You have to be insane if you spend $235 million on a video game adaptation considering the lacklustre performance of previous adaptations. Even under normal circumstances without an ongoing pandemic.

Hollywood has consistently had a hard time coming up with a good video game to movie adaptation, and this is already a misbegotten concept that’s gonna piss off fans of the Uncharted games who aren’t interested in Nathan Drake: The Early Years.

I love Tom Holland, but I’m not such a blind fanboy that I don’t realize it’s a dubious role/casting, and I don’t like Mark Wahlberg in general.

The most to hope for is it just being a fun action-adventure flick in and of itself.

Sony gonna Sony. They’ve had a few hits the last few years (Spider-verse, Jumanji, Venom) so it’s good they take risks. But someone over there needs to learn what ROI is.

I can think of 3 reasons that budget is so high.

1. After the MCU Tom Holland probably has a huge price tag.

2. Mark Wahlberg probably isn't cheap either.

3. The fantasy elements and action will probably require heavy cgi.

I expect Sony is banking on Tom and Mark getting a lot of butts in theater seats so they probably consider the price acceptable. Maybe they are right, but with that budget and the marketing budget which will probably be around $70 million on top of the $235 million this film is going to need to make at least $600 million in a post covid world.

Wahlberg is probably a lot more expensive than Holland.

Supposedly Tom Holland’s base salary per movie these days is $4-5 million.

Mark Wahlberg got paid $17 million for his Transformers movie alone which is more than Tom Holland’s whole net worth (reportedly).

The CGI, sets, and location filming is probably more expensive than the actors.

Budget still seems bloated though.

Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, and Antonio Banderas are filming currently on a street in Barcelona.

Just when I thought nothing could be more stupid about this movie, I saw the budget :loco:

Great to see them together. funny story, Nolan North used to skateboard literally up the street from my house. When I met him in 2016, I also found out he played baseball with my uncle. super nice guy!

On the topic of the movie, I'm not getting good vibes from anything I'm seeing. Could it be good? Sure, but there's a lot that's off about it so far in my mind.

Just a shame all that effort and money is being wasted on this. They could really have given us a definitive Uncharted movie with that budget and the right people.

Tom said on his Instagram that they’re on the last two days of filming.

He was also talking up the movie’s scale on his dad’s podcast the other day and said he’s done more action scenes, wirework, and fight scenes than he’s ever done before.

From a visual standpoint, yeah that looks better than I would’ve expected. Still a little strange.

I mean idk it just feels like he's doing cosplay. Which I mean essentially I mean he's doing it professionally, with acting, etc.

Idk like Ninjablade says it just feels strange

They’re going to be shooting at low angles for the whole movie huh?
