Do that, but CGI-enhance a few things. Namely just the mouth, the webbing, and the symbiote when it's coming off or just slithering about.
They've been saying that a Venom movie is in the works for nearly 20 years. I'll believe it when I see it.
Its like having a Joker movie with no Batman,it would suck.
I agree, and that is the approach, any incarnation of the character needs to get away from, be it print, animation, or film. I think all incarnations are focusing on the wrong aspect of the character; and, this is the reason why I feel the character is lost to writers, hollow to readers/viewers, and the character itself has no real foundation & motivation. Venom, itself should not be the focus; but the result. The focus should be on the dynamic between Sym and it's host. How one's life flirting on the edge; and, the Sym's effects takes it's host over that edge...in becoming a very potent & dangerous adversary.Even as a villain, Venom wasn't really a criminal so much as a man drunk with power who eventually turned to cleaning up the streets in his own way. He's a lot more like Punisher than like Joker.
I agree, because they(the writers & producers) will continue to follow the same hollow blueprint that is the character today. If they don not have the vision to see, to think outside the box, and focus on character development, they will rush out more of the same "eye-candy" that some will like, most will detest. I for one, don't want to see that happen. I simply believe, they don't no how to handle this character or what to do with it.Seems like this will be another way to screw up this character again.

They could rewrite Venom's origin so that Spider-Man doesn't even wear the symbiote, which bond itself with a spider when it lands on Earth before discovering Eddie. This would explain where Venom gets his abilities and the symbol on his back/chest.
