Variety: Jackman to star in "Wolverine 2"

The "multiple mind wipe" idea is popcorn storytelling, unless the film's supposed to be a comedy. If they're going to make a sequel, they need to avoid rendering the plot pointless like that. This is their opportunity to get some things right. Repeating plot devices that made the first movie predictable is not the way to go.

Same here, I'll be looking forward to this production (if it's going to happen at all).

I really am looking forward to it too. So well have Wolvie 2, Deadpool, and XMen First Class? Thatll be great

Lets not forget Fox has now turned these movies into popcorn movies, the first 2 werent, they had depth, development and story to them, but the last 2 have been pure popcorn, and I dont see Fox wanting anything else from Wolverine 2. I also dont see a problem with at least one more mindwipe in these movies, if anything, it'll show how ****ed up Wolverine is as a person.

I just hope it reboots before I'm, say, 85 or something. I want to be able to see the screen when I go to the midnight showing of Marvel's reboot.

<dreamy smile>

I feel you. I'd really like to see the X-men given the big sfx extravaganza, fantasy-scifi, comicbook movie treatment before I die. X-men is so much more than the overly conservative approach we got.

what we got was substance over style in first 2 cant complain but i can understand your points

Hopefully she'll be a main character and his love interest, because that would make the scene in X2 where Wolvie kills her and she seems to recognize him for a split second so much more tragic.

Or maybe they can hint that Logan's her father in the next film. If they have enough back story of Japan, they can bring back Kelly Hu to play Yuriko's own mother.

Cool! Can't wait to finally see the japanese story on film.

Me too. Maybe they can even introduce the ancestor of Professor Xavier (to bring back Patrick Stewart) and Nathaniel Essex/Mr. Sinister. I'm thinking Damien Lewis could play a good Nathaniel Essex. And it would be ironic if Xavier's ancestor was the one who got Logan into the smoking habit.

Me too!!!!!!! I would LOVE to see what J.J. Abrams', Chris Nolan's, or Peter Jackson's vision would be! They could really do these charcters and their stories justice! Any one of them! As far as I'm concerned, the X-Men are one of(if not THEE{<sp, I know} for me) the best fictional casts ever created!

How about a Wolverine sequel that takes place AFTER X3?

I was looking at the youtube vid of the game of the scene in the future where Wolverine escapes from the shackles is badass. It looks like a few hundred years in the future. It would be an interesting direction to take the franchise. It would alleviate further continuity problems that this first one created for the other 3 X Men movies..and maybe somehow, they could incorporate the time traveling mutant Cable into it, somewhere....

I say no to another mindwipe. It's been done once, the audience and the critics will hate it. It will seem tired, lame and unoriginal. Everyone will think the writing really has gone down the crapper if they just do another mindwipe in the next movie. Sorry but this talk has to stop folks, it's a terrible idea!

That means he can't meet people he later doesn't remember - Sabretooth and Deathstrike. So just don't use those characters. Simple.

There are tons of other characters. Silver Samurai. Omega Red. The Hand. And so on.

Please, please, please. No more memory loss stuff.

Is this movie going to be produced by Marvel Studios like Deadpool & Magneto supposedly are. It'd be the Wolverine movie we deserve.

sorry but Nolan's x men would be just like singer's with a very realistic approach

Yes, but I believe Nolan's vision would be far more epic in scope than Singer's. He would also have a lot more free reign than Bryan did back in the day, now that the X-Men are a proven success. You're right though, it's almost assured that Abrams and Jackson would take a much more science-fantasy type of approach, whereas I'm sure Nolan would try to keep it grounded in actual science-fiction. It would kind of be a philosophical versus metaphorical take, with each commenting on human nature and the society we live in, just from different perspectives. All of these guys would inject complex cerebral elements, like Singer, only they would take it to a whole new level.

I think it would be cool to see Wolverine go up against Omega Red Silver Samurai and the Hand

Give Omega Red the tendrils like they used as the whip weapon in the Underworld series.

^Omega Red would get a big yes from me, been dying to see him in the movies for quite some time. While I liked Magneto it was nice to get some other bad guys in XMO, hopefully they keep that trend going for Wolverine 2.

A Dark Phoenix Saga directed by Peter Jackson...........damn, just think how stunning it would be....just the visuals alone.....wow, just wow...

Agreed, Peter Jackson would make a great X-Men film, IMO.

I can't believe Jackman said in an interview that he himself thought that Wolverine had gotten soft by X3, and that he wanted to take the character back to how he was in X1. :whatever:

i actually remember an interview where he said that he got a little soft in x3 and that he is more rough in this one. more then in all movies.

a 100% lie from him. i understand that he makes a movie like that because of the paycheck. but that he becomes like FOX and lies to promote hes movie?

pathetic :o

I actually saw the interview i'm referring to yesterday on youtube. Ater hearing him say that, i wonder if that's what he was actually trying to do (make Wolverine more tough) but Fox, and post-editing cut and edited to where he doesn't come off so aggressive..? It's a long shot call i know, but i've heard alot of actors say that when they shoot a movie and then see the final product, the final cut can be vastly different from how they thought it would be. Jackman claims that that's the reason why he wanted to be a producer on XOW, so he could 'make sure' Wolverine get's back to the badass he was in X1 and X2...if this is the end results of Jackman producing..i say he should stick to acting.

Let's not forget that he also lied along with Fox about the leaked print saying it's not the same movie, so.....

Not quite actually, he never said the movie was different, he just used the "Fararri without a paint job" reference. And that is true in that the SFX weren't completed, he never ever said that the final movie was longer or anything like that.
