Ultimatum Begins!

Any idea who's writing it? Please don't say Loeb.
I heard Loeb/Madura on Ultimates just as was Ultimates 3(groan). But then I heard Millar/Hitch will return for Ultimate Avengers (I have no clue as to the team roster on this). Bendis and his regular guy will continue on Ult Spiderman. Last I knew anyhow. :) Ultimate X-men and UFF are cancelled. :(

Yes/no and yes/no.

Loeb is writing Ultimates 4, but Frank Cho will be drawing, not Joe MAD. Once again continuing Ultimates' proud tradition of chronically slow artists.

And as for Ultimate Avengers, Millar is writing, but there will be a new artist for every six issues. One of them will be Lenil Yu, though I don't know which arc he'll be on for.

Loeb/Mad dont fit the Ultimates style they are both way more 616. I still love Loeb and Mad, but they just have more of that 616 feel to them. It's the opposite for Millar and Hitch, especially Hitch. When I read FF, I feel like it should be an UFF story, Millar fits the 616 but his style of writing is much more Ultimate. Same with Hitch, everytime I look at his art I feel like its an Ultimate book.

Okay. :)

I think Coipel and McNiven would be good artists for the Ultimate Universe, especially The Ultimates. That would also be consistent with slow paced artists.

Coipel needs to keep making Thor pretty.
McNiven can be cool with Millar for the Ultimate U.

If Coipel can speed his slow ass up, he should stay on Thor. If not, cast him off to the Ultimate universe.

I'd rather have 6 issues of beauty a year, than 12 of an inferior product.
Not to say that I agree with the viewpoint, but isn't that why people are bagging on Hitch, because he loosened up his artwork to put out a book on a timely schedule?
and now the book is delayed as well...

No, I'm actually rather glad that Hitch is drawing faster. The quality doesn't seem to have dropped too much, but I haven't seen every panel of every page since I'm not reading FF.

But it doesn't have to be an either/or. If an artist is slow, that's fine; just schedule accordingly. Put them on mini-series or have at least 3/4ths or even all of their arc in hand before you start printing them as issues. The current system of big-name artists and their utter inability to meet deadlines is as much the fault of editorial for not factoring the artists' slow-ass penciling into the equation as it is of the artists in question.

I think Hitch's art has dropped pretty badly, his style needs to be clean and precise. I think he did Giant-Size Astonishing X-Men and it looked so rushed, it really lokked horrible, atleast compared to 4-5 years ago. Hitch's art is pretty much why I got back into comics years ago, it was so precise it looked like a big budget movie, the art looked clean and realistic. GSAX-Men & FF look really sketchy and cheap, when Hitch rushes he just looks like he should be drawing DareDevil, Moon Knight or IronFist.

John Cassaday drew GIANT-SIZE ASTONISHING X-MEN #1. Also, if Hitch can't produce quality artwork on a monthly basis, the powers-that-be should stop commiting him to monthly books. And DAREDEVIL and IMMORTAL IRON FIST have been two of the best comic books that Marvel have been putting out recently.

He brings in WAY too much money for them to committing him to monthly books - look at Fantastic Four 4 sales increase

It's still not selling particularly well for such a big-name team, though.

In other Ultimatum news... as anyone who read the final issue to the Symbiotes arc in Ultimate Spider-Man already knows

It turns out the Beetle was working for Dr. Doom, or SOMEONE in Latveria, and as the arc closed, Beetle captured the Venom symbiote and Brock in some sort of containment/wrist trap... like Ghostbusters. So it looks like Venom might factor into the latter part of Ultimatum after Magneto is revealed to the heroes as merely being a puppet of Doom... that would be my guess anyway.

So in UXM, they only say Dazzler and Kurt die, they mention nothing about Beast. How the hell does Nightcrawler not survive?

he can only teleport where he can see right?
it's possible he bamfs and kills himself?

I'm guessing Beast is going with Scott, Logan, Jean (and presumably Storm and Colossus) to kick some Magneto booty since Jean says "the original team is going to deal with this".
