A little crooked but here it is:

He hurt his wrist lifting a car. There's nothing implied about that at all. He does the same thing he does there when he breaks Flashes hand, and when he first sticks to walls. At most, they were teasing organic webshooters, which we all know didn't happen.

You can't seem to grasp the simple concept of "Ow, I guess I over-estimated my super strenght when lifting that car!" It's ok, we forgive you this time...

I always read those moments as teases to the organic webbing that never happened. I also remember that the webbing that was shown on the covers for the first few issues was green instead of the classic grey, and thinking that that was also a hint to the webbing being organic. I don't remember if it ever was green inside the actual issues though, but it always seemed to me like they were planning on going organic but for one reason or another changed their mind before the webbing was actually introduced into the story.

I, too, remember it being green on the covers but I think it was always gray in the issues. Maybe just a cover coloring problem.

That scan doesn't hint anything to me about organic webbing. what's on the next page? Didn't Peter's dad invent some kinda sticky formula but Pete invented the actual shooters? That rings a bell for me. And my bells are hard to ring.

In fact, that panel actually reminds me of the movie where Peter stares at his hand and sees the tiny spider, uh... sticky.... things that let him stick to the walls (whatever they are called)

I always just took that scene to show that his body was still adjusting to his powers.

It seemed pretty forced to me. I mean apparntly they've been planning this all along, but the first issue was a lot of "hey, coincidence, we all know each other from back when!" and other such plot devices.

Besides, we all know the Ultimate universe is just a creation of someone in the 616 universe to see how things would of unfolded if there were certain elements changed.

For the most part I've actually enjoyed the differences in the Ultimate verse. It made me actually like Iron Man and Thor, both of whom I could have cared less about before. I much prefer the Ultimate version of Nick Fury. My only real complaints are how boring UFF got after a while and that they killed off Gambit. I think this alternate universe still works and I'm not ready to quit on it just yet.

One thing Bendis is known for is writing natural dialogue. I don't know about you, but if I pick up something heavy, and hurt myself in the process, I don't congratulate myself first, then say, "Son of a %*$@! That hurt!" I drop whatever heavy thing I was holding and say, "Ow. That was way too heavy." Okay, I still probably swear, but that's neither here nor there.

I've also enjoyed the diff between the two universes. I loved the Ultimates, but never cared for the Avengers. ANY Avengers.

From their interactions in UXM, we know Fury and Logan knew each other already. Fury actually calls him "Jim" most of the time. Same goes for Captain America, who was actually the one to reveal to everyone else that back in WWII Logan was James "Lucky Jim" Howlett. I bet we'll see the two of them together too, Canada and Americas super soldiers working together.

I don't read any of the ultimate line really, and when I did it was a while ago so I don't remember much.

Just seemed like a lot of it was awefully expositional.

I was actually hoping for something like that with this last go around with Apocolypse, but alas, I had to settle for Beast which was okay, since I like him too..

I actually think Gambit got off easy with the state X-Men has been in lately. It's not terrible, but since Bendis left after his arc, the quality has dropped considerabley.

Which is so odd when you read Kirkman's Invincible. That is so much great fun and so darkly tinted.

I mean, the pacing is GREAT in that series. Yet, Kirkman's pacing in X-Men is so perfunctory and rushed. It irks the **** out of me.

I do prefer a slower paced book, probably why I like Ult. Spiderman so much. When things go too quickly, I feel like I am missing something.

The Apocalypse arc should have been at LEAST 8 issue long, like the Clone Saga arc in USM.

How long was the Apoc arc? I stopped getting UXM in the middle of the reimergence of Phoenix (the the Shi'ar was explained as a religion and not an alien race). I just kinda lost interest.

I think a story arc should be as long as it needs to be. I hate it when a story goes for 12 issues when it could've been done in 8 or when it's told in 4 when it SHOULD'VE had 8.

4 issue, I believe. So it was actually shorter than most arcs. And I don't mind the Shi'ar as a religion, although it's never been said they're NOT aliens. They could be humanoid aliens posing as a religion, who knows.
