Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Part 1

The AMC event was pretty cool. The footage they showed was stuff we had already seen. The exception was that they played further through the Desert Village level, which was cool. We were given an Uncharted 3 drawstring bag, a Drakes Journal replica, a replica of his wristband/bracelet, an exclusive torso skin for the MP, 30 day trial of Plus, and a Subway gift card. My team lost in the tourney. We had two guys who had never played before.

Still had fun, plus I get my copy of the game on or around the 27th. Can't complain.

Looks like another new map was added called Facility in like an abandoned and iced over submarine dock station.

Another reused map from UC2. I hope they have more new maps created for this game, and they aren't just saving them for the DLC.

10 or Bust.

Actually I am expecting nothing lower than a 9.5.

Going by the first 2, it deserves nothing less than a perfect score.
My only concern is that some people will look at it as more of the same of the second one, therefore they will underscore it. I mean, they've definitely stepped their game up with the story and presentation, and just matching the gameplay would still make it great. But I feel like it could easily fall into the same trouble that the Assassin Creed games have had where the gameplay feels the same. I don't think that will be the case, but I can see people overlooking some of it considering we've already seen some pretty awesome things in the demos so far.

Yea thats possible, but with Naughty Dogs unmatched story telling and characters, i dont think it will.

I hate how having 'more of the same' is apparently a bad thing... Isn't that just a negatively phrased way of saying 'consistent', or in the case of a series like Uncharted, 'consistently excellent'. I mean, if you look at all the crazy stuff in that launch trailer, the story, the characters, the visual spectacle, and you sigh and go
'Oh dear, more of the same" then I'm sorry, but you have officially become a wanker. This isn't 'Tim Burton' more of the same, this is the case when something is exectedly awesome... It doesn't detract from the quality of the game at all, not in any way.

True, there's nothing wrong with being consistent, especially when it's consistent at a high level like Uncharted has proved to be, which I why I don't expect anything lower than a 9.5.

But I think there is also this expectancy and desire to see things raise the bar to a whole other level, otherwise things will start to feel repetitive. Like I know a lot of people were greatly impressed with Assassin's Creed 2 after seeing the first one, but with Brotherhood, I've heard a lot of people say they lost interest because of the repetitiveness, and how they aren't too excited for Revelations because it more or less feels like the same exact game, give or take some new weapons and features. Even with Uncharted 2, I've heard people say that some parts were predictable and kinda took them out of the experience for a while.

But judging from what we've already seen, it does seem like they have some awesome moments with the plane and ship stuff, and there can definitely be more regarding things we haven't seen yet, so they may very well still have some big surprises under their sleeves that can blow us away even more than before.

Well at least in the case of the Multiplayer, they definitely stepped it up, though melee combat is still kind of wonky and unbalanced. But I mean multiplayer alone has been totally souped up.

See, I enjoyed Brotherhood because i felt like they kept pushing that new formula. I mean, the MP in that game alone was so refreshingly different and 'anti-COD'. I'd say Uncharted is more or less in the same. In fact, I'd say the improvements between AC 1 and AC 2 outweigh the improvements between UC 1 and UC 2, simply because it WAS so drastically different. Again, you should judge the quality of a game by how it stands as a game, not about whether it's like it's predecessors. I saw a few reviews for Gears 3, where the only thing they marked against it was that for the most part, the gameplay was the same as Gears 1 and 2. That's not a bad thing for EVERYONE though, is it?

So some magazine scores have trickled through. So far we have:

Playmania- 9.9/10
Level Sweden- 10/10
OPM Spain- 9.8/10
PS Mania- 4.5/5

The online review embargo ends on the 24th. Should be interesting.

I don't really care what the ratings are. I decided I was going to buy it half way through Uncharted 2.

If it sounded fake and forced, it was probably just Harrison Ford acting ;)

Oh no you didn't! :o

I keep watching that scene in the trailer when Drake is battling some baddies on trucks rolling through the desert. Reminds me so much of Indiana Jones, I love it.

I just finished UC2 last night. Amazing game. They really cranked up everything with the sequel and its amazing how much better it is than UC1 in every possible way. So many large set pieces and cinematic moments. It felt like a large blockbuster. I love the sections where the environment is being destroyed around you. Just amazing. Im so ready for UC3 now

Haha you act like you just finished it for the first time. The true mark of an incredible game. Theres only a handful of games that make me feel that way.

Ill be going through both Drakes Fortune and Among Thieves(for the umpteenth time) this week in preparation. Just gotta force myself to put down Batman.

So far so great, altho i never pay any attention to "official" mags. OPM giving a Playstation exclusive a high score? NO WAY!

Still i expect Drakes Deception to be like the last 2 games, which is to say, nearly flawless.

LOL. Im the same. After i put the controller down for Drakes Fortune, i realized Naughty Dog had my money when ever they so decided to ask.

Yeah, I remember I only bought a PS3 for U2, having never played any of them. I got the PS3 and UC 1 like 2 weeks before U2 came out. I had committed my money to that series before I every played it!

I win P

I decided i was going to get a PS3 when i first heard about the concept for the game. I had always wanted a tomb raider-esque game but featuring a protagonist more along the lines of Indiana Jones. So when i heard about UC, i was sold. I believe the first Uncharted came out in November and i was considering get my PS3 then, but i waited because MGS4 was gonna be out that summer and i figured i could get it then with a bundle(which i did). I did however make my buddy bring his PS3 over so i could at least play the demo for it. Nathan Drake instantly shot to the top of my fav video game characters list, second to only 47 from the Hitman series.
