its been stated plenty of times..most recently when eddie brock hands his symbiote over to that mob boss's kid...that the first time you bond with the alien, it hurts like hell....the alien just doesnt cover the body...it genetically graphs itself to a persons adrenal and nervous system with a painful amount of force....honeslty i think it hurts everytime...but eddie has simply gotten used to it since they have been spereated so many times....as far as seperating from the alien i believe the pain level is up to how willing the symbiote is to leave the body
didn't hurt spidey

:o

i think its purely for the trailer, and yes, i also think it will be long and painful

I hope it will look very effective and amazing like what I saw in leaked trailer.

because that was before they retconned the hell out of the symbiote and made up the crap about it's obsession with adrenaline and whatnot

I think it'll be a pretty quick transformation, just long enough to show the painful and the emotional aspect of it for Brock. Don't forget, there's already going to have been a somewhat similar scene earlier in the movie when the symbiote first takes over Peter in the spidey suit (from the trailer). They're going to have to make it somewhat different than that.

It's always been painful. A werewolf takeover if you will. And in the cartoon it was the same Hank Azeria (Brock) screamed like a ***** when it took over in that movie.

I agree DACrowe.

Look its not a painful process. Basically its like this... imagine some black goop falls on your hand then said goop suddenly jumps and covers your whole body. I think its more fear than anything not pain. I would be terrified.

So we should just ignore the comics then...................

Or how much fight the symbiote does on pete in the trailer

When pete is getting the suit, his muscles tense up.

Of course you shouldn't ignore the comics. I'm just saying its more fear if any pain at all. Of course if something like that is consuming your body your going to tense up and try to fight it. It might be uncomfortable but, your more scared. Remember it isn't like venom is the hulk or anything and remember how spidey originally got the suit in SW it just came on him. So painful... i think not.

I honestly could care less i'm just glad raimi has the sense to include venom.

The shots in the trailer I believe were just snippets, compiled quickly for dramatic effect (but we know this already) To get to the point, I started writing what I envisioned in my head as Eddie's transformation. I already posted this in the regular Venom thread (sorry to double post it, but people seemed to ignore it so I figured I'd try here.) Without further adeiu, here's my treatment in novel-style form (with Italic being like inner monologue)

Eddie heard the gong of the bells....something else was going on in this church. He quickly got up from his pew, ran down the aisle and stepped out into the foyer where the stairs spiraled up along the walls to the belltower, and looked up to see someone struggling, crying out like they were trying to break free of something. Spider-Man....but what was going on? The costume Spider-Man now wore, a true change from his striking red and blue webbed design, sleek and black this suit was...there was a darkness about it, and not just the color. It had made Spider-Man more aggressive, more assertive, and even somewhat dangerous. And now it seemed to be harming Spider-Man, it was doing something to him....he looked on in amazement to see Spidey begin to tear away at the suit, and it seemed the suit was resisting, trying to reform, like it was alive. This truly shocked Eddie, yet he was also intrigued and he couldn't look away. Finally Spider-Man was breaking free of the suit that was confining him, tearing it off his back and arms, it was not wanting to let go. And now Eddie could see the man under the costume...all but his face. His back was turned, and it was pretty far up...yet Eddie studied him, determined to find out who the mysterious Spider-Man was once and for all. How I wish I would've brought my camera... the thought flashed through Eddie's mind in an instant. And now he could see the costume had finally been shed, and there stood a man barely clad in anything save for a pair of underwear. The bell had finally stopped, and the omnious echo of its ringing subsided, when the now disguise-less Spider-Man turned around and stumbled forward, finally giving Eddie a glimpse of his face.

Parker?.... Oh God. It couldn't be. Not the man who was ruining his life, destroying his career. Stealing his girlfriend. Something lit inside Eddie like a fire....astonishment, confusion, shock....rage. He was speechless, stunned...frozen in place. Unbeknownst to Eddie something had slithered through the cracks in the old floorboards of the belltower floor, and began its descent towards him. Eddie finally looked away. He wanted to run home, phone the editor of the Bugle, report this right away...but he couldn't. The revelation of Spider-Man actually being Peter Parker, the man he most hated in this world, the man he just prayed for his death, was too much. He was overwhelmed. Just then Eddie felt something strike his hand, snapping him out of this spacey haze his mind was in. He looked down, and saw this lump, almost a puddle of something in the palm of his hand. It felt nearly weightless...it was smooth, and black as night. Eddie wanted to be horrified, but he was instead puzzled as to what this was, where it came from. Parker? Was this from him? Did he sent it after Eddie to harm him? These questions raced in his mind...but something was happening. This thing began to grow...sliding up his arm almost like a liquid, wrapping around him with small veiny looking tendrils. Oh no. What is this? Get it off! But he couldn't stop it. More puddles of the black invader were now at his feet, apparently coming from the same place above as the piece that struck his hand. It swirled around his feet, up his legs and began to pull him downward. *like in the ComicCon trailer*

