you sir, are pathetic.

Why, because I'd rather watch movies than sports?

:whatever:

I played Football for two years in high school...:down blah...

I don't hate athletes. I hate jocks; big difference.

You tried your best, didn't you? Did you want to be Bobby Boucher?

I did try my best. It's just that because I was playing, I was stuck alongside that whole frat-guy mentality that spills out onto high school guys. Jocks are morons, and two years of playing a game alongside them was just...ughh.

Plus I live in Texas, which is like football central.

I guess I just fail to see the importance of a 'game' that's all. People here at home make football and sports a bigger deal than I personally think it ever needs to be...

I mean, the school and people I was playing for and with took it as seriously as, say, the war in Iraq. I'm talking scary hardcore.

It's just a stupid game...

I've always thought of myself as having the perfect mindset to be very successful and sports. I am not a small man either at 6'1". I really should have been 'the one' that was chosen to be the best player on the team. That's my whole problem with sports, the coaches are idiots. I could have made any team a winner - FACT, but the coaches didn't know my dad or I didn't have an older brother or cousin on the team or.... oh yeah, I AIN'T GOING TO TAKE YOUR S**T EITHER COACH!!!

You shouldn't have got me started. Sports are so overly hyped and the jocks so egotistical that I actually think it's a detriment to society. Professional athletes, IMO, are the quivalent to snot nosed high school
punks in their thinking. Trust me, the media and their agents shine them up real nice and pretty but they are the biggest jerks on the planet. 99% of them talk smack about everyone and their mother behind their backs and don't have the balls to step out the closet(locker room) when they are face to face with the ones they talk s**t about. I know they do because all the steroids they took make them the only ones, physically, who can back up what they say to anyone. But in typical worm-like, coward fashion they don't say the ***** they say in private in public. Ironically, pro-athletes may be the biggest cowards on the planet.

Sorry... with 1024 movies... You should be including things pre-1939... For example you should be including the following movies Frankenstein (1931), Scarface (1933), Nosferatu (1922), Birth of a Nation (1915), Duck Soup (1933), City Lights (1931), I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang (1932), Dr. Caligari (1920), Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926), Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs (1937), Bringing up Baby (1938), Metropolis (1929) The General (1927), King Kong (1933), Angels wtih Dirty Faces (1938) and Battleship Potemkin (1925).

Funny, of the films you mentioned not a single one was ever nominated for anything.

im sorry, but nominations don't anything. most of the movies listed like Nosferatu, the original Dracula, Phantom of the Opera, and others are truly masterpieces, who now days are not praised due to them being black and white, not having enough action, and don't appeal to the general audience because we are used to CGI, large explosions, and movies in color, movies heavily edited.

I just hope newer truely good films are not snubbed in this. Please do old and new movies.

Your kidding me right? TELL ME YOUR KIDDING ME!

The following films are on the American Film Institute's list for BEST 100 FILMS OF ALL TIME:

Frankenstein(1931), Birth of a Nation (1915), Duck Soup (1933), City Lights (1931), , Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs (1937), Bringing up Baby (1938), King Kong (1933), Angels wtih Dirty Faces (1938).

Scarface (1933) - Though not on the list is hugely significant, it single handly change the course of films forever by forcing movie studios to enforce the Production Code which brought with it heavy censoring for the next 40-60 years.

I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang (1932) - Nominated for Best Picture, Actor, and Sound

The General (1927) - Pretty much the outline for the modern action film

The following are foreign films

Nosferatu (1922), Metropolis (1929) & Dr. Caligari (1920) - German Expressionism, next time you watch any Universal Monster Film or even Film Noir, you can thank these films for that lighting you enjoy so much.

Adventures of Prince Achmed (1926) - First animated feature length film

Battleship Potemkin (1925) - The basis for modern editing techiques...

Yeah you were saying?

I have but Mvies2O5 wants me to include the caveman short film 'How to Make the Wheel' and the sequel 'Burn, Fire Burn.'

Seriously though. I do have a mix of the two but of course, there are more newer films. Basically the older ones are eliminated because not as many people have seen them and know them. The question to hopefully be answered is not which movie is older, the question to be answered is... RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW... WHAT IS THE ALL-TIME BEST MOVIE???

1024 MOVIE'S ULTIMATE MAXIMUM TOURNAMENT
Round 1 : Bracket A
Battle 1(3 hour time limit)
2001: A Space Odyssey(1968) VS. Zodiac(2007)

I considered it but those movies kind of suck in most peoples opinions. The percentage of people who would watch these movies over any on the list is so small it's almost not worth mentioning. Are they classics? To my grandma. If you think these should be on the list then you obviously think they have a chance at winning but I'm sorry, Deuce Bigelow is more entertaining than any of those you mentioned. Call me a stupid boob but I'm honest and thinking for myself. A case can be made for King Kong but that's why I put the all new and improved remake on the list. Scarface? We got Pacino dude. Metropolis is one I almost put on and I still may the problem is I made this tournament for casual movie fans too, not just movie buffs, and most won't know any of these movies or vote for them for that matter. They would have been wasted brackets.

Just wondering, do you know the 1939 movie I have on the list off the top of your head?
OH. MY. GOD. :wow: You are a real expert, huh? Maybe you need to try watching some older movies before you pass judgements. You obviously know nothing and you have major add issues because older movies are "boring" to you. Also, Raging Bull was made in 1980. You dumbass. :o

I have watched older movies when I was a child. They were good then but they didn't manage to 'stick' with me through the years in any real way, shape, or form. In other words, they were so bad that they made me stop watching televison.

As for Raging Bull being 1980, mistake on my part. It just looks so darn old.

I'm glad you think I'm an expert but I assure you I am not.

Because it's in Black and White :D You realize that color was around since the mid-30s, yet it didn't hit mainstream till the mid 60s... I wonder why:huh: [/Sarcasm]

I am well aware that color has been around a lot longer than people think. It didn't mainstream for nearly 30 years because that is how society and technology work. Any thing that hits the mainstream has been around in very small and private circles for nearly 30 years. In other words, all these hi-def t.v.'s people are getting were actually being used in special, selected homes 30 years ago. No technological advance is allowed to hit mainstream public until it is tested out by the government for at least 25-30 years.

No.. It's because the artist using them prefer black and white to color, just like they prefered full-screen to wide-screen etc... There two different ways of telling a story which provide an artist with different tools. Black and White allows for more detail especially in Noir while Color gives the artist ability to relay different emotions through color among other things... And then TV came out and studios started pushing things people couldn't see on TV ala widescreen and color, so artists would forced to use it. People simply got use to color, one is not better than the other one.

Excuse me, but where exactly did I say one wa better than the other??? Here's a clue Sherlock, I didn't.:whatever:

You really have no reason to be complaining. I've heard your complaints and addressed them. The movies you have mentioned can be part of the consolation tournament at the end of the main tournament. Any other movies you or anyone else would like placed into the Consolation Tournament you can PM to me and I will place them in the tourny. Then we can have the consolation winner(underdog) vs. the Best Movie of all Time(favorite.) Quit your crying and enjoy the tournament.

2001. Space Odyssey's.

although, i agree there should be mention of the old movies since your calling it BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME tournament and not, the what guys today are most likely to watch. You'll be surprised how many like the old B&W silence fillms, film which have made a tremendous impact on films today.

And they'll get a fair chance at the end in the consolation tournament.

Due to lack of voting the match will remain open until the minimum votes required are received.

This is not the turn out I hoped for. The winner is going to be declared in 27 minutes regardless of the amount of votes. I don't have forever to do this.
