Ultimatum Begins!

I think his comics have sucked in large part because he's been dividing his time between comics and tv for the past, what, 7-8 years? I'm hoping that now that he is off Heroes, he'll decide to do comics full-time for awhile and perhaps put out better overall stories.

Personally, I find the beginning of Loeb's descent into absolute suckitude is when his son was approaching the end of his life. During his run on Superman/Batman, most of his work has become barely readable.

I think she's a gonner. Loeb wasted no time in getting into the bloodletting. :(

wow, didn't know that. Just wiki'd it. That bites. I just cut him a TON of slack.

Yeah, I think she was the only on-panel death @ this point. there may have more, but they weren't shown.
I'd love to know for sure about Beast. It sucks they bring him back just to kill him off so quick. :(

I do the same. I mean seriously there literally is a point where Loeb's work has gone so far downhill as opposed to a gradual descent into ****tyness.

And of course Loeb did take it pretty hard. I have nothing but the deepest sympathies for the man.

Well, it would seem that
The Beast and Nightcrawler have the abilities to survive a flood, but Prof X declared them dead.
. I don't see the rationale of killing either of them bc they would be valuable as solo characters outside of the X-men. But when you think about the scope and size of the Ultimate Universe, then i guess they're acceptable losses. Though it were me, I were disbanding the X-men,
I'd kill off Cyclops, w/o him they aren't a team and angel has no value, Iceman would be gone. I'd probably just leave wolverine, kurt, storm, and hank. As far as the FF, The Thing seems the less valuable. As far as the Ultimates....that's a tough one. I'd off the "current" hawkeye. Thor's underage fling needs 2 go and I'm not sure about the Pyms. With Mags children gone, you need an unstable couple in the mix.

Aw, I like..
...the current Hawkeye. He's a lot more badass and interesting to me than he was before. I love a hero with a deathwish. Makes them reckless and dangerous. :)

He has my sympathy as well, but I still wouldn't read his comics.

"Captain America: White" should probably keep you buying Jeph Loeb-helmed titles.

So I'm thinking by the end of Ultimatum, if Human Torch is really dead than what if Spider-Man became the new 4th member, I mean permanently, It would be a good reason for canceling UFF. I also feel like since Mutants in the Ult Universe are pretty much no different than a superhuman, and since UXM is being cancelled maybe we could see the Ultimates combinding with the Ultimate X-Men. And in the end the UFF would work very closely or also be combined with the Ultimates to form one huge group. This could be a big reason for killing off so many characters, so they can really show a difference in the Ult Uni and the 616 Uni.

Or maybe Firestar will be the replacement in the FF, after all she does practically the same thing as Johnny. That would be kinda interesting.

Really? Because I don't think we're going to see it anytime soon in spite of the ads. They solicited the #1 three months ago and then never solicited another issue. Who knows when it will come out. Probably when we see the rest of Ultimate Hulk/Wolverine... :p

It's a series consisting of one released issue and lots of broken dreams and angst.

re: "Daredevil: Target"
issue 2 is done. issue 3 needs an artist.

edit: I love Marvel's post of CA:W 1, supposedly coming out Dec. 31, 2013!

:cwink:

The Torch/Spider-Man relationship IS the only reason he would join that group. Like i said bf, johnny isn't gone. he's valuable. The Thing or even Sue could go and there still be a FF. No Torch or Reed = No FF. Killing off most of the X-Men doesn't do much. In the Ult U, there' still a crapload of mutants. Just more work for the Ultimates

Hmmm, I wonder what happened to the characters who live in New York like the Spidey-villains, the Marvel Knights and the Kingpin and such...seems unresolved. I'm sure if it's not explicited stated (like Peter's classmates) they can probably say they've survived.

I also noticed when Professor X says "Kurt, Hank, Alison", only Alison is bolded, perhaps emphasizing that she is indeed dead while the others are just 'gone'

Why cant Torch die, the point of the ULT Uni is that its supposed to be different.

Also we'll probably see more of the aftermath in the next issue, we should find out by the end of issue 2 some of the characters still alive...

Wasp (Why wouldn't she grow like Pym)
Hawkeye (How would he survive)
Nightcrawler (Could easily teleport out)
Beast (Was with Nightcrawler)
Human Torch (His powers wouldn't even work)
Everybody Else

They should've called this Ultimate Disassembled
