Could we also just have a moment of silence for...

...Xavier's favorite tree. :funny:

Agreed. I thought that was one of the best parts of the film.

Im not quite sure how many times I have listened to Beethoven Havok but it is a lot and that is one of my favourite parts of the film for sure!

I saw it last night at my local Flix Brewhouse. By the way, if you have a Flix near you, I highly recommend you attend. They show funny Youtube clips related to the movie you are seeing. For Xmen, they should us the How it should have ended, Mr. Sunday Movies, Honest Trailer, etc... it was pretty fun. Also, they are a brew house (duh) and had limited edition X-Men glasses. I picked up a Magneto one, pretty B.A

Anyways, I throughly enjoyed the movie. I am not a huge X-Men fan but I absolutely thought this was on part with the previous 2 movies. I would say my only gripe is Apocalypse.

I always imaged Apocalypse as a huge, menacing, almost monster, type of character with amazing abilities. While I liked that they showed his unique abilities we haven't seen before, I didn't like his physical form. I wish they made him larger and not blend-in. If someone showed me a picture of him, I would say he is just a mutant, nothing special. Also, was not a fan of the voice changing as he would talk.

Other than that, I thought it was excellent. Some of the stuff they showed like [BLACKOUT]Wolverine cutting up people and showing blood, when Angel got his metal wings, etc.. [/BLACKOUT]much more graphic than in the past and I thought it added something extremely special to the movie.

The new characters were fantastic. Scott, Jean, Storm, and Nightcrawler were great. Stand out for me was Nightcrawler.
I loved the dig when they were coming out of Star Wars about the 3rd always being the worst.
I left this movie wanting more. That is more than I can say for DOFP and First Class. I thought First Class was a one-off and left me satisfied as a stand-alone. Days of Future Past left like a singular movie to "clean up" the mess for Origins and X3. Again, I left saying I would be okay if there was nothing beyond this.

Solid 8/10 for me

Top 5:

1. First Class
2. X2
3. Apocalypse
4. DOFP
5. X-Men

Just went to my third session. Gosh just love it more everytime I watch it the stuff that bothered me kind of goes away and it just all flows better. Went with two friends. One who loved it and her boyfriend. Who isnt a fan of comic book movies. Doesn't understand why I like them lol. I say to him do you like sci-fi which he says yes. And I say well why do you like sci-fi? Lol. He didn't like the things that pretty much most people didn't like. The first thing he said to me was they need a better writer lol. I'm like don't worry that's what all the fans want.

Hear, hear.

I hope they demote Kinberg or at least consult/collaborate with a writer who knows X-Men, or has the foresight to know what will work in a movie or that having characters standing around doing nothing is incredibly unneccesary. i.e. Storm had potential to be a great Horsemen but what happened? Psylocke did absolutely nothing as a Horsemen for Apocalypse's cause.. neither did Angel. Ugh. :cmad:

Hahaha I still remember your post from last week "Storm showed Apocalypse her poster of Mystique, and he was like whatever and didn't say anything.." lmao xD

Was reading the discussions about the film, and for some reason i LOL at his comment as well. It seems we both found his comment/observation about that particular scene extremely funny. And each time i recreate that scene in my head i keep laughin :D

I like to think that Apocalypse given his almost godly nature is beyond an inmature Storm being a fan of overrrated Mystique and prefers to keep his thoughts to himself.

I laughed at that too, and i mean a real audible LOL.. the first time psylockolossus wrote it, he said 'Storm showed Apocalypse her Mystique poster and he was like 'cool story bro'' and I laughed so much i knocked my drink over... it did look exactly like he was thinking that.. :funny:

Xavier's Tree, i was laughing hard at that. :funny:

But it was really well thought. The tree represent both nature and memory. Wich are key to understanding the movie. It also givre a clue of what Charles do at the end of the movie, wich is letting go of memory and it's control over them

Agreed. I thought that was one of the best parts of the film.

Yes, it was the one moment where the power and menace of Apocalypse really was felt. Mixing Beethoven with Oscar Isaac unleashed also never hurts.

