Ultimate Comics Thread - Part 1

It doesn't exist. After Fallout comes another Spider-Man #1, like what was done after Ultimatum ended.

Ultimate Q&A (Will be updated from time to time tonight)

Art tease from Hawkeye #1:
detail.jpg

@thsuing: Any chance of there being a Thunderbolts team in the Ultimate U?

Mark Paniccia: I had wanted to do an Ultimate Thunderbolts at one point, but the timing didn't work. If the right idea comes along with Brian Bendis, Jonathan Hickman or Nick Spencer, I'd be all over that.

@AntiCarnage: What is going to happen to Ultimate Venom? Any plans of bringing him back to face the new wall-crawler?

Mark Paniccia: In the immediate future, Brian will focus more on building a new cast of villains for the new Spider-Man.

@theswordisdrawn: The guy in the Captain Britain costume in the ULTIMATE COMICS ULTIMATES preview art, is that Jamie Braddock, Brian's older brother?

Mark Paniccia: Yup!

Ultimate X-Men #1 preview!

I like how it cuts between the leak of Mutants being government creations and action scenes, and damn is Kitty looking mighty fine there.

can they please get rid of Kitty's stupid red strappy costume thing?

They're gonna start drawing Hawkeye like Renner, watch.

More like Renner has been made to look like the Ultimate Hawkeye. :p Anyhow my thoughts on Ultimate Avengers conclusion:
I was so nervous and hyped at the same time before reading this, giddy with excitment as the Ultimate Avengers 2 year run finally hits the shelves and we can receive the exciting conclusion we have waited, again not just for the arc Avengers vs. Ultimates, but it's also the big conclusion of the big story arc of Nick Fury getting what he wants and now we see did he succeed or not, well granted we knew he was going to succeed but it was nonetheless highly exciting to see him climb up the ladders onto Heaven for his rightful throne.

The issue begins with Millar doing a perfect job with capturing the characters and giving them spot on quotes that people love as this issue begins with Captain America telling the Spider how the Ultimates "Because things like this are what we do for a living, Spider. You just walked out of a lab in a Halloween costume" just spot on as Captain America leads the charge againts the Korean rising. The Spider whom we now know is a lab rat experiment created for this event, but i can't beg to wonder if the joke "he's a love child from Spider-Man and Professor Xavier" was an insulting joke with a hint of truth, in the essence that the DNA of Parker and Xavier was used on a Korean test tube child to create a Super Soldier, after all the issue is filled with Gregory Stark talking about how he has gear thats 10 years ahead of everyone, is he truly that brilliant or are these hints how Kang the Conqueror was the original end game villain for the comic? Leinil Francis Yu gives us plenty of great action as the Hulked out Avengers and Ultimates battle, i gotta say i love the gauntlets Giant Man is packing with!

Things get really interesting as Gregory enters the battle, with his nanites he's able to wield Thor's hammer, but what really is interesting here is that wouldn't arguebly Thor rather be at Gregory's side? The end game with Gregory is getting the entire world more or less democratic, the downside is that you replace nuclear weaponry with super soldiers, but ultimately it's Gregory whos behind it all and thus the world should we save, no? I mean Thor was very much againts Nick Fury and in Ultimates 2 Thor was pretty muchr ight how Fury started controlling the Ultimates by telling "this country has nuclear weapons, we must stop them!" So yeah, but here we can see how incredibly interesting Gregory Stark has been with the reveal in #4 and what his big end game plan is, despite how more or less it's fueled by brotherly jealousy and Gregory love-despiring his little brother. Tony vs. Gregory ends perfectly with Tony despite being at a disadvantage is still the smartest one to outwit the superior geared brother and boom Gregory gets taken down! I love the page with Thor and Tony, Thor's face could literally be replaced with a Troll Face (please someone do this) and Tony's teary face of shock is the single best illusturated page of this issue, props to you Francis Yu for the outstanding detail! Next we have the wrap up around the Triskelion situation and it's a really clever twist of a situation and Gregory's plan comes off even more brilliant, i really liked that.

