Vince Doesn't See Money in the Wrestling Thread

Ugh don't get me started on the "WHAT" chants. To say they've run their course would be an understatement. They really have to stop with this. That chant basically ruined a half-way decent promo by Henry and really just deflates the promo time. Even J.R. wants them to stop.

The WHAT? chant was never cool to me anyway. It's always ruined the impact of promos.

I fear they may never go away. The "YES" chants are actually respectable and can really get the crowd going. They've been over for the past year.

Now I hope that's becomes more engrained in WWE lexicon than the others. If it wasn't PG, I would have even preferred them saying a*****e.

I gotta say, after talking to some young family members today, It's insane how popular Bryan is now. All my little cousins listed him as one of their favorites.

Funny that you mentioned that because today I ordered a small shirt for my younger brother. It's the same shirt I got 6 years ago and it's a Bryan Danielson "Best In The World" T-shirt.

Theoretically, what could WWE do to stop the "what" chants?

Well if they were to ever do it during a Daniel Bryan promo, he can unleash the American Dragon and kick every person in that audience's ****ing head in. :hehe:

"WHAT?" is by far the worst thing Austin has contributed to WWE. If only you could turn back time, Steve.

It has been reported that TNA's relationship with OVW as a training center is "in shambles" because of various problems, including former head trainer Rip Rodgers' problems about money.

Meanwhile, many in the company are questioning TNA's direction and if they know what they're doing or want to do. Sources say Al Snow, who is a road agent, has been making promises to wrestlers he can't keep because he doesn't have the power he acts like he has.

TNA had a better system when they working with ROH.

WHAT?!

Anyway so far I've found this Raw hard and dull to watch.
The first promo was pretty good, it seems they don't know what to do with Punk until the Lesner fight so just sticking him MITB and Heymen stuff.

Great to see DBryan getting more of a push, won't he be shaving off the beard when he next wins a top title.

Felt odd how they all spoke about winning the WWE title and no one caring for the WHC at all, should just merge them again and be done with any legacy left over from WCW.

Still very much bored of Shield and all its members.

Ugh, the RAW crowd was shameful this week. Ziggler is working his butt off and they chant for Hee Haw Layfield at the announce desk. Mark Henry is cutting a classic heel promo and the crowd is stuck in 2001, chanting "What?!".

Mediocre show with Punk and Bryan's mic work being the highlight. Other than Ziggler's match, the in-ring performances were forgettable.
I actually think Mahal did pretty well for his little showing in his match with Ziggler too.

So I've heard that apparently Ricardo was suspended for using fat burners/diet pills.

Oh and the "What?!" chant is effective when used properly and in the right manner, but I agree that most just use it whenever and at the most inappropriate times and moments just to look cool.

I got the impression Madison's release was just a timing issue, as she's preggers, and that she'd re-up whenever she was ready to work a schedule again.

She wasn't released, just her contract wasn't renewed.

I completely agree with you. I fully expect her back once she's had her baby and is ready to wrestle. She is well liked in TNA and she is one of the more charismatic Knockouts.

The rest of the releases and guys who are not being re-signed is not surprising at all. I wish they would just released Rob Terry already!!

As much as I HATE the "what" chants, I do like it when Henry will change his cadence to basically encourage it more, then pull out "y'all just a bunch of puppets!"

Funny you mention that since the guy using all the high spots in the match is now in NXT and known as Adrian Neville lol.

I'm not going to say I want Devitt in WWE but Im sure if he wanted to he could become a presence on NXT like Adrian Neville has and potentially a good IC title pursuer.'Especially since Devitt's style can easily be adjusted to the WWE format from what I've seen of him. The only test he'd really have is whether or not he can talk well and portray the character type he's required to portray since his current NJPW persona comes off a little bit Alex Shelley-like from what I have seen ....Not that that's a bad thing in and of itself.

Anyway regarding WWE, Devitt told PWTorch last year that he was content with NJPW and planned to stay their for a while but he won't say "Never" to a WWE run because he might enjoy that challenge.

I saw him the other night doing a run-in on the Wyatt family, the thing is I bet he's toned it down in NXT.

There's another big test Devitt would have and that is his look. I'm sure he could adapt his ring work to fit into WWE but he's very small and when you are that small it's hard to even convince the higher-ups that you are worth a real push, there are a lot more Justin Gabriel's than there are Daniel Bryan's.

If he does take up the Challenge I hope he succeeds, it would certainly be interesting to see how he did.

God bless 'Murica!

- Regarding head writer Dave Kreizman being credited with the direction for this year’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view, the main stuff booked was not his doing.

The main direction this year is all Vince McMahon, with Triple H leading the proposed McMahon family heel turn angle. Kreizman isn’t mapping out ideas, just interfacing with other division that have to be kept up to speed. Ed Koskey and Dave Kapoor have been rounding up the ideas from the writers.

As far as top storylines, everything planned out a month back is going exactly as scheduled for WrestleMania XXX. Whatever changed being made before TV hits the air are not changing the big picture for New Orleans.

The planned main angle, which will get bigger as SummerSlam approaches and explode at some point after that for WrestleMania, is the current angle with the McMahon family. The main reason for this storyline is because the McMahons came up with it as the key angle for next year’s WrestleMania.

- Regarding The Undertaker returning, a match with Kane against The Shield for SummerSlam is not a definite right now. At last word, Taker vs. Brock Lesnar for WrestleMania XXX is planned if Lesnar vs. The Rock doesn’t materialize.

It’s also said that The Rock could end up in the main WrestleMania XXX storyline, possibly the McMahon family angle.

