been good.

Well, we're just getting introduced the new kid. If you recall Ultimate Peter's origin took a while to map out too.

I must say, I think Ultimate Hawkeye has been the best of the bunch.

Shame I'm no buying any of them anymore because they're $4. :o

I stopped buying Ultimate Spider-Man ages ago. I was kind of tempted to jump back on when this new guy took over the mask to see what all the fuss was about, but I decided against. Good to hear the rest of the stuff is positive, though. I'll probably pick up at least the first trade for the newer stuff coming out.

Ultimate Spiderman has been sloooow.

It has, but i'm loving the build up to Miles truly becoming the next Spider-Man- and if you'd read issue 3, then you know that there's a dynamic moment preparing to take place! I know everyone wants to see him full out web-swinging right out the gate, but i like the dramatic build-up of each story, and the great character development as well. We all know Bendis is gonna reward our patience once he get's in the costume. :cwink:

I am digging the new artist on Spider-Man though. He really knows how to convey emotion in the character's faces.

...there are already women writers.

A lot, actually.

Unfortunately, Marvel just doesn't employ them. :o

The Ultimate's villains remind me of Clermonts Neo for some reason

I loved Ultimates #3! The banter between Thor and Iron Man was so great as usual, can't wait for some Deus Ex Machima in the next issue. :)

Yeah, I like the cover design for the line.

I really wish for the origin stuff that they would just make a few long books. The USM really is slow right now but then after this next issue we are gonna get some serious speed. I think they should have made it like a flash back origin so we get Spiderman now.

And while we have gone over this subject over and over. On another forum someone said that it was a mistake to kill off Peter because he had so many stories left. I would argue that well DUH the character hasn't been carrying a comic in the 616 universe for decades because he's out of stories. This was around the perfect time to kill him off because the character was entering a height in his career and he MJ back................Marvel cant allow any Parker that kind of happiness. Also the point is not to hand off to Miles legacy to inherit but for him to choose to take it up.

i didnt know what joint meant in that context. so i didn't know what to say..

Marvel is giving free digital copies of Ultimate Marvel starting in February it seems, covers for Ultimates #7 and X-Men #7:
