I've been a TF fan since the 80's but only of the cartoon not the comics. Is there any explainition into Unicrons origin in the comics? Why he was so bent on destroying cybertron? I've also heard rumors that Cybertron itself is a giant TF like unicron but that it's inactive. True or false?

Help is appreciated.

The best source for Unicron and Primus info out there.

But in a nutshell:

In the beginning of time there existed 2 gods, Unicron the God of Chaos and Primus the God of Order. They were brothers and did battle. Primus dragged Unicron through the astral plane and when they came out they were in their spiritual forms. Both their essences slammed into massive planetoids and bonded to them.

Unicron, over the course of eons, turned him body into a massive transforming war machine to consume all life in the Universe. Primus turned his body into a mechanical planet and spawned the race of Cybertronians. Primus could not transform into a robot in the Marvel comics, Cybertrons was just a planet. He spawned the Cybertronians for the sole purpose of defeating Unicron.

That's the watered-down origin, basically.