- Almost everyone within WWE says Daniel Bryan vs. John Cena is a lock for SummerSlam and that it won’t be pulled like it was at Money in the Bank. There are forces within the company pushing for Bryan to win the WWE Title from Cena.

- Regarding Daniel Bryan not being punished over the recent confrontation with Triple H backstage, some witnesses say Vince McMahon was there and others say he wasn’t present. Apparently Vince has given Triple H full control of managing talent and when Triple H didn’t want to punish Bryan for his outburst, Vince didn’t overrule him.

- Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards will have their Ring of Honor contracts expire on August 1st. There is at least some interest from WWE in both men. Word is that Sean Waltman recommended them to WWE.
- TNA’s Bruce Prichard has been making a play for former WWE star MVP to come in. If he does sign, he won’t be able to use the MVP name. MVP has been trying to pitch a reality show on prison life and being in TNA could open doors to Spike TV for the project.

- Regarding reports of talents being paid late, apparently it’s office workers also and not just TNA wrestlers. A source says it would “surprise you greatly” at some of the talents who are being paid late.

- Madison Rayne, who had her TNA contract expire this week, has been tweeting about how she will be back in the future, likely after she gives birth some time.

- As noted on Wednesday, Taeler Hendrix tweeted that she asked to be released from her contract. Apparently this is true as she was offered the same deal she had been under but turned it down and let it expire. The other talents named were indeed released.

- The July 1st WWE RAW did a low 2.89 cable rating with 3.96 million viewers, the same rating as the previous week but lower viewers.

- In the segment breakdown, the opener with Kane, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Christian, Sheamus, Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan did a 2.73 quarter rating, low numbers for the start of the show. Christian and The Usos vs. The Shield lost 28,000 viewers. Jinder Mahal vs. Dolph Ziggler gained 90,000 viewers. The video on Mark Henry’s career gained 64,000 viewers. Kane vs. Randy Orton with Bryan as the referee gained 217,000 viewers for a 2.98 quarter rating.

- Fandango vs. Sheamus lost 115,000 viewers. The Miz vs. Ryback gained 116,000 viewers. Mark Henry’s interview and a backstage segment with Vince McMahon gained 0 viewers. CM Punk and Curtis Axel vs. Darren Young and Titus O’Neil gained 21,000 viewers for a 3.00 rating, which is bad growth for the 10pm segment.

- Kaitlyn vs. Alicia Fox with AJ Lee plus a backstage segment with Stephanie McMahon lost 123,000 viewers. Cody Rhodes vs. Antonio Cesaro lost 98,000 viewers. The main event with John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio gained 567,000 viewers for a 3.25 overrun rating.

- Here is a list of updated confirmed WWE dates for Rob Van Dam:

* July 14th – Money in the Bank
* July 15th – RAW from Brooklyn
* July 16th – SmackDown from Providence, RI
* July 22nd – RAW from Austin, TX
* July 23rd – RAW tapings from Laredo, TX
* July 24th – SmackDown tapings from Corpus Christi, TX
* July 25th – SmackDown tapings from Houston, TX

I don't know how to feel about this. Well actually I do...why is the McMahon family drama the key angle for Wrestlemania? Didn't they learn their lesson from Wrestlemania 2000?

Unless someone new gets over, and something new occurs such as Vince truly retiring on screen and Triple H assuming the Chairman role, I don't care to see this.

- Regarding The Undertaker returning, a match with Kane against The Shield for SummerSlam is not a definite right now. At last word, Taker vs. Brock Lesnar for WrestleMania XXX is planned if Lesnar vs. The Rock doesn’t materialize.

That's rough. No interest in Rock vs Brock due being unimpressed with Rock's singles comeback matches.

Lesnar vs Taker, eh, I don't know. Can Taker hang with Brock in his current condition? What gets accomplished in this match?

It’s also said that The Rock could end up in the main WrestleMania XXX storyline, possibly the McMahon family angle.

So Rock vs HHH? I'm down with that. I have no hope for the match quality. It'll be a battle of the "Who Doesn't Have It Anymore Attitude Era Melee", but it keeps both occupied. Just get Austin to guest referee it so he can Rocky and HHH stunners at the end of the match.

- Almost everyone within WWE says Daniel Bryan vs. John Cena is a lock for SummerSlam and that it won’t be pulled like it was at Money in the Bank. There are forces within the company pushing for Bryan to win the WWE Title from Cena.

Shocked at the "forces within the company pushing for Bryan to win the WWE Title from Cena". I figured they just wanted Cena to have a great match at Summerslam. Glad to see it, and I'm hoping it means Bryan won't get dropped down to the midcard after the summer, regardless of the result of the match.

Good. I'd imagine Vince respects Bryan more for the outburst too.

- Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards will have their Ring of Honor contracts expire on August 1st. There is at least some interest from WWE in both men. Word is that Sean Waltman recommended them to WWE.

If they do go to WWE, then the real test begins for Davey to prove if he really is the best in the world. No more stupid risks, 10 head drops. He'll have to wrestle a structured match. And he'll have to overcome his size disadvantage, just like Bryan and Punk did.

- TNA’s Bruce Prichard has been making a play for former WWE star MVP to come in. If he does sign, he won’t be able to use the MVP name. MVP has been trying to pitch a reality show on prison life and being in TNA could open doors to Spike TV for the project.

I like MVP, but this move wouldn't do anything for TNA.

- Regarding reports of talents being paid late, apparently it’s office workers also and not just TNA wrestlers. A source says it would “surprise you greatly” at some of the talents who are being paid late.

Aww man. :csad:
