Sequels Venom Spin-Off ISN'T Dead????

Sony wants Josh Trank, too? Wow. :wow:

Crazy thought this was never gonna happen. Sounds good to me. Im sure most probably want Brock back but Flash Thompson has been a solid Venom lately. Wouldnt mind if they decide to go that route.

This is really interesting, though. I'm curious to see how Sony is approaching this movie. Are they setting it up so that TASM or its sequel will hint towards a Venom spinoff? Like an after the credits scene? An Oscorp experiment mentioned offhand? Something else Peter's dad was working on? Would Spider-Man appear in the movie? Or would it be completely unrelated to TASM?

So many questions!!

Intriguing stuff to say the least.

This could be epic. The prospect of it tying into TASM is what's really exciting.

So now Brock isn't even gonna be in the spidey movies.

They've been saying that a Venom movie is in the works for nearly 20 years. I'll believe it when I see it.

I've wanted this for awhile, but I don't know how it'll work. Unless they mention something about it in TASM, it won't work. The films it was originally going to be spun off from have been rebooted, giving it a whole new origins. They could try to go the Ultimate approach, but that will no doubt upset a few fans. They'll have to play this one pretty carefully.

Theres been a quite a few Venoms in the past decade so they have a few options. I would prefer they introduce him in ASM but if they dont I think they could make something work. Ultimate Venom could work if they have Peter Parker in the spinnoff, if I remember correctly hes not much of an antihero in that one though. So you cant just have a full on villain Venom running around with no one to fight. I see Flash or Brock working the best as antiheros. As long as they dont do Mac Gargan Ill be cool with the others.

I'd be happy to have a Venom spinoff Plus it can give Amazing Spiderman sequels an option of not using Venom and use villains we haven't seen like Electro Rhino Scorpion.

Agreed. Set-up the spinoff in the ASM films, but have the repercussions actually happen in its own film, so ASM isn't just a retread of the same villains from Raimi's films.

Highly doubt they'd use any other Venom except Eddies' version. The public knows him best. Hell no to Gargan. Angelo is..a possibility. Not a good one, but still. And Flash-Venom would only exist if they took that chance.

I don't see how Angelo is more a possibility than Gargan. Angelo was Venom for an issue and a quarter; Gargan was Venom for 5 years or more, played a big role in Osborn's era, and outside of Venom, is already a very well known character. Neither would be used since any director or writer with sense would relate Gargan with the Scorpion over any other identity...but we are talking about a movie franchise that almost put the Black Cat's Felicia Hardy as a Vulture-character, so I wouldn't put anything past anything.

Faith restored! It will be years before this film gets off the ground, but at least we know that the project is still alive. All they need to do is find someone who fits the size and has some kind of acting ability… like Jensen Ackles.

I will soooooo pass on Jensen Ackles, but thanks anyway...

I imagine if it's loosely tied to TAS, they will follow the Ultimate route, because they wont need Peter to have the Sym first...allowing the writers to move quickly to production.

If it is strongly tied to Peter, they will follow the 616 route, and production may not take place for awhile, til they set certain perimeters within the franchise.

Either way, will provide smoothe transition and continuity, depending upon, how soon they(Sony) obtain capital and time frame they hope to start production.

Someone told me to watch Supernatural to see that Jensen Ackles is Captain America. When I watched it, he looked and sounded like Eddie Brock.

As far as I'm concerned,Eddie is and has always been the real Venom. I'm a HUGE fanatic of the Eddie Brock Venom. So,if he's not used then my excitement for this project goes down in flames. I also thought it would be best for Venom to be in a Spidey film, live and then have the spinoff. But this could work too. Of course, you'd have to explain the whole backstory(probably in flashbacks) and Spidey would most likely do a cameo.
The one thing I'm still not happy about:the anti-hero junk. Make Venom a villain, but make his foe in the film a greater evil. Whatever happens I hope they make Venom a truly intimidating, scary and monsterous creature.

Grace is not expected to reprise the role.

The above quote means the movie has a shot. For this movie to work, it needs to have the dark tone of Blade or Ghost Rider. It also needs an intimidating actor for Eddie Brock.

As for the features of Venom, I hope they don't do it all CGI. I'd like to think that they could take something like prosthetics and make his movements not suck.