We then cut to the big conclusion of the 24 issue run, it begins with how Ultimates 1 begins with Nick Fury, it's him in one of his favourite restaraunts with Carol Danvers who couldn't possibly have the worst luck in a career history, i mean when you don't exclude anything you got the Ultimate Six chaos, you got Ultimate Doomsday in which Nick Fury helped her solve, you got the Super soldier serum in Vietnam, then you got the Mark Millar stuff with Red Skull attacking the baxter building, vampires attacking Triskelion, a near world war 3 situation going under and Nick Fury even puts the blame on Spider-Man's death to her, and this is really big for everyone even in the White House considering how Spider-Man has helped the whole country to the world, not just petty colorful pranksters in New York, but he's saved the country from the Ultimate Six before and so forth, so this death of a hero is really put into a big deal, and you know you can't help but to feel how cynical both Millar and Nick Fury are here to use the Death of Spider-Man as their advantage, it's so cruel and villanous, yet i wanna root for them?!

the Black Ops division Avengers gets things wrapped up with Monica Chang becoming their leader, now she's the one who has been the most fleshed out and rounded character of the whole Avengers saga and it really makes you smile when you look how insulting and arrogant she was towards everyone, now she's happy and loving the idea of working with Rhodey and Clint, funny how things turn out? The single panel with the Punisher was very rewarding and i'm glad Blade gets his just deserved revenge kill, sure we don't see it but we can play with our imagination what Blade would be doing to that monster. I guess Julius truly is Nick's son, but i have no idea what skin color a african american and a asian woman's child would be, especially when both also have black hair, but yeah moving on: She pretty much guesses the truth but is doubting herself is it the truth with Nick Fury being the grand schemer of things.

And we get to the big important part with the last 2 pages, this is it! The big moment! I loved it! It was Nick Fury giving the grand middle finger to Russia & China, don't mess with Nick Fury or he might come there and destroy your country and make it his. Daddy's home. Hoo-ha.

Phew that was my random thoughts regarding the entire issue, i obviously got plenty of questions and theres things to debate what Millar decided to change in his story, what caused the editorial to force some changes, because honestly i do feel Avengers 3 was the arc biggest to be changed, it was suppose to have Thor & The Spider, and to me Blade was even alluding to him being the only chance the Avengers had in Triskelion. Red Wasp was pretty much only appearing in 1st arc and a cameo on 3rd, but to me i don't feel this as a big issue, because if the writer didn't want to use her, then so be it. It works in the context of the story since Avengers are just hand picked prisoners from time to time chosen whatever wet-job seems the most suitable. I still wonder was anyone truly behind the scenes with Anthony's Iron Man armor? It had to be Nick Fury, it just had to! Also was the real motivation behind James Rhodey siding with Gregory truly because of Iron Man being a *****é with the cartoon? I can believe it, but i guess the fan me thought the "broken" was somthing far far more cynical.

Overall these 24 issues of Avengers we're what they we're promised, it showed us Nick Fury getting his job back, it showed us very villain themed stories and it truly does make sense in a more real world that these people would get murdered instead of simply being put to prison, it promised us the biggest action scenes ever and thats what all the arcs really excelled at. Captain America vs. Red Skull & AIM, Avengers vs. Cosmic Cube Red Skull, Avengers vs. Captain America, Punisher introduction, Ghost Rider's stunt on the airplane, the Avengers vs. Ghost Rider & Vengeance, Nerd Hulk vs. Anthony alongside the whole Vampire invasion to the big conclusion we had in this arc with Avengers vs. Ultimates to Heroes vs. Gregory's army, oh man was this full of great action!

As a fan i also had more craving for more details, we know about the demons and other supernatural, the vampire disease thats also a curse, the ninja clans vs. vampires and other supernatural things, i'm not complaining but the Millar fan inside me begs him to do more Marvel work haha.
laugh.gif
After all Millar has said Blade is his favourite characters, and the little he did to him was top writing and showed him as a true badass, but not invincible.

So yeah "Hell yeah what an awesome story" to the whole Ultimate Avengers, and what great conclusion does the story provide for Jonathan Hickman to taggle on to move the story even further forward.

Ultimate Fallout #1 was Peter's funeral and the ending gets me hyped for whats to come, but yeah this is a very emotional issue and it seems alot of people are tearing up for one particular scene regarding a certain child and Aunt May, it was an outstanding moment i can agree with that. :*)

Ultimate Fallout #2 preview!

God damnit i'm already getting teary, i knew the #1 ending had me pumped since i love Captain America, but man this is really getting onto me.

Anyone else think Carol looked like Anne Hathaway with blonde hair?

I was thinking Gregory Stark was a Mycroft Holmes analogy as Robert Downey Junior plays Tony Stark and Sherlock Holmes.

If Nick is Julius father he should look like Tiger Woods or something

Is the Punisher torturing the corrupt cops who killed his family?

Guess it seperates him from the other Punishers as he doesn't usually torture people for pleasure only information.

I don't think Leinil was drawing inspiration from any actors, but personally i'd love to see Daniel Craig as Gregory Stark. Utimate Fallout #2 is out! What has happened to Peter, Wolverine, Cyclops, Janet and Hank Pym you wonder?!

