I don't think Cyke will stay without the vizor, but one never knows. There's a lot more to the character than a set of shades anyway.

Thing is, while I get that its in the comic, logically, it shouldn't work. I know, comics and whatever, but seriously. The beam should only converge at the point of focus, because its how the eye works. When you see something, you focus on it, and two seperate images are transfered to the brain. The only similarity between the two is the point you were focussed on, because thats where the line of sight converges.

Unless Cyclops is cross eyed, it should always be two beams. And if he is cross eyed, he should be technically useless in battle, as he wouldn't hit anything... wait useless in battle... ok... he's cross eyed. Mystery solved

If i understand you correctly im agreeing with you and so does that comic. That its separate beams till the point of contact with what he is focusing on except when he has his visor on and that merges them together and they come out as we know it. Is that what your saying?

Depends on your source. Some say brown. However I have heard several times that he has red eyes (not glowing). The other once quoted was blue eyes. However really what it came down to is the few artists who actually had to draw him powerless and visorless not knowing what color his eyes ought to be.

The cartoon (Evolution) had his eyes as green, very ironic when you think about that.

His eyes are definitely brown. Definitely. If he could control his powers and didnt need the visor they'd be brown.
The only way they would be red would be if he was using his power at the time (like actively charging a shot or something) or if he didnt have control and was wearing some sort of ruby quartz contact lenses (which i always thought he should have done at some point)

In that scene where he is with Jean they were red. (Also a few others...you could dispute this saying he technically had his powers at the time and therefore they don't count)

In his boyhood flashbacks (in X-Men Classics I believe) they were blue (a light blue)

Most other places have them as brown

I really don't like this. I know it's a probably a bad pic of him on the cover and that he'll look fine most of the time. It's not about him looking bad, it's about him losing his trademark.

The visor was cool and was always a part of him. Sure it used to be that this was due to a disability he had that left him unable to properly regulate his power, but as far I can see it hasn't been an issue in years. It seemed like a non-issue now and it was part of who he was.

Many of the X-men had notable physical and character flaws that dogged them for a long time, there are others that would make for better character and story progression if they were to overcome theirs. Beast and Rogue to name just a couple.

Why not? And why not now?

Everyone keeps saying "His visor is iconic, it should stay." "I don't like changing his look, it should stay the same." Almost no one has mentioned or even noticed how this affects his storyline and if this is a natural progression of his character. Half the people complaining about it don't seem to even be reading the arc or have any idea of why this is coming about.

I hope this goes in the manner of cat Beast; as in, everyone gets up in a tizzy and complains continues to complain about the change long, long, long after there's any point at all in complainin' -- all the while ignoring the actual stories, good or bad, that comes around as a result of the change -- but the change sticks around and the character is all the more improved for it.

It won't. And you know it won't. Joss Whedon isn't in the business of changing the mythos. He's just here to homage the late 70's and early 80's, albeit in an entertaining way. My wager is that by the end of the storyline, Scott's lack of control and reliance on his visor is back in full force.

Well contacts fall out all the time, so I'm sure he thought of doing that but figured it was to much of a risk.
