Uncanny X-Force

I'm settling for the X-Force right now as my only DP fix. It's good enough for me for now. :)

DeadpoolMAX was fantastic. I'm really looking forward from more from Lapham.

Just read the first issue and really enjoyed it.I think it's gonna be one of my new favorites along with Aaron's Wolverine.I wish more people would write Deadpool the way Remeder wrote him this issue. No dual voices!

I like all the voices myself. They amuse me. :p

Deadpool, I think, is a very tricky character to write and you have walk a fine line with.

Deadpool: Max and Deadpool:Wade Wilsons War were both great, great reads and I highly recommend them.
Uncanny X-Force joins those ranks.

I had no intention of picking this title up and for no real reason. A friend of mine did buy it and thought it was really well done. Still I had no intention until I walked into my comic shop and saw they offered an X-Force sketch cover, so I grabbed the 3 copies they had to work on them. The other day I was board and figured "hey, why not?" and gave it a read and am damn glad I did!

Not only was the writing great but the artist is just fantastic!! Hopefully Marvel gives this guy the big push he deserves.

I firmly believe that Remender, Gischler and Gillen are on the path to lead the X-Books back to a level of greatness like they were in the past. X-Men vol 3 and UXF #1 are some of the best X-Men stories I've read in a long time. I'm eagerly awaiting Gillen's UXM.

X-Men has been decent but not really spectacular to me. My main problems are the slightly wonky plotting (Cyclops jumping from sending a small expeditionary force out to collect vamp samples to suddenly deciding their absolute only option is resurrecting Dracula, for example) and the fact that the team has literally no likable characters at this point. Colossus was okay, but he's been there for, what, 3 pages in the 4 issues so far?

X-force is the best X-men related title and Im glad you like it. I was loving the old series for the past 2 years and so far this new one seems to be just as good if not better

I forgot he would be on UXM and thought you were tlaking about Generation Hope...lol

I give it six months before Fraction's off of UXM and Gillen's running the ship.

I doubt it'll even be 6 months. Brubaker and Fraction only co-wrote UXM for about 4 issues before Brubaker departed, and Bru & Frac were joined at the hip in those days.

Fraction and Gillen will probably write one storyline together before Fraction leaves. Thankfully, we no longer live in the era where all stories must be 6 issues long.

Brubaker went and gave us a 12 issue arc and people complained...lol.

I'm one of the few people who liked Rise & Fall-- until the lack of an ending, anyway.

Me too. I loved it but there was no payoff at the end which kinda ruined an otherwise great story he told

It was the story that never ended. It was left open at the end of Rise and Fall, then left open at the end of Emperer Vulcan, then left open at the end of King Breaker, and then concluded in War of Kings without any concluding feeling for the X-Men/Starjammers, which were the main protagonists leading up to it.

yeah the X-men were kinda phased out of that which was odd considering it was their saga for the last 2-3 years. The next story after that, Realm of Kings, revealed that they werent even with the Starjammers anymore, leaving us wondering WTF even happened with them. Which brings us back to Uncanny X-force, where Havok and Polaris will at least presumably play a role somewhere in future issues. Looking forward to seeing Remender handle them

Me too. I love Havoc but he's always underplayed. Remender's a good writer so I'm hoping he helps Havoc to shine.

Personally, I'd love to see Havoc shine as a hero whereas his brother Cyclops has been taking the darker route.

I wonder what Gillen has to say about Fraction completely ignoring his work on THOR

...must be some interesting writing sessions for uncanny

Eh, Gillen wrote pretty self-contained arcs. Not sure what would've needed to be referenced for Fraction's run.

I just don't see how Fraction keeps getting work. His Uncanny X-Mne is absolutly horrific. I'm currently reading it because Whilce Portacio is doing the art and just reading it makes my brain hurt. Those stupid captions (ex: "Iceman. Mutant. Ice.Man.") are just annoying! Who taught him to write that way?!? And as for Fractions stories-I've seen less gaping holes in porno!

Hopefully he'll say in a few months, "and don't let the door hit you on the way out!"

Oh brother.

Sisterhood, El Bastardo! Sisterhood was filled with gigantic plot holes!

The caption boxes are hit or miss. Sometimes you get good stuff like "Cyclops--Scott Summers--Leader of the people." Other times you get stuff like "Karma--Xi'an Coy Manh--Likes Girls." Because, you know, Karma's sexual orientation is her most defining characteristic.
