Ultimate Comics Thread - Part 1

i didnt know what joint meant in that context. so i didn't know what to say..

LOL. Understood. I use "JOINT" as a noun to describe a place or thing- not a person however! As an example: "How do you get to that joint?" Or, "Are those the new Jordans? I gotta cop them joints!" LOL. Anyway, class dismissed. :woot:

Uhhh, did anyone pick up the latest issue of USM? I'll be picking it up tomorrow myself.

So are we getting a new psylocke and Falcon? Anyway I think issue 5 of USM will be where we get going. Issue 4 will probably train the kid.

Ultimate Hawkeye #4 preview! Not one, but TWO XORNS featured!

Kiel Phegley: Axel, there are two topics I thought pertinent to hit this week, and the first is Marvel's recent moves in digital. David Gabriel and Peter Phillips have spoken about some of the financial reasons and benefits behind things like expanded download codes in print books for the Ultimate line, the move to day-and-date and digital trades on the Barnes & Noble Nook but I wanted to get your take on how all these programs have affected Editorial if at all.

Axel Alonso: Our decisions for our first digital comics have been purely strategic and haven't affected content or the way that we make our comics. That said, we're well aware that digital comics provides new opportunities for storytelling that we intend to explore to the fullest. You'll see some of these come into play very soon, one of which I'm super-excited about.

Why do you think the Ultimate line has been the best test ground for digital moves? You've talked a lot about making those three books as cohesive as possible. Does that make them a kind of Petri dish or microcosm that you can gauge expectations for the whole line with?

Alonso: The scale and accessibility of the Ultimate Comics Universe was a factor in why we chose it as a testing ground. Also, we were betting that Miles Morales would be a lightning rod for attention -- and that the series wouldn't disappoint those who came to check it out. The response confirmed our instincts: "Ultimate Spider-Man" #1 set the record for downloads on the Marvel App.

I find it laughable that Axel Alonso thinks the Digital comcis will bring anything new. 3.99$ for 20 pages, and his confidence is based around the presumed 4 thousand sales on Marvel's application while Batman and Green Lantern we're easily outselling Miles Spidey #1 when it debuted?

Oh and abit of "hype" from 2012 Ultimate Spider-Man:
And over in the Ultimate Comics Universe, Miles Morales continues to gain fans. I was just talking with Brian [Bendis] about a story he's about to write that everyone will be talking about next year. Everyone. Quote me on that.

That art panel preview featuring Spider-Woman looks good, and makes me wonder if it has to do with her INTRODUCING herself to young Miles at the end of issue 4- which was a cool issue, and great read. The pacing has picked up in light of the events of issue 3, and Miles has now made the decision to use his powers. Ganke is such a great side-kick, and character. I've enjoyed him and Miles conversations, and sarcastic humor. Bendis hit a homerun with Ganke, i'm betting he'll be as equally as popular as Miles in the years to come- as i'm sure Miles role as Spider-Man will push al the boundaries of their relationship.

Well it seems that Hulk is now back living with the monks again, with all the high concept science stuff Hickman's doing, I wonder if we'll start to see a more spiritual twist in future Ultimates stories. Seeing some more of Lindelof's would be pretty cool.

The Hulk living with the monks!? Was that from the Ultimate Hulk vs. Wolverine mini from like 2006? Anyway, that Ultimates preview looked pretty tight! I always loved Ultimate Thor, and it looks as though he's still the badass from before! But i just never never liked the way they characterized the Hulk in the Ultimate Universe, which i'm praying they don't do to him in the upcoming Avengers movie.

Hulk ends up at back with the monks at the end of Ultimate Hawkeye 3# , teleported there by the Ultimate version of Xorn so that he can learn serenity or something. When he enters the temple someone asks him if he'd like a hot coca, we don't see them but Hulk is grinning..so my bet is Ultimate She-Hulk making a return.

I think Hickman did mention She-Hulks return, it would be awesome and it would be nice to explain her "limbo" status by having her mentally train her own Hulkness.

Ultimates #4 was another awesome issue, the reveal on the Maker isn't a big shock, but it's another issue that heavily focuses on Thor and Asgard, we get some cool dialogue bits with Tony and Fury as well. :)

Cool, cool. But there's an Ultimate She-Hulk?? (I've been out of the comic book loop for while- since '06! But, i'm back now...) Who's the Ultimate She-Hulk? Please don't let it be Betty, too! LOL. I think i gotta get back on-board with the Ultimates as well. I heard Cap hasn't been featured yet? What's going on with that?

Okay, Ultimates #4 was pretty awesome.

...It's Betty, haha leads to an extreme amount of hulk sex.
Cap left the Ultimates because he felt guilty over Peter's death, no body knows where he is currently. It's going to be covered in a future arc I think.

Cap would have been useless in this arc anyways in the long run.

Yeah, this is Thor's arc. Which is fine with me. As long as Cap comes back eventually.

Woooow. LOL. Well, the Hulk has NEEDS too, right!? And i may have to grab some back issue of the Ultimates to get caught up to speed, but i like what i see withthe previews. Thanks for the info Oberon.

Do that, my friend. The ultimate universe is pretty good in general right now.

Ultimates and Ultimate spiderman are quite damn good. Ult. X-men seems very....meh to me.

I actually enjoyed X-Men more than Spider-Man for some reason, tho i'd say the art in Spidey wins over, i just see Nick Spencer having a bigger plan, wheres Bendis is taking a slower approach, and by next year we shold see some unique badass villains for Miles.

Anyhow some info on the upcoming Ultimates issue, 1stly theres this: Jane Foster will appear in Ultimates #5 so we can see how she can help Thor with all he's gone thru now.

Scott Lang, Giant Man will appear in #5 and #6

Brian Braddock will also appear in #5 and #6

I just can't care all that much about X-Men with so many of them being dead.