Eddie stumbled forward and fell to his knees, the pain of striking the old stone floor rang out in his legs, but quickly subsided somehow, as if soothed by this dark swirlng mass wrapping his body. It began to grow, covering his legs completely, his arms were already covered. Eddie began to feel like his skin was on fire, like this thing was eating through his clothes, trying to graft itself to him. He felt glued to the floor, so he struggled to stand, with it crawling up his torso, over his shoulders and up his neck. He got up finally, the thing resisting to keep him still, but Eddie's adrenaline allowed him the strength to stand. It responded, almost like it was fueling the thing. Eddie looked down in horror as his entire body was nearly covered now. Eddie let out a scream, painful it was, as the back of his head was now covered, creeping across his bare skin and his hair. It began to latch itself to the skin of his face, pulling at it...*insert shot identical to officially released by Sony picture Eddie transforming* he reached up trying to pull it away, to keep it off his face, for he feared it would smother him. The symbiote now crept over the crown of his head, over his forehead and around his eyes, his nose and mouth. Eddie paniced not feeling able to breath when suddenly it responded and let him open his mouth to gasp in a lungful of air. His mouth now felt funny, different...like it was bigger. His teeth also ached in a strange way. The thing had finally stopped moving, and Eddie nearly blacked out....exhausted, he fell foward down on all fours, his head bowed staring at the floor when he noticed his hands....ugly and twisted, fingers long and gnarled with claws that seem to extend another two and a half inches off his fingers. Realizing what it had done to him, Eddie let out a tormented shriek, disturbing the newly restorted tranquility since the bell had stopped. *insert shot from Comic Con trailer panning straight into his mouth*

*cut to shot from outside of church, Eddie's scream echoing into the distance*

Now that the haze in his mind had stopped, Eddie stood. He felt an amazing change in his body now, as the symbiote, he knew what to call it now, seemingly from the back of his mind. Almost like he had known all along somehow... It quivered over his body, as Eddie's shock and confusion now blossomed into excitement. Eddie wasn't sure why he felt this way, but he chose not to question it...he felt too alive right now to do so. His thoughts then returned to Spider-Man, although he would no longer need to refer to him as that title in his mind now....Parker. That bastard. All he had done. The symbiote seemed to respond to Eddie's thoughts of Spider-Man and began to reform itself in that last image, like it had a memory to do so. No. Not like him...I can't look the same as Parker, something better. The symbiote responded as such, the raised webbing that was so distinct to Spider-Man's appearance now stretched out, distorting itself, giving it an almost vein-like appearance. Good. I like that. Make it better. The 'eyes' of the symbiote which were smooth and concave when donned by Spider-Man, now began to spread out....giving them a twisted look, hellish and menacing with their slightly ragged edges. The symbiote pushed through on his chest as he looked down to see the large dark-chrome spider emblem Parker had crafted from the suit. Disgusted by the sight of this, the symbiote began to shiver and work itself a new image, stretching out and spreading across his chest, across his ribs and around to his back, and when it had finished Eddie was pleased with its look. No longer a timid little symbol of good, it now bore the image of a giant, venomous spider.

Venom. The thought of this name him happy. No longer was he just Eddie Brock, fledgling photo journalist for The Daily Bugle. No.....he was more than that, we were more than that. He was bonded with this thing, and together they would right the wrongs and destroy that which had caused his pain. A more fitting word there could not be. For now I, no.....WE shall be the most venomous poison to ever plague the life of that idiot Parker. We are coming for you, Spider-Man. At this Venom smiled, opening a nightmarish maw filled with razor sharp teeth and a large serpentlike tongue. The anticipation of the reckoning to come made him salivate, and the symbiote responded in kind by drooling profusely.

Things were about to get really fun aroud here....
