Comics Untold Tales of Spider-Man

We're lucky if we get Flash Thompson and Betty Brant in the pages of Friendly Neighborhood. I highly doubt that we'll ever see Jimmy 6 again. That is unless, in the future, a writer comes along who liked Jimmy 6 and uses him for something.

But until then we won't be seeing too much of that guy.

Yeah, it's like Peter doesn't have a supporting cast anymore. Besides the dying Aunt May and MJ, there are not any other people having a major difference in Pete's life. I can't recall a story in the past 10 years where Flash, Betty, Jonah, or Robbie to name a few, had an important role.

Hopefully with JMS leaving ASM this will change things. I didn't like the whole unmasking thing in Civil War, but the notion of Jonah pursuing legal action against Peter has potential...

One of the biggest problems is Peter has no friends who don't wear tights. Part of the reason I liked Ben Reilly was he filled a void left by the passing of Harry Osborn. Now we need someone to fill Reilly's void. But it's sorta hard to create a best friend for Pete out of thin air. And no, Flash Thompson's a great guy, but he doesn't fit what I'm talking about.

Have to disagree about Flash Thompson not filling the "void." His character has changed so much throughout ASM, as he is Peter's bully, to being Peter's friend and best man at his wedding. I also really liked the fact that sometimes Spider-Man took inspiration from Flash, just go read the Hobgoblin Lives mini from 1996-1997. Another thing about the earlier versions of Flash which worked was his issues with Parker, but his fascination of becomming more like his hero, Spider-Man. His bouts with alcoholism also added to the character. Even with the whole world knowing that Peter is Spider-Man now in modern continuity, Flash could possibly be the one man who still admires Spidey for being a hero.