May they Rest in Peace heroes. :word:

I'm sorry but Wolverine and Ultimate Hank Pym don't ever belong in Valhalla as heroes. Neither does Ultimate Wasp after her bizarre acceptance of incest.

wait, so
all those guys die? I know about Spiderman, but Ult Spidey's the only Ult title I'm reading.
how'd it happen? especially Wolverine....

Yea same here I'm only reading ultimate spider-man who is dead in the ultimate universe:huh:

Thor views them as heroes. I think Wolverine did alot of good to overweight his sins, Hank Pym was a freak but his heart was at times in the right places, but yeah he was one messed up person, i just think its nice to see him and Wasp happy, thats how Thor views it.

Ultimate Cyclops was assassinated by Ultimate Quicksilver in Ultimatum.

Ultimate Wolverine was killed by Ultimate Magneto in Ultimatum.

Ultimate Wasp was eaten by Ultimate Blob in Ultimatum.

Ultimate Hank Pym sacrificed himself in Ultimatum....after eating Ultimate Blob.

Ultimate Fallout #3 preview!

Yet another exciting preview! Gregory Stark's funeral and his statue remind me of despite their differences, the Stark brotherd did love each other just like Fury believed, it's great to see even after death his influence is around and i do wonder how Millar feels that Gregory Stark is actually an Illuminate member or well, now Tony Stark receives the invitation, but honestly i can't see Tony as amoral as Gregory to ever make decisions such as SHRA or sending the Hulk to space as the 616 does.

Strommy: This all leads to Ultimate Comics Reborn, beginning with the Ultimates and Ultimate Comics Hawkeye by Jonathan Hickman!

Strommy: Hickman wants to stress that these will be monthly-shipping books. Ultimates is a big world-building book, setting the stage for all the other Ultimate books.

4:34

Strommy: Hickman says Esad Ribic, the artist on Ultimates, is doing the work of his career, "even if the writing is crap."

4:35

Strommy: Hickman says he feels it's one of the strongest things he's done at Marvel.

4:35

Strommy: Then in September, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man by Biran Bendis and Sara Pichelli kicks off, where you'll see things you could never do in the regular Marvel Universe.

4:36

Strommy: Also in September is Ultimate Comics X-Men #1, by Nick Spencer and artist Paco Medina. This is the story of when both sides of the traditional X-Men argument--co-existence vs. mutant domination--are dead, and these kids are finding their own, new way.

Strommy: Ultimate Comics Reborn is one of the things Axel really wanted to do when he became Editor-in-Chief. He wants to stress that the Ultimate Comics are one, coherent universe, with three writers--Spencer, Bendis and Hickman--working in tandem.

4:38

Strommy: Axel: "You'll only have to read three books for a single universe, not 52."

4:42

UltimateKidNova: @robnrol While there are not Ultimate FF or Ultimate Captain Britain books coming (at least not yet), the FF will be important in Ultimate X-Men while Captain Britain plays a key role in Ultimates

4:58

5:01

Strommy: Nick Spencer says, while Ultimate X-Men focuses on Rogue and Kitty, all the other X-Men and mutants will play big roles
5:02

Strommy: Johnny Storm and Bobby Drake (Human Torch and Ice Man) have big roles to play in the series as well

5:02

Strommy: Is there going to be an Ultimate Daredevil? Hickman: Not right now. Axel: They're building it slowly, so more and more characters will emerge as they continue to grow

5:11

Strommy: Fan has a question about the last issue of Ultimate X: One of the points was that made was "no more X-Men," but now there's an Ultimate X-Men. Nick Spencer says that will be addressed in the story, and to keep in mind who said that in Ultimate X and that not everyone might agree with them.

5:11

Strommy: Half the cast of Ultimate X will appear in Ultimate Hawkeye. They're setting up a new argument for who's a mutant, who's not, and it all weaves into one huge, interweaving tapestry

It's great to see Loeb's original idea with Hulk being with the X-Men come true, but yeah it seems Bruce Banner is helping the Ultimates maybe due to Nick Fury being in charge so they can keep their secret together alongside Hawkeye now too? I dunno for sure. Also i guess it is Loki whos the antagonist of the 1st arc or will he too be a victim for the Children of Tomorrow?!

Does this make sense to anyone? So the Ultimate US government made mutants, but it's the mutants who are blamed?

Pretty much because of Magneto.

Hickman tweets about Iron Man's armor

Tony Soldo said:
@JHickman The art looks fantastic. Just sad that Ultimate Iron Man has been replaced by movie Iron Man.

Jonathan Hickman said:
@Tony_Soldo - Be patient, it'll take time to fix some things.

So something more unique than a Movie-looking armor, very nice. :)

Ultimates, but with Fury back in charge it seems they can keep the secret between themsleves and Hawkeye, but then that makes Carol Danvers seem kinda bad because you'd imagen she also would care for the good mutants. <_>