Even though i liked the film a lot it bothered me to great extent the whole
Stryker and Wolverine shoehorn plot distraction.
This was supposed to be the movie about one of X-men's most powerful if not the most powerful and popular villains in the X-men pantheon and they had to
insert Stryker and Wolverine mini plot
as if not was enough in the prior films. They should have replaced that with more exploration and development of Apocalypse character as he's one my favorites villains in the Marvel universe. He even should of deserve a two part saga.

Other than that enjoyed the film quite a lot and was very satisfied with this Apocalypse rendition from start to finish.

Does someone know if the end credits scene refers to the awesome
Mr Sinister?

Agreed. And I loved when

...Xavier let Havok loose on Cerebro. That almost looked like something out of the animated series, in a good way.

Damn, now I can't wait to see it again tomorrow.

Saw it for a 3rd time and really paid attention to the small details and dialogue. Although Apocalypse has 1 or 2 bad lines the rest of them are fascinating. Just wish they delved into his past more, when he meets Prof X for the first time, Xavier just treats him likr any other normal mutant which just didn't sit well with me.

I legitimately don't understand the hate this movie is getting. I also thought Apocalypse was spot on. He was a bit small, and could have used a bit more backstory, but Oscar Isaac managed to put in a great performance under all that prosthetics

My condolences to Angel, Storm and Psylocke fans. As a Cyclops guy I know your pain, however, it can also be turned around. Scott in this movie was perfect.

With the expection of a few editing flubs, some bad CGI and a weak horsemen battle (I thought the original four were much more intimidating and cool), I thought this was a very fitting end to the first class trilogy. It sort of tied everything (all six movies) together and just had fun with it.

Wolverine was shoehorned, but like I said, I think it was just sort of making everything one big circle.

Loved the movie, already want to see it again

the film made up for shortcomings of cyclops in X_men and x2.so Bryan
Singer and the X2 writers weren't BSing when they said they wanted to make
it up to Cyclops.Cyclops and jean to me were the equilvent of wolverine and
rogue In first X-men film.

with wolverine i feel this was done to setup things for wolverine solo film and
so singer could direct jackman as wolverine one last time and also go full
berzerker fury.

I think the stryker part and wolverine part was actually pretty excelllent. trust me, i sighed as soon as i saw striking and slumped in my seat when they went to the weapon x. But it was well redeemed for 3 reasons

1) seeing the new young core work together
2) seeing the growth of young core to turn from unsure students to willing and capable combatants
3)Berserker wolverine, finally, like friggin finally

If i would take anything out it would be the magneto family stuff to build up Apocalpyse more and allow for him to relate with the world leaders. See their reaction to him, establish dominion a bit, so the world could be legit terrorized by him.

The Poland stuff was the only reason why Erik's arc worked. It's what the other Horsemen needed to be honest.

naw, people are much more simple then you're making them out to be. I would have him establish his empire and terror a bit first, then recruit his horsemen, then the X-men response. I enjoyed the film regardless. Apocalypse delivered in my opinion. He just didn't get enough screen time.
And there is no way all 4 horseman coulda got that much development along with the new core.

You and Da Crowe are definitely making me want to see it again!

They had no purpose! It reminded me a lot of when Magneto "recruited" Multiple Man in X3.

"I'm in."

Then they should have used the original Horsemen line up. I would rather see them be background characters than veteran X-Men like Storm, Psylocke and Angel be wasted. :csad:

If we took Apocalypse out of the equation, Magneto could have still unleashed his fury. That is the problem, they wasted Apocalypse. :csad:

LOL at that pic
But I strongly disagree

he gave them power and he needed them to protect him while he took over his new body, they failed tho

I can understand the way you see it and even thought to myself the same mini plot server purpose. But it is strange that the Magneto family tragedy scene even though too centered again on Magneto got to me that i liked it so i guess i'd keep it. I don't know it seemed kinda out of place that suddenly this young Stryker guy comes out of the blue until the mini plot ends. I felt it robbed attention to the formidable Apocalypse. After all it was his first and probably last movie :csad: But yes i can see your points. On another subject do you know if the post credits scene Essex Corp refers to Mr Sinister upcoming?
