Venom now has a stand alone film, according to the studio.

The fan-base deserves it, that's why. I don't care what you or anyone else says about that logic, but the truth is that they were screwed over with Venom in 'Spider-Man 3'.

So?

We were screwed over with Dr. Doom in Fantastic Four 1 and 2, but there's no Dr. Doom film coming out. (And don't even act like Venom is a better/ more important villain than Doom, because he's not.)

Truth is, Venom doesn't need a film, and it annoys the **** out of me that the incessant whining of his fan base has resulted in Sony buckling under pressure and spending upwards of 100 million dollars on a Venom solo movie, a movie that is damned to suck.

Well if Sony is going by the fan base they are going to have a flop on their hands... they have more stories to tell... they are called SM4-6... you deviate from that and you basically have crap that isn't anywhere near movie material.
Then they can tell their goddamn 'Spider-Man 4-6' stories. I don't know how the hell "telling other stories" is your excuse, when the fact is that they can tell as many stories as they want to in a year alone. I've said this before, this doesn't have to be a bad movie all because they based it off of the character we know from the comics, they can refresh the character. I said before that comics and movies are two different things, when really, they don't have to be so different neither. Alike a comic-book, a comic-book movie should be able to modify the universe to make it better than it is. That's the way they should look at this 'Venom' movie, ground Venom in his own universe, make him his own, give him his own due so people can respect him as a solo character. I'd like to see them start a new 'Venom' comic-book series and use this film as an opener to the series.

This is a primae example of an old saying: Don't shine up a turd, you'll just get **** on your hands. That's exactly what Sony will be doing if they make any effort with a Venom series.

Oh, I would love to do a movie about Dr. Doom. I would make it about his rie to power in Latveria.

Why does Venom deserve a movie more than any number of marvel villains?

1) he had his own comic
2) hes a very strong character enuff to hold his own movie
3) hes the best Spidey villan
4) fans want it cuz he got f***ed in the otherwise great S3

1) fair enough. He did have his own comic for a little while.
2) No he's not; he's nothing without Spider-Man. The only two villains I could see pulling off solo films are Dr. Doom and Magneto; Venom's film will make Man-Thing look like Citizen Kane.
3) A purely subjective opinion. I know TONS of people who would pick Green Goblin over him. He's the most liked Spider-Man villain by a lot of younger people, but some people require more than "I'm going to eat your brains!" in their villains. Venom is about as deep as a puddle.
4) Spider-Man 3 sucked all around; Venom was the least of his problems. The script was a disaster all around.

1) thank you
2) i think the idea of brock or whoever its going to be, bonding w/the symbiote and a story on split personalities or maybe making the symbiote an analogy for drug abuse could work so well, especially if they put carnage in the flick as an anaolgy for a drug pusher could work well...
3) yer right it is subjective, its opinion -- but hes my fave
4) i dug S3 besides venom's three seconds of screen time

I think they screwed the pooch on Venom in SM3, and it didn't exactly set up an ideal follow-up story for a solo Venom movie. Frankly, I'd rather see Venom squaring off against Spidey than going solo, and Venom doesn't have the "rogue gallery" (besides Spidey) nor the history to warrant a movie for himself.

I think the idea of Eddie Brock searching for, finding, and rebonding with the symbiote and struggling with being himself or letting the symbiote control him could work in a film.

My biggest question is, how did Brock survive the explosion? We saw his skeleton.

Exactly, apart from myself and others say that a billion times before, these 'Spider-Man 3'/Venom fans just don't seem to care. They just can't stop to think that 'Spider-Man 3's Eddie Brock id dead, hone, finished. Like Doc Ock, dead. No reason for them to return, give 'Venom' a "stand-alone" movie, not a "spin-off".

Im suprised Avi let that part happen and didnt leave it open for venom to come back. Its a shame Venom only got 5 minutes.

Oi this movie is going to be bad -_- but oh well i know im still going to watch it lol

This is going to be awful. If he's the protagonist, and there is no Spider-Man, then who does he fight. Why? The ruined Venom once, why f him up again. They just see money over at Sony, they could give a crap about their product or the fans.

It will probably be a were-wolf/split personality style. Where Eddie Brock/whoever struggles with being himself or letting the symbiote control him.

Maybe they will make it worse by having Venom be the good guy and Carnage the villain.

Any approach, in my eyes, would be a bad idea. I cannot overemphasize how many things are wrong with the idea of a Venom movie. He's a villain. He's dead. Comic-based spinoff movies invariably fail. He's dead. They're spinning him off from a movie that wasn't exactly a fan favorite to begin with. He's a villain. He's dead. His onscreen portrayal doesn't allow room for him to be seen as a protagonist. He's dead!

But Brock liked being bad; it made him happy.

Yeah, I know, I am just being hypothetical about this. I can't understand how they could make this. I had heard that maybe Eddie Brock wouldn't be the one with the symbiote. He and someone else would be fighting over who has it.

I completely agree, this is just Sony trying to make money off of all the comic book movie craze. Make a new Spider-Man with a new approach and move on. Don't use a character you already butchered and try to do him justice on his own.

Now we just need to post this after every Venom fanboy says "Who cares that he's dead! He's Venomz1"

He didn't survive. They made an unpopular decision and killed eddie brock. one bit from the suit exists and dr curt connors is analyzing the material.
Venom could return but Eddie Brock is dead unless they do a movie that isn't in continuity with the spiderman movies.

the movie venom will be max gargan (or whatev his name is), cletus cassidy (i could see that happening) or some1 new

I've got a cool idea...

There's this guy Venom...and omg, he's so cool...and dark...and he has pointy teeth...and he's so deep because like, cool sleek black outfits= character depth.

This movie is going to go down like a cheerleader at the prom.
