Venom now has a stand alone film, according to the studio.

All ive seen from Kang is bash any hope this chance of this movie being any good. Seriously look at your signature. Its like all you do is hate on anything venom. If you dont like it why bother trolling this thread?

I've got a cool idea...

There's this guy Venom...and omg, he's so cool...and dark...and he has pointy teeth...and he's so deep because like, cool sleek black outfits= character depth.

This movie is going to go down like a cheerleader at the prom.

Kid, you're really annoying. How the hell do you know of this?... Clarify it for me further, will ya?...

I'm not a kid first of all, I'm 24 years old...which is probably a good 9-10 years older than you are, mr. thejon93.

And I'll be glad to clarify this:

Venom has no basis for a movie. There are no great classic storylines featuring Venom as a protagonist. His solo comic wasn't that great. Maximum Carnage is also an overrated cluster****, if that's the arc you want to go with. The character also has no sequel potential.

People are coming up with these outlandish ideas for how to polish up Venom's character to make him deeper, but it's really kind of unnecessary. I bet half of the people in this thread think Marvel is wasting it's time making an Ant-Man film, or making a Luke Cage film, but those are characters with multiple times the number of great arcs and character development that Venom has had. Venom stands a good chance of being the worst marvel film to date.

Also another thing, HE'S DEAD. In Movie continuity he's dead. There's no reason to waste money resurrecting a character that got 10 minutes of screen time. They bungled him. Move on. It's not the end of the world.

I just can't imagine the desperation some of you most feel for this character; it's kind of sad. It's like you need a Venom movie. It probably will make a ton of money; just like Venom, it will be a hollow, overrated cash cow.

Spoken like a Venom fan; cause the only thread on here is the Venom movie thread right? There aren't threads for much better, more deserving characters like Captain America and Thor; nope, just this Venom thread.

Not really, if you left he thread and checked out other threads, I'm active in those. I was quite active in the captain america casting thread until it turned into a "My cap is better than yours" war.

I pretty much agree with you, dude. Venom as a character is really overrated, and he really only works as a Spider-Man villain.

I love Venom, but he was ruined in Spider-Man 3. He in no way deserves a spin-off movie, especially if it has nothing to do with the Spider-Man franchise.

Now, a lot of people might disagree with me, but I think that if you wanna see Venom again you need to bring him back for Spider-Man 5 or 6, after enough time has passed and people forgot about him. I think he could (kind of) easily be brought back, even with Topher Grace, and be given a great villain arc in the films, culminating in Venom killing Gwen Stacy, by then Peter's girlfriend. There are a lot of great things about Venom and, more importantly, Eddie Brock that weren't addressed in Spidey 3 that would be really cool to see in like part 5.

But bottom line, don't do a spin-off. If you wanna see him again, bring him back for Spider-Man 5. (And make him a total evil bad-ass, too.)

I'm not a Venom hater, I like the character as a representation of what could of happened to Spidey. But at the same time I don't think the movie could work on its own. I would much rather see him be in the next Spidey movie with a whole new cast and carry on from there. Sony definitely doesn't have anything better to do than to jump on the comic book marathon and make money, money, money.

Who knows though? We haven't seen or heard anything besides "moving forward with". What if it ties into the next Spidey?

I'm just hoping but my head tells me its gonna be as bad as Elektra.

Well I'm hoping the two part script for Spider-Man 4-5 involves Lizard and Kraven...but as for Venom, I wouldn't mind him coming back as a villain in 10 years. He's a fun villain, but as anything more than a doppleganger for Spidey, he fails imo.

we should listen to you because you're the once and future king:woot:
but seriously he has a lot of chane I love Venom Leathal Protecter and the Ultimate Venom and hope that it will mix it and will be made into a movie especially after Spider-man 3

I obviosly wasnt talking about other threads. just this one. You repeatedly come back bashing Venom, His Movie and any of his fans or anyone who thinks his stand alone movie has any chance to be good. So again. You're only purpose to come back here is just trolling.

First off, yes... I'm off by 9 years... kid.

Second off, true. But the fact of the matter is(and the way I see it), is that this character has great potential to be more than a mediocre comic-book character, if they're willing to re-create him in the movie. And, I've been getting a lot of heck for that from 'Venom' fans like "so u waint 2 charge v3n0ms caractor 4 moive! i v3n0m uber coolz?", pretty much stupid crap like that. Anyhow, all I'm saying is that I want to see this movie because they have a chance to show people that the world won't end if they make the character better than he is. If "v3n0m" fans want to see a 'Venom' movie, they're going to have to accept some sacrifices: "Sorry, Eddie Brock isn't no muscle-flexing ******", "Sorry, Eddie Brock ain't no jerk-weed, etc.

Doesn't matter; some of us just post only when we have something to say.

Noob Saibot.

Back on topic, maybe we can get a petition going to talk Columbia out of this horrible mistake. I honestly see "Venom" as Marvel's "Catwoman".

I highly doubt that happening, Chris Wallace. The thing that happened with the Catwoman film was rare and I don't think it will happen to more spin-offs to come. it was an abomination.

I think catwoman was actually more cause she was a female. Look at elektra that bombed just as bad. I dont think a Venom movie would do that bad. But by no means would it come anywhere close to the spiderman movies as far as box office.

It might not do bad at the box office but it could still be a bad movie. If they want it to sell then the character is going to have to be alot scarier. I thought he would be dripping with symbiote in Spidey 3, be more ferocious and have the elongated jaw with the gross tongue hanging out. That's what I want to see.

I don't know what approach they could go with besides a couple ideas I have heard or thought of. But even the ideas aren't close to good enough to make a movie.

And this wouldn't be?
And it's not that rare. Supergirl, Son Of The Mask, the Crow sequels & Elektra also tanked. The genre doesn't do well with spin-offs.
