YEah I read it as well, I guess this means that the Xbot FUD spreaders trying to claim flagging issues will shut up now. Though, like the core PS3, this alledgedly won't be a long term solution without the HDMI port. But that's years away anyway.

110 titles? I'm pretty sure Sony will have more, there will be over 500 titles at TGS this year.

Its a japanese show... The majority of those titles are 'Wireless' games like Hentai games for phones and stuff.

*edit*
My english skills rawk  :(

Oh, thanks a lot.
It wasn't that though, I meant that if someone would explain to Topdog would Microsoft would not just "stretch the image" in more technically correct lingo.
Hmm, OK. They speak of filtering the image to make a 720P image a 1080P image. I guess it's easier than delaying the 1080i images to make full frames.

But an upconverted 720P to 1080P won't look like shyte either. Unfortunatly the only examples I have are a side by side of Toshibas A1 HD-DVD player vs. it's upconverting DVD player. Which according to the testers, Pop-sci magazine, looked near identical.

You really can't notice the difference between 1080p and 1080i, unless you have a high-end and amazingly huge HDTV.

SONY respond...

"It's unfortunate that Microsoft's external HD-DVD drive will not enhance the experience at all for the gamer. Sony realizes that to truly take gaming into the next generation requires a larger data format for both games and movies. PS3 uses the Blu-ray format for gaming, giving developers 50 GB of high-definition storage on a single disc, while Microsoft's 9 GB DVD gaming format is an obstacle for storing HD content. Furthermore, Microsoft's announced HD games patch is really just a compatibility feature -- upscaling lower-resolution content does not make it Full HD (1080p), something that PS3 can do out of the box."

Ok then...

1 - DVD9 is NOT an obstacle to HD content... Especially games. SONY are the only group claiming that DVD9 is far too small and ancient to store HD games.

2- Sont claiming once again that only true HD is 1080p and only if the image is first processed as that is it 'true 1090p' Once again SONY are the only group that believes this.

3- The difference between 720p and 1080p is (most of the time) impossible to tell, even on the highest quality 1080p Native TV sets (something that less than 3% of HD TV owners have).

5- Most of sonys games will be designed for 720p and upscaled by the PS3 to 1080p (if thats the resolution setting on the console) So their argument that Xbox is not doing true 1080p is even more stupid.

sony actually have 1080p games annouced. microsoft don't. while 720p games will be treated the same on both systems. upscaling is stretching the image. that's what upscaling means. now there are some fancy ways to stretch an image but it's still not giving you anymore pertanent visual information. now i do not discount 1080p games on the 360. but they are going to be as rare as 720p games were on the x-box. they'll be far more commen on the PS3 because it was designed with that in mind all along. Virtua tennis 3 as it stands right now, is running in 1080p on the PS3 while at 720p on the 360. there'll be lots of live arcade games availiable in 1080p i should think.

AND YET, THEY WILL LOOK IDENTICAL, TO THE AVERAGE EYE, ON THE AVERAGE HDTV......WHICH IS THE WHOLE POINT.

reports say different and you haven't seen it yourself to judge. unless you mean the average HDTV is 720p but then ofcourse you wouldn't be able to see the difference. it's like if i said they all look the same on an average tv. that doesn't mean that 720p isn't an improvement over pal or ntsc.

WHAT "REPORTS"?

just people in the know who have claimed things before they became public knowledge before. it might have been verified in online articles by journalists who also saw both versions side by side. but i cannot remember the specifics.
